These relate to attendance, behaviour, dress and achievement. Confidence All students should attain at least expected progress in all aspects of their learning and many will go on to exceed this. All students are fully prepared and ready to learn and progress All students benefit from teaching that is at least consistently Aspirations good in all areas of the curriculum. Valued Supporting Students Each year group is divided into six forms and has a Head of Progress Expectations who will always be on hand to help and oversee their development. Each form will have their own Form Tutor who will have the overview of pupils progress and welfare. Dynamic The school works as part of a Multi Agency Team and other community groups who work together to provide a coordinated delivery of support services. The school also adopts the Derbyshire Child Protection Policy. Innovative All new staff appointments are vetted and DBS checked. Attendance remains a key focus and supported by our dedicated School Attendance Officer, we work with families to support them in ensuring Appreciation that all students attend school. Safeguarding Statement Tibshelf Community School is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors and promoting a climate where children and adults will feel confident about sharing any concerns, which they may have about their own safety or the well-being of others. Safeguarding relates to all aspects of school life including: pupils’ health and safety, meeting the needs of pupils with medical conditions, providing first aid, educational visits, internet or e-safety and appropriate arrangements to ensure school security as well as protecting children from deliberate harm. The School’s Safeguarding Policy provides an extensive portfolio of guidance applicable to all on and off-site activities undertaken by pupils whilst they are the responsibility of the school. At Tibshelf School we understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support the whole school community. ALTA PETE “Aim High” Induction Days and Information Evening Y6 Induction Days –Tuesday 25th June and Wednesday 26th June 2019 Information Evening for Parents/Carers and pupils – Tuesday 25th June 2019 To make transition as smooth as possible we have organised two days to help relieve anxieties and aid your child to become more accustomed to the Tibshelf site. Tuesday 25th June 2019 (8:50am to 2:30pm) Your child needs to arrive at Tibshelf School for 8:50am for a welcome assembly commencing at 9:00am. Your child should come into school and go directly into the school hall. Pupils will meet their form tutor and spend the day in their form group completing a variety of activities. Each pupil will have a biometric scan of their thumb, so that they can purchase food from the canteen in September. Please note that children eligible for free school meals will still need to have their thumbprint scanned. Wednesday 26th June 2019 (8:50am to 2:30pm) The second day will follow a similar format, with pupils participating in a variety of lessons. Your child should wear their current Primary School uniform on all of these days. At lunch time your child may have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch. If your child pays for meals, they will need to bring £2-3 each day. Parking: If you need to park your car on any of the days listed above, additional parking will be available on the tennis courts. Please do not park on West View. To help reduce congestion please drop your child off using the main school entrance. AT THE END OF THE DAY PLEASE STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE - members of staff will escort your child to the tennis courts at the end of each day. If you are on foot, please collect your child from a member of staff at the pupil gates on West View. PLEASE NOTE: The school car park barriers are in operation between 8.30am and 3.45pm. To reduce the amount of traffic through the school grounds and to safeguard our students, from September 2019 you will be unable to enter the car park to collect your child unless you have been contacted by school. The Parents Information Evening will take place on Tuesday 25th June, starting at 6pm. There will be a presentation by the Headteacher, Mr Pollard, along with an opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor. Staff and School Prefects will be on hand to help and direct you throughout the evening. Tie: Black / Red striped with school badge, available to buy online from Sportswear International Skirt: Black, pleated. Only skirts purchased from the schools supplier will be allowed. Shirt: Plain white. Long/Short sleeved formal shirt buttoned up at the collar. (Suitable for wearing with the school tie; NOT a sport polo type shirt or blouse.) Must be tucked in. School Sweatshirt: Plain black V neck with school embroidered logo School Knitted Jumper: Plain black V neck with school embroidered logo School Knitted Cardigan: Plain black V neck cardigan with school embroidered logo Students may choose not to wear a cardigan, sweatshirt or jumper underneath their blazer. However, if they choose to wear one underneath their blazer it MUST be a school cardigan, sweatshirt or jumper with the school logo. NO OTHER CARDIGANS, SWEATSHIRTS OR JUMPERS SHOULD BE WORN Shoes: Plain Black sensible shoes. Boots may be worn in snow. No trainers/high heels/sandals/Decathlons/canvas shoes. A signed note from Parents/Carers is essential Long term non participation – a medical note will be required STILL BRING YOUR KIT COLD WEATHER Hats Gloves Layers/Skins UNDER PE top Hoodies are not allowed YOU MUST Remove all jewellery Remove all piercings Tie up long hair Having the correct kit is crucial for students to access the PE curriculum in order to progress and fulfil their potential in PE. Students need to be organised and ensure they consistently bring the correct PE kit to lessons. The PE Department operate a ‘consequence system’ for students who fail to bring kit altogether OR if they forget enough of it to access the lesson. Students will not be allowed to borrow kit from school. The proposed site is currently being cleared and the scheme is scheduled to open around April 2019. The specialist centres at Heanor, Long Eaton and Darley Dale, providing care for physically frail, elderly clients with dementia, are now fully operational having only small amounts of remedial work outstanding.

Mr Walker claimed that the Chairman had failed to respond to an email requesting a copy of the letter that the Chairman had received from the Information Commissioner regarding various complaints that Mr Walker had made. The Chairman assured Mr Walker that he had been sent a copy of the email that he had received from the Information Commissioner. He apologised to Mr Walker for the delay in replying to Mr Walker’s request as it had been sent when he, the Chairman, was abroad on holiday.

  • There Will Be a Flash-Mob Performance of All Three Songs at Tesco In
    Preparations are well under way for the Namibia 2016 expedition students, who depart for their trip of a lifetime in just a matter of weeks, on 19th July! In April, the five lucky Year 10 participants took part in a really successful teambuilding training weekend. They joined forces with students from three other North Derbyshire schools who will be joining them on their adventure. Students will live for the entirety of their two-week stay in tents, so in preparation, pupils from Shirebrook Academy, Stubbin Wood School, Heritage High School, Tibshelf School and Frederick Gent School camped out on two cold evenings at Drumhill Scout Camp, and learned how to stay safe and what to do in case they come face to face with a wild animal. Devon Evans, 10SA, said: ‘The course was amazing. I enjoyed every Pictured are the five soloists (L-R: Molly Drew, Lauren second of it and I learned new things and new skills. Purpose of the Report To seek Cabinet approval to a number of matters to enable High Needs and Early Years Budgets of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) to be determined for 2016-17. 2. Information and Analysis 2.1 DSG Income The indicative DSG allocations for 2015-16 were announced by the DfE on 17 December 2015. The Schools Block allocations were considered by Cabinet at its meeting on 26 January 2016 and the High Needs and Early Years budgets now need to be determined.
