Best result: have never qualified Coach: Leading scorers: all-time – Léon Mart (16); current – Aurélien Joachim (6) Most appearances: all-time – (98); current – Eric Hoffman (87) Association formed: 1908 Nickname: De Roude Léiw (The Red Lions) Where they play: Josy Barthel Stadium, Luxembourg ended their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a creditable haul of six points, four of them coming at the expense of Northern Ireland. They have claimed at least one win in each of their last four qualifying campaigns, the most spectacular at the expense of Switzerland (2-1) in Zurich in a 2010 FIFA World Cup tie. Their most memorable UEFA European Championship performance dates back 50 years to a remarkable 2-1 victory against the Netherlands in Rotterdam that put them into the quarter-finals, where they lost to – although only after a replay. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P99 W6 D9 L84 F38 A276 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P99 W6 D9 L84 F38 A276 Luxembourg made an audacious start to the UEFA European Championship when, having sat out 1960 qualifying, they stunned the Dutch in their first ever tie in the competition in 1963. A side spearheaded by perhaps the country's finest ever player, , came close to reaching the following year's final tournament, drawing home and away against Denmark before being edged out 1-0 in a replay. That is, by a distance, as close as Luxembourg have come. It was another 50 games before they next managed a qualifying victory, winning 1-0 in Malta in the EURO '96 preliminaries. They triumphed in the reverse fixture too, also securing a famous victory against eventual group winners the Czech Republic; Luxembourg finished with ten points, still only enough for fifth in the six-team section. They have ended bottom ever since. They performed creditably in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying, though, restricting France to a pair of 2-0 wins, drawing with Belarus, and defeating Albania 2-1. Memorable EURO matches 13/10/2007: Belarus 0-1 Luxembourg, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Fons Leweck's 95th-minute strike gave Luxembourg a first competitive win in 12 years. 07/06/1995: Luxembourg 1-0 Czech Republic, EURO '96 qualifying A late goal earned victory over a side that would finish runners-up at EURO '96. 30/10/1963: Luxembourg 2-1 Netherlands, 1964 UEFA European Championship qualifying Tied at 1-1 after the first leg, two Camille Dimmer goals took Luxembourg through to the last eight. Did you know? Luxembourg's first ever international was a 4-1 friendly defeat by France in October 1911. *Last updated 07/01/14

The ninth biggest country in the world but with a relatively small population approaching 18 million, its national football team have been involved in only two UEFA European Championship qualifying campaigns, finishing sixth out of eight teams on the road to UEFA EURO 2008 and sixth out of six four years later. FIFA World Cup qualifying has brought similar disappointment, with just five points claimed in the 2014 campaign. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P24 W3 D5 L16 F17 A45 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P24 W3 D5 L16 F17 A45 Granted UEFA membership too late to participate in UEFA EURO 2004 qualifying, Kazakhstan had to wait another four years for their first taste of UEFA European Championship action. Their 2008 campaign began promisingly, Arno Pijpers' side drawing their opening fixture 0-0 in Belgium. They went on to beat Serbia 2-1 in Almaty – their first competitive win as full UEFA members – a 1-0 victory in Armenia and 2-2 draw with Belgium taking them to ten points from 14 games. There was less to celebrate four years later in a campaign Kazakhstan started under the guidance of German coach Bernd Storck, finishing with Beránek in charge. Drawn in a section containing Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Austria and Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan finished bottom of Group A with just four points, their only triumph a 2-1 home win against Azerbaijan. Memorable EURO matches 21/11/07: Armenia 0-1 Kazakhstan, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Sergei Ostapenko's goal in Yerevan earned Kazakhstan their first away win in UEFA competition. 17/10/07: Kazakhstan 1-2 Portugal, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying The hosts were on course for a fine 0-0 draw with six minutes left, before three late goals. 24/03/07: Kazakhstan 2-1 Serbia, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Nurbol Zhumaskaliyev sealed Kazakhstan's first competitive win since gaining full UEFA membership. Did you know? No Kazakh footballer represented the USSR until 1977 when defender Seilda Baishakov won his two caps. A decade later another defender, Evgeny Yarovenko, also made two appearances before helping the Soviet side to gold at the 1988 Olympics Games. *Last updated 07/02/14

Yuri Krasnozhan Date of birth: 7 June 1963 Nationality: Russian Playing career: PFC Spartak Nalchik, FC Avtozapchast Baksan Coaching career: FC Avtozapchast Baksan (assistant), PFC Spartak Nalchik, FC Lokomotiv Moskva, FC Anji Makhachkala, FC Kuban Krasnodar, FC Terek Grozny, Russia B, Kazakhstan • An unremarkable player with Nalchik and Avtozapchast, Krasnozhan moved into coaching in the 1990s, making his name during a six-year spell in charge of Nalchik, whom he led into the Russian top flight on a modest budget after finishing second in the second tier in 2005. • A sixth-placed Premier League finish with Nalchik in 2010 prompted Lokomotiv to bring Krasnozhan to Moscow, but he lasted just six months. He took the Anji helm in 2011, yet stepped down after only two months with the ambitious Dagestan club. • Similarly inconclusive spells in the Kuban and Terek dugouts followed for the former coach of Russia's B national team. • Having struck up a relationship with the Football Federation of Kazakhstan (KFF) the previous year – visiting to watch the Super Cup – Krasnozhan replaced Czech Miroslav Beránek as Kazakhstan boss in February 2014, signing a two-year deal.

That was in the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign, when they did the double over Luxembourg and accumulated a final tally of eight points – their best haul to date. They also posted two victories in the UEFA EURO 2008 qualifiers, against Latvia and Iceland, but their last three qualifying campaigns have between them yielded just a solitary win, against Lithuania on the road to UEFA EURO 2012. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P48 W4 D5 L39 F17 A150 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P48 W4 D5 L39 F17 A150 Liechtenstein have found it tough going in UEFA European Championship qualifying. They delivered their best performance in UEFA EURO 2008, when they amassed seven points thanks to a 3-0 home win against Iceland, a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture and a 1-0 defeat of Latvia. The Alpine side's haul of four points in a UEFA EURO 2012 section also containing Spain, the Czech Republic and Scotland was earned in their meetings with Lithuania, who they defeated 2-0 at home and drew with 0-0 in the return. Best result: have never qualified Coach: Lars Olsen Leading scorers: all-time – Rógvi Jacobsen (10); current – Fródi Benjaminsen (6) Most appearances: all-time – Óli Johannesen (83); current – Fródi Benjaminsen (79) Association formed: 1979 Nickname: None Where they play: Tórsvøllur, Torshavn A member of UEFA since 1990, the Faroe Islands recorded the most famous result in their history in their very first competitive match, defeating Austria 1-0 in a EURO '92 qualifier played in the Swedish town of Landskrona. The islands had no suitable grass pitches at that time, but since then they have regularly hosted UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup matches on the home turf of Torshavn and Toftir. Just three of their 12 qualifying campaigns have yielded more than one win, although only once, on the road to UEFA EURO 2008, have they lost every match. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P58 W4 D6 L48 F34 A165 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P58 W4 D6 L48 F34 A165 After introducing themselves with a bang in 1990 as Icelandic coach Páll Gudlaugsson guided them to that famous victory against Austria and a creditable 1-1 draw away to Northern Ireland two games later, the Faroes lost their remaining five games, conceding 21 goals without reply. They finished bottom of the group, as they have in five of their six campaigns. The exception came in EURO '96 qualifying, where home and away wins against San Marino left them fifth in the six-team section. It was 38 games before they managed another victory in the competition, beating Estonia 2-0 in 2011 under Irish coach Brian Kerr as UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying yielded four points. It could have been better had Kerr's side not conceded two added-time goals to lose 2-1 in their opener at Estonia. They drew at home against Northern Ireland and pushed Italy all the way – twice hitting the woodwork – before the Azzurri escaped Torshavn with a 1-0 win. Memorable EURO matches 07/06/2011: Faroe Islands 2-0 Estonia, UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying The Faroes claimed their first EURO qualifying win in 38 attempts to stun in-form Estonia. 25/05/1995: Faroe Islands 3-0 San Marino, EURO '96 qualifying Two goals in the opening eight minutes set up a record EURO win for 's side. 12/09/1990: Faroe Islands 1-0 Austria, EURO '92 qualifying Torkil Nielsen's second-half strike earned a shock victory as the Faroes made a dream debut. Did you know? The Faroe Islands have won two matches in the qualifying stages of three separate competitions: EURO '96 (both against San Marino), the 1998 FIFA World Cup (both against Malta) and the 2002 World Cup (both against Luxembourg). *Last updated on 07/01/2014

Lars Olsen Date of birth: 2 February 1961 Nationality: Danish Playing career: Glostrup IF, Køge BK, Brøndby IF (twice), Trabzonspor AŞ, RFC Seraing, FC Basel 1893 Coaching career: Randers FC, Odense BK, Faroe Islands • Enjoyed an illustrious playing career as a central defender, winning five Danish titles in a six-year spell at Brøndby between 1985 and 1991. • Allegedly drove from Turkey to Scandinavia when he learned of his country's belated call-up to EURO '92. His passion and leadership – he played every minute in Sweden – helped inspire Denmark to the most unlikely of triumphs. He ended his career with 84 caps, a record 69 as captain. • Learned his coaching craft with Brøndby, taking charge at various youth and reserve levels after finishing his playing days at the club in 1996, before accepting his first senior job with newly formed Randers in 2003. Guided the team into the Danish Super League in 2004 but could not help maintain their elite status, suffering immediate relegation. • Steered second-division Randers to a surprise 2006 Danish Cup success, beating Esbjerg fB in the final, while also securing a return to the top flight. Moved to Odense in summer 2007, leading his new side to a fourth-place finish in his first term. Consecutive runners-up spots followed in 2008/09 and 2009/10 before he departed in September 2010. • Appointed coach of the Faroe Islands in November 2011 yet his team were unable to register a win as they came bottom of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group C, earning their only point in a 1-1 home draw with Kazakhstan.

Best result: have never qualified Coach: Pietro Ghedin Leading scorer: all-time – Michael Mifsud (39); current – Michael Mifsud (39) Most appearances: all-time – David Carabott (121); current – Michael Mifsud (103) Association formed: 1900 Nickname: The Reds Where they play: Ta'Qali National Stadium Ever since they first took part in international competition 52 years ago Malta have found the going tough. Positive results are therefore to be treasured, and the 1-0 win in Armenia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign was especially precious as it was their first competitive victory away from home – and only their second in that competition, 20 years after the first. The goalscorer, aptly, was all-time record marksman Michael Mifsud. Malta have won just three UEFA European Championship matches – against Greece, Iceland and Hungary. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P92 W3 D12 L77 F46 A272 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P92 W3 D12 L77 F46 A272 Malta's first competitive international was a UEFA European Championship qualifier away to Denmark in June 1962. Though they lost 6-1, have finished bottom of their qualifying groups ever since and never won away, there have been moments to cherish. The 2-0 victory against Greece in 1975 remains one of the nation's football highlights. The goalless draw against West Germany, no less, in 1979 also ranks as one of Malta's finest achievements. Other notable results include 2-1 wins against Iceland in 1982 and Hungary in 2006 and the 1987 2-2 draw in Portugal. In the 2012 campaign Malta failed to add to their tally of qualifying wins, mustering a solitary point in Group F courtesy of a 1-1 home draw with Georgia. They were unfortunate not to have more to show for their efforts, Greece scoring the only goal in the 92nd minute, but scored four goals and conceded 21 in their ten qualifiers. Memorable EURO matches 29/03/1987: Portugal 2-2 Malta, 1988 UEFA European Championship qualifying was on target as Malta came from 1-0 down to earn an away point. 25/02/1979: Malta 0-0 West Germany, 1980 UEFA European Championship qualifying Malta secured an unlikely draw against a team including Sepp Maier and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. 23/02/1975: Malta 2-0 Greece, 1976 UEFA European Championship qualifying Goals from Richard Aquilina and Vincent 'Maxi' Magro put Malta on the football map. Did you know? Malta's current team mascot is an abandoned dog named Zep who was found last May and now lives in a kennel by the Ta'Qali National Stadium VIP entrance. *Last updated on 07/01/14

They did not play a senior international until 1996 but have since been a permanent fixture in FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship qualifying. They have lost every single match in every campaign bar one – the 2006 World Cup, when they collected five points. The 2014 World Cup ended in disappointment, however, as Andorra failed to score in a qualifying competition for the first time. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P40 W0 D0 L40 F7 A113 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P40 W0 D0 L40 F7 A113 Andorra's journey has been one of slow but determined progress into an ever-more competitive international outfit. They made their UEFA European Championship qualifying debut in September 1998 and in this competition they have amassed 40 encounters without a point, scoring seven goals and conceding 113 along the way. There have been several performances worthy of note and one of the high points of recent years was a 1-0 triumph against the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in a 2006 World Cup qualifier. Their UEFA EURO 2012 campaign brought ten defeats and just one goal but Russia, Slovakia and FYROM in particular could attest to them being no pushovers. Memorable EURO matches 22/08/07: Estonia 2-1 Andorra, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying An added-time goal from the nine-man hosts' Indrek Zelinski denied Andorra a historic point. 09/06/99: Andorra 0-1 France, UEFA EURO 2000 qualifying The hosts were holding the world champions until Frank Leboeuf converted an 85th-minute penalty. 05/09/98: Armenia 3-1 Andorra, UEFA EURO 2000 qualifying Midfielder Jesús Lucendo was on target for Andorra in their maiden EURO qualifier. Did you know? Andorra claimed a 1-0 home victory against the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on 13 October 2004 – it remains their only competitive win. *Last updated on 07/01/14

By the end of 2013 they had only won one match – a friendly against Liechtenstein in 2004 – and lost 57 in a row. The tiny land-locked nation has participated in six UEFA European Championship qualifying campaigns and never registered a point. Their FIFA World Cup qualifying record is marginally better, with two draws – against Turkey in 1993 and Latvia in 2001 – the highlights among a lengthy run of defeats. Despite this Giampaolo Mazza remained the team's head coach for 15 years, retiring in October 2013. EURO pedigree Matches played Overall: P56 W0 D0 L56 F6 A253 Final tournament: P0 W0 D0 L0 F0 A0 Qualifying: P56 W0 D0 L56 F6 A253 San Marino made their UEFA European Championship debut in qualifying for EURO '92, ending the campaign with eight defeats in eight outings, conceding 33 and scoring once. It has become a familiar outcome, with San Marino still awaiting their first point in EURO qualifying having registered six goals in 56 matches, shipping 253. Mazza's side leaked 19 goals in their first three Group E outings ahead of the 2012 edition, against the Netherlands, Sweden and Hungary. San Marino did, however, go close to earning their first point when they lost 1-0 at home to Finland, their best result in a campaign which also included an 11-0 reverse in the Netherlands. Memorable EURO matches 07/02/2007: San Marino 1-2 Republic of Ireland, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Stephen Ireland's 94th-minute strike denied San Marino their maiden EURO qualifying point. 06/09/2006: San Marino 0-13 Germany, UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying Lukas Podolski scored four as the visitors recorded the biggest ever win in the competition. 27/03/1991: San Marino 1-3 Romania, EURO '92 qualifying Valdes Pasolini equalised with a first-half penalty – San Marino's first goal in EURO qualifying. Best result: never entered Coach: Allen Bula Leading scorers: all-time – none; current – none Most appearances: all-time – no more than 1; current – no more than 1 Association formed: 1895 Nickname: Gib Where they play: Estádio Algarve, Faro/Loule, Portugal The newest of UEFA's 54 member associations, UEFA EURO 2016 marks Gibraltar's maiden qualifying campaign. The country has had a senior representative side since 1923, though their competitive experience is mainly drawn from the Island Games, in which they have participated since 1993 – despite Gibraltar not being an island. They lost all their matches on their debut but were runners-up in 1995 and triumphed in 2007. Four years later, in March 2011, they beat the Faroe Islands 3-0 in a friendly. With around 30,000 citizens, Gibraltar is the least populous of the UEFA member nations. Indeed, the lack of a suitable stadium in the country means that Gibraltar will play their home qualifiers in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. That was where they staged their very first international, on 19 November 2013, and things got off to an encouraging start as Allen Bula's side held Slovakia to a goalless draw at Estádio Algarve. *Last updated on 07/01/14

Gibraltar - Coach profile

Allen Bula Date of birth: 4 January 1965 Nationality: Gibraltarian Playing career: Manchester 62, Gibraltar United FC, St Joseph's FRAC, Glacis United FC Coaching career: Gibraltar • Having turned out for many of the top sides in Gibraltar, as well as the national Under-21 selection, Bula's hopes of a long football career were dashed when a serious injury brought an end to his playing days at just 22. • The charismatic Bula moved to England to study, and helped out with the youth teams at non-league outfits Dover Rangers FC and near neighbours Dover Athletic FC. • Bula's footballing life took an unlikely turn in 2004 when he went to Slovakia to work in the youth academy at 1. FC Košice, becoming the club's head of football development in 2006. • Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matić and Manchester City FC youngster Albert Rusnák were two players who came through the Košice ranks under Bula. • Named as Gibraltar coach in 2010, Bula split his time between the Rock and Slovakia for a while, but is now full-time coach, leading the territory in their first game as a UEFA member nation, a 0-0 draw with Slovakia on 19 November 2013.

:: Team facts EURO finals: The UEFA European Championship was a four-team event in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 (when the preliminary round and quarter-finals were considered part of qualifying). From 1980 it was expanded to an eight-team finals and remained in that format in 1984, 1988 and 1992 until 1996, when the 16-team format was adopted. UEFA EURO 2016 is the first tournament to be played as a 24-team finals. FIFA World Cup qualification: the team facts section displays all the competing countries' EURO and World Cup campaign history. Please note, though, that Israel (1950 to 1994) and Kazakhstan (1998 to 2002) have participated in World Cup qualification as non-UEFA members. FIFA Confederations Cup/Olympic Games: FIFA Confederations Cup games are included as friendlies while matches played in Olympic Games football tournaments are not recorded in this press kit. Goals for/against: Goal totals include the outcome of disciplinary decisions (e.g. match forfeits when a 3-0 result is determined). Goals totals do not include goals scored during a penalty shoot-out after a tie ended in a draw. Records of inactive countries A number of UEFA associations have been affected by dissolution or splits of member associations. For statistical purposes, the records of these inactive countries have been allocated elsewhere: therefore, all Soviet Union matches are awarded to Russia; all West Germany – but not East Germany – matches are awarded to Germany; all Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro matches are awarded to Serbia; all Czechoslovakia matches are allocated to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Abandoned/forfeited matches For statisical purposes, when a match has been started and then abandoned but later forfeited, the result on the pitch at the time of abandonment is counted. Matches that never started and were either cancelled or forfeited are not included in the overall statistics.
