WINE TOURISM

South Moravia has become a very popular destination for wine tourism. The Partnership Foundation has marked 1,200 km of cycle paths connecting wine- growing villages. The backbone is the 289 km long Moravian Wine Trail between Znojmo and Uherské Hradiště. The National Wine Center certifies tourism facilities, issues maps and guides and guarantees accommodation standards. Wine tourism has become a credible field of tourism.

37 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2020

The paths are well marked. Every year is issued Calendar of Events on the Wine Trials and the actual map, available for free in both forms - printed as well as online. It is estimated that around three quarters of a million people roam the Moravian wine trails every year!

Our winegrowers are facing year by year harsh climatic conditions. For the same analytic figures in wine must, we have to harvest 3x to 4x less grapes per hectare than in or Italy. But our wines are more aromatic than wines from warm countries, they are more fresh.

How to turn a natural disadvantage into an opportunity??? To help to better knowledge, to make the general public aware of this, we decided to create a national marketing supporting system.

39 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2020

The Wine Fund was established by the Act on and Wine Production in 2002. The main purpose of its activities until the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU was to support the planting of vineyards. Later the Fund starts to support wine marketing, the development of wine tourism and informing the public about viticulture and winemaking. The main activity of the Fund is the communication campaign „Wines from Moravia, wines from Bohemia" to support sales of wines of domestic production. One of the important disciplines is to support the participation of our wines in major world competitions. The achieved results help to build and strengthen the goodwill of our wines not only on the domestic market.

Part of our vision is your participation here, I mean the organization of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in .

A special and very successful project is „St. Martin‘s Wine“. The idea was: Any winemaker needs money as soon as possible after the harvest, which cost him a lot of money. So he needs to sell young wines quickly. The Wine Fund has launched a massive St. Martin's campaign referring to some historical habits. This aroused public interest. Already after a few years, the survey revealed that the public perceives St. Martin‘s Wine as a tradition since the Middle Ages! Probably the best part was the idea of connecting young wine with the golden St. Martin‘s owen roast goose. The Czechs like food, so after a few years the smell of the Czech goose erased the midnight kiss.

The St. Martin‘s Wine project has been awarded several times in various surveys and brand competitions as the best marketing project in the field of wine.
