In the Footsteps of June 22 - 29, 2019

Day 1: Saturday, ● Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Jerusalem (1 group transfer) ● Meet with your guide and get a briefing about the tour, before heading to your welcome dinner together at the hotel.

Day 2: Sunday, Jerusalem, the Old City ● Start the day with a visit to the Mt of Olives (Luke 22:39), the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Church of All Nations (Matthew 26:36). Then, continue through Via Dolorosa towards the Holy Sepulcher, home to six Christian sects and, according to tradition, the of Jesus. Have lunch at one of the most famous Hummus places in the Old City. ● Visit the Temple Mount and the Dome of the Rock. Learn about Al-Aqsa Mosque and the importance of this holy site to Muslims, Jews and Christians. Afterwards, visit the Western Wall, see the ancient stones and learn about the significance of the holy site for Jews. ● After Lunch, visit ● Head back to the hotel for a meeting with a Rabbi where you get to ask any questions about Judaism and the state of Israel. ● Have dinner in the hotel

Day 3: Monday, Bethlehem ● In the morning spend the day volunteering! ● Then continue to Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1) and visit the Manger Square, the Church of the Nativity, known as the birthplace of Jesus, the shepherds’ field (Luke 2:8) and learn about the city’s Christian history and population. ● Have lunch in Bethlehem ● In the evening, travel to Bethany (John 11), known as the site where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and enjoy a homemade meal. Over dinner, take in a musical performance by a group of Israeli and Palestinian musicians and learn about the local music.

Day 4: Tuesday, Jerusalem, Israel Museum and Yad Vashem ● Start the day by visiting The city of David, Hezekiah’s tunnel, and the pool of Silom ● Afterwards, head to the Israel Museum, which houses Israel’s finest archeological artifacts including the Dead Sea Scrolls, which date to about 2000 years old. Have lunch on your own. ● Continue to Yad Vashem Memorial to learn about the Holocaust and its ramifications today. If available, meet with a holocaust survivor. ● Have dinner at the hotel with Israeli and Palestinian peace-builders

Day 5: Wednesday, Dead Sea and Masada ● Visit Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found and learn about the life of the Essene community. ● Head towards Masada and visit Herod's fortress to learn about the Roman conquest, and see one of the oldest synagogues in the Holy Land. ● Float over the Dead Sea before heading North to Galilee ● Have dinner at the Kibbutz hotel located at the shore of the Sea of Galilee

Day 6: Thursday, Galilee ● Head north towards Galilee. On the way to Tiberias make a stop at the baptismal traditional site where it’s believed that baptized Jesus Matthew 3:13-17. ● Head towards Capernaum and tour the ruins of Capernaum, where Jesus lived after leaving Nazareth, and the hometown for many of the 12 disciples including Peter and John. (John: 2:12, 4:46, 6:17, 24:59). ● Visit the Mt. of where Jesus delivered the and enjoy a beautiful and breathtaking view of the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 5,6.7). ● Have dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Friday, Heading to Tel Aviv ● Head towards Banias and visit the ancient site (Matthew:16), and then continue to ancient Dan (2 Kings 10:29) and visit the only standing Canaanite gate, the Israelite gate, and the high place complex in Dan. ● Pass through Cana where Jesus turned water into wine (John 2:1–11), and head towards Nazareth, the town of St. Mary (Luke 1:26). Visit the Basilica of the and learn about the city’s history. ● Continue towards Tel Aviv, Check in and meet with the Tel Aviv Church of in Tel Aviv Hotel: Gilgal hotel Tel Aviv (B,D)

Day 8: Saturday, Tel Aviv, Caesarea and Departure ● Enjoy a free morning! ● Head North until we arrive at the majestic Roman ruins of Caesarea where St. Paul was imprisoned (acts 23,24). Learn about the manmade harbor built by King Herod the Great, visit the theater and Hippodrome, and enjoy the beautiful view of the sea. ● Later This afternoon, drive south along the Mediterranean towards Jaffa, the ancient port city dating about 4000 years. Visit St. Peter’s Church, known as the site of Peter’s dream from the book of Acts, chapter 10. ● This evening, have a farewell dinner with the group. ● Departure
