    Our mission is to help young people, especially those who need us most, build strong character and realize their full potential as responsible citizens and leaders. We do this by providing: a safe haven filled with hope and opportunity, ongoing relationships with caring adults, and life-enhancing programs. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF BOSTON 2017 ANNUAL REPORT 1 Dear Friends, This year – and for the last three years – under the remarkable leadership of outgoing Board Chair Dana Smith, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston has worked diligently to develop an incredible breadth and depth of thoughtfully designed programs to help our members succeed academically, live healthy lifestyles, practice good citizenship and be prepared for life after the Club. In this report, I invite you to read about just a few of the opportunities we provided to more than 17,000 young people at our Clubs. While BGCB invests $3,100 to serve each member – many of whom come from households with incomes of less than $33,000 per year – we only charge $25 per school year for 6-12 year olds and just $5 a year for teens – and no child is turned away because of an inability to pay. Each one of the generous contributions made by the individuals, corporations, foundations and community partners listed in this report played an important role in making this possible. In order to stay affordable and continue to offer even more enriching programs to the kids who need us most, I am excited to share that we successfully completed our five-year Opening Doors Campaign for Our Children, Our City, Our Future and surpassed our goal of $125 million – raising $131 million! We have also exceeded our planned giving goal of securing over 75 members of the Frederic C.

Each entry combines at least one picture of the individual profiled, and bold-faced rubrics lead the reader to information on birth, youth, early memories, education, first jobs, marriage and family, career highlights, memorable experiences, hobbies, and honors and awards. Each of the entries ends with a list of easily accessible sources to lead the student to further reading on the individual and a current address. Nigdy wcześniej żadna polska narciarka nie osiągnęła takich sukcesów jak nasza Justyna! Sezon jak karnawał Sezon w biegach narciarskich zakończony, Justyna Kowalczyk została NARODOWĄ BOHATERKĄ !!! Dwa tytuły Mistrzyni Świata oraz wygrana w klasyfikacji generalnej Pucharu Świata to wydarzenia bez precedensu. Wyczyny biegaczki narciarskiej z Kasiny Wielkiej przeszły do historii polskiego sportu, nigdy wcześniej, żadna polska narciarka nie osiągnęła takich sukcesów. Ten niesamowity sezon rozpoczął się od występów na potem złoto w biegu łączonym 2x7,5 km, a ukoronowaniem dalekiej północy w Gaellivare (Szwecja), Justyna w biegu na 10 mistrzowskich występów na czeskiej ziemi był bieg na 30 km km stylem dowolnym zajęła 7 miejsce. Praktycznie wszystkie stylem dowolnym ze startu wspólnego, po którym drugi raz występy w listopadzie i grudniu kończyły się miejscami 3-7, mogliśmy wysłuchać „Mazurka Dąbrowskiego”.

    Tuija Tuhkanen Tuhkanen Tuija Muistokuvia lahjoitettiin Suomen kirkkoihin keskiajalta aina 1700-luvulle asti. Tämä perinne piirtyy historiaan vahvana ja ikään kuin ulkoisista tekijöistä lähes riippumattomana jatkumona. Keskiajalla muistokuvien lahjoittaminen liittyi kiinteästi memoria- ja lahjoituskäytäntöön. Lahjoittajien kuvallinen esittäminen kirkoissa ei kuitenkaan loppunut reformaation myötä, vaikka sen opillinen lähtökohta tuli kielletyksi. Pa- remminkin vaikuttaa siltä, että muistokuvin ja -esinein pyrittiin täyttämään se tyhjyys, jonka memoria-kultin kieltäminen muuten olisi jättänyt. “IN MEMORIAM SUI ET SUORUM POSUIT” Ihanteellista kristittyä esittävät muistokuvat näyttäytyvät myös ulkoisilta piirteiltään lähes muuttumattomina. Toinen lahjoittajien muistokuvien ominaispiirre on niiden sisältämä kaksoisviesti: näemme lahjoittajan nöyrään rukoukseen polvistuneena hahmona, mutta samalla hänen hen- kilöllisyytensä tuodaan korostuneesti esille jopa kolmen merkki- järjestelmän – kuvan, vaakunan ja kirjoitetun nimen – avulla. Kunnioi- tusta ja nöyryyttä osoittava asento rakentaa lahjoittajalle kristillisen hy- veen mukaista eetosta, kun taas kuvatun määrätietoinen esilletuonti on muistetuksi tulemisen kannalta tärkeää. Tutkimus avaa uskonpuhdistuksen molemmin puolin ulottuvan näkö- alan kysymykseen, miten ja miksi lah- joittajat halusivat tulla kuvatuiksi kirk- koihin. Muistokuvia analysoidaan seu- rakunnalle suunnattuina esityksinä, joi- den kuvaretorisessa kielessä välittyy pyrkimys vakuuttaa katsoja lahjoittajan ansioista tulla muistetuksi.

Med både mi- nus grader, pluss grader, Velkommen til møte på Migrasjonsmuseet regn, sol, hagl og snø den mandag 13. mai kl. 1900. siste uken så kjenner jeg at hodet er litt kokt og den ind- re værføleren er forvirret. Det var hyggelig å høre at så mange av dere kom på konsert i Utvandrerkirka 1. mai og jeg håper det var en fornøyelse. Selv var jeg, som så mange andre ganger i det siste, opptatt med skolen. Forhåpentligvis har forplik- telsene på skolefronten roet seg ned til høsten og da vil de- re kunne se mer av meg på tilstelningene våre. På måne- dens møte kommer Sven Peter Sinnerud og jeg håper å se så mange av dere som mulig på mai-møtet vårt! Einar var også innom kirka. Det var Vallset Trekkspellag, Stange Trekkspillklubb og progresjonen i jobben opp mot kongress i 2020.

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap Seksjon for kultur og samfunn Norges idrettshøgskole, 2011 k Forord Som tidligere studieveileder på NIH, kan jeg med trygghet si at begrepet heltidsstudenten lever. Etter fire år med kombinasjon av jobb og studier har jeg de siste to årene sett min begrensning, tiden strekker ikke til. Det har derfor tatt et ekstra år å fullføre denne oppgaven, og det er med stor lettelse jeg nå skriver de siste ordene på oppgaven. Arbeidet har vært strevsomt, men samtidig vært utrolig lærerikt både faglig og personlig. Nå skal oppgaven leveres! Når oppgaven nå skal leveres, er det mange jeg ønsker å takke. Først og fremst vil jeg takke min veileder Kari Steen-Johnsen for nyttige tips, faglige veiledninger og gode tilbakemeldinger som har bidratt til det endelige produktet. Takk for at du aldri ga opp eller mistet troa på en student på overtid. Min samboer Berit fortjener også en stor takk. Du har pushet meg, bidratt med diskusjoner og gjennomlesninger, samt holdt ut med en til tider frustrert student. Uten deg hadde jeg ikke kommet i mål. Takk til min familie og venner for støtte underveis. Sonja, Tore, Rasmus og Vegar, uten deres gjennomlesning hadde oppgaven ikke vært det produktet den er i dag. Takk til min arbeidsplass, Utviklingsavdelingen i Norges Bandyforbund, som har gitt meg fleksibiliteten til å fullføre oppgaven. Jobben gir meg spennende utordringer, der jeg føler meg bortskjemt som får jobbe med en idrett i vekst og med et uendelig potensial.
