ABSTRACT

The physical-chemical characteristic of soil represent an important pre-requisite to guarantee long term fertility, to a dynamic system characterized by the continuous interactions between soil and plants. The great interest of the preservation of this system is justified by economic and environmental reasons. The intensive cultivations of lands influences soil quality by limiting its biological activity and causing a quick reduction of the soil organic matter. The purpose of this research is study of environmental friendly methods to increase the content of soil organic matter. The methods include the introduction of cover crop and-or the reduction of tillage. Different cultural practices are taken considered in this thesis: • conventional tillage; • minimum tillage; • no-tillage; • conventional tillage plus cover crops; • minimum tillage plus cover crops. • no-tillage plus cover crops; The drawings were made at three different depth: 0-10, 10-20, 20-40 cm and were evaluated some parameters of soil fertility. The results showed that the different cultivation practices increased the organic matter content, especially in soils buried in the cover crops, therefore representing a solution for environmental protection.

ABSTRACT

The production of Cannabis sativa for therapeutic purposes is attracting growing interest. Therefore, there is a need to develop new methods of cultivation through the use of organic fertilizers and biostimulants to increase the accumulation of cannabinoids. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effects of the microbial consortium "El Protector Y" of biometric parameters and the chemotype profile in hemp plants. In particular, we evaluated the root morphology, the content of chlorophyll in the leaves, the accumulation of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur in the leaves and flowers and that of the main cannabinoids. The plants were grown in a greenhouse for 50 days and treated with the

The treatments did not produce significant results on the parameters examined with the exception of the content of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur measured in the leaves. It was observed a higher content of nitrogen in leaves treated with the highest dose and a lower content of carbon and sulfur in the leaves treated with the minimum dosage. The higher nitrogen content observed may be attributable to the inferior development of plants and thus to reduced use of the nutrient for the production of biomass. The development of this study will be to identify alternative dosages of the microbial consortium to those already used and any new types of microbial formulated to enhance the development of Cannabis and the production of cannabinoids for therapeutic purposes.
