Irish Coaching Grant 2021

Irish Sailing has set aside a fund to support professional coaching activities to assist in increasing racing participation for Irish Sailing affiliated classes including the Pathway classes for coaching other than performance squad training. Grants will be awarded on a first come first served basis as funds are limited due to budgetary constraints. An application should be sent to the Irish Sailing Racing Department [email protected] and include brief details of the class coaching programme. The engagement of an Irish Sailing coach from the list of eligible coaches is required under the scheme to help grow and develop the Irish Coaching infrastructure to the benefit of all sailors.

The following conditions apply:

• The coaching must be available to all members of the Irish class association and be branded as a joint Irish Sailing & Class coaching event. • The coaching must be in the boats of the class and not for performance squad training. • Coaching sessions may take place at any time in Ireland before October 1, 2021. • Applications will only be considered from associations that have paid their affiliation fee for 2021. • The coaching event should take place in a pre-approved location, which is to be approved by Sarah- Louise Rossiter ([email protected]) (include location in your application form). • Grants will not be awarded for retrospective coaching (i.e. activities that have already taken place). • Grant payments will be made into the Class Association account only. • Grants will be awarded on a first come first served basis as funds are limited due to budgetary constraints. A grant of up to €150 will be awarded for the use of a non-approved coach and up to €400 for the use of an approved coach. Full and complete application form, report form, a copy of the coaches’ invoice and a short write up on the coaching event with photos will be required before payment of the grant is made. Links to the reports publication elsewhere will not be accepted. Submission of these documents must be within 3 weeks of the coaching taking place. Reports sent after this time will be invalid.

Irish Sailing approved coaches may be employed under this grant scheme (see link for approved coaches here: https://www.sailing.ie/training/clubs-centres/valid-instructors/) and will attract a larger grant but non-approved coaches may be considered.
