They were both nine-day periods of focused data collection for the sections of the ADU Virtual Museum for Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies) and for Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) respectively. OdonataMAP aims to atlas the dragonflies and damselflies of Africa, and especially southern Africa (Underhill et al. 2016). The importance of the Odonata is highlighted in many places, and most recently in Samways & Simaika (2016). At the end of June this year, the project Figure 1. All except five of the 45 OdonataMAP records for Angola have been submitted by Christopher Hines. Record OdonataMAP 26628 The Bottletail Olpogastra lugubris is a tropical species. The importance of this record is further underlined by the fact that it was one of the 60 newly described species in Dijkstra et al. (2015), and is the first record after those made at the time of the discovery of the species. Record 26253 in OdonataMAP (for the details see http://vmus.adu.org.za/?vm=OdonataMAP-26253) is a Stream Hawker Pinheyschna subpupillata submitted by Walter Neser (Figure 7). Agriocnemis sania Nielsen, 1959 was recorded in the lower valley and delta of the Nile. This suggests that a doubtful old record of a damaged Agriocnemis exilis Selys, 1872 from Port Said referred to A. sania, and that A. exilis should be removed from the checklist of Egyptian, North African and Mediterranean Odonata. Agriocnemis sania is new to African Egypt and should be downgraded from «Regionally Extinct» to «Endangered»on the IUCN North African Red List. Orthetrum machadoi Longfield, 1955 was discovered in the Siwa Oasis and is new for Egypt and the Palaearctic at large. The site is over 2600 km from the nearest known locality in Ethiopia, and, like the sympatric and sometimes syntopic Acisoma pan orpoides Rambur, 1842, can be considered as a tropical relict from (a) pluvial period(s), more than 6,000 years ago, when the Sahara was considerably wetter.

The present study provides a well- substantiated phylogeny of the Libelluloidea generated from gene fragments of two independent genes, the 16S and 28S ribosomal RNA (rRNA), and using models that take into account non-independence of correlated rRNA sites. Ninety-three ingroup taxa and six outgroup taxa were amplified for the 28S fragment; 78 ingroup taxa and five outgroup taxa were amplified for the 16S fragment.

INTRODUCTION To four studies date, only have focused specifically on the dragonflies ofGhana (KARSCH, 1893;NEVILLE, 1960;MARSHALL& GAMBLES, 1977;D’ANDREA & CARFI, 1994). Little has been published about the biology of the species and list of known from occurring there, no species the country has been compiled. From these papers and others, especially PINHEY (1962a), 99 species ofOdonata have been recorded in Ghana to date. The landscape of Ghana varies from wet forest to dry savanna due to a sharp rainfall gradient. The southern portion of the country is covered by wet, semi- moist and semi-dry forests, while farthernorth, in central Ghana, forest gives way the tall short to grasses, shrubs, and scattered trees of the savanna (SAYER et al., Terrestrial exhibit 1992).
