Blewett dominated the opening ITM 500 V8 Supercar round of the competition; part of the support categories at Pukekohe Park Raceway. Blewett won November 14’s eight lap race from pole, surging forward to win the second partial reverse grid race on Day 2. Capping off a successful weekend for the young driver, Blewett achieved a comfortable win in final race of the weekend from pole. Callum Quinn finished runner-up in all three races. Piquet returns for Toyota Racing Series Pedro Piquet, the youngest son of three-time Formula One World Champion Nelson Piquet is returning to New Zealand next January for the five-round Toyota Racing Series. Piquet briefly raced in the 2014 series, but withdrew due to an issue with his racing licence that wasn’t identified prior to entering. Now 17 years old, Piquet has won the Brazilian Formula Three Championship for two years running and will use the TRS Series as a springboard into the highly competitive FIA European Formula Three Championship in 2016. The Series starts at Ruapuna Speedway in Christchurch on January 16th. Piquet has dominated Formula Three in Brazil for the last two years, winning a whopping 12 of the 14 races held this year and 11 of the 16 events in 2014. The young driver has also competed in selected Porsche GT3 Cup events in Brazil and Europe this year to gain experience of circuits he will compete on in the future. Piquet will drive for the Hamilton-based M2 Competition team, who oversaw his appearance in 2014. M2 are the current TRS Championship winning team, with Canadian driver Lance Stroll claiming the title earlier this year. 2 Source: nzracer.com Action-packed race day at Pukekohe It was a brilliant sunny day at Pukekohe raceway and fans were treated to a 22-car grid at round two of the BNT NZ Touring Cars championship, serving as the main support class to the V8 Supercars ITM500.
