You will also find the standings of the first three places in all events for men and women at the Olympic Games followed by several classifications which are listed either by the number of titles or medals by swimmer or National Federation. It should be noted that these standings only have an historical aim but no sport signification because the comparison between the achievements of swimmers of different generations is always unfair for several reasons: 1. The period of time. The Olympic Games were not organised in 1916, 1940 and 1944 2. The evolution of the programme.

ANALYSIS OF THE 2012 EUROPEAN FENCING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR MEN AND WOMEN, HELD IN LEGNANO, ITALY INTRODUCTION The contemporary Fencing become more and more popular “…in the free time industry on the entire Balkans region…”because there is “…exercise which are health preventive for the clients…” and “…the third concerns the creation of a marketing strategy…” (5, 13). The 2012 European Fencing Championships was held June, 15-20 in Legnano, Italy. This tiny Italian town (population 59147) is positioned in the north-west part of the Milano district, about 20 km. apart from the centre of the city of Milano. Olona river, which passes through 13 Lombardian towns crosses Legnano. Legnano and Rome are the only towns included in the text of the Italian anthem, thanks to an ancient battle which took place at that town. All the members European fencing elite gathered together in Legnano. MATERIAL AND METHODS The individual and the team contests last 6 days, but in this article we will study the individual contest only, which lasts 3 days with a competition program as follows: 1. 15.06.2012 – epee men and foil women; 2. 16.06.2012 – epee women and foil men; 3. 17.06.2012 – sabre women and sabre men. It is typical for that kind of competitions the contestants to look forward to realizing high efficiency and a propensity for high effectiveness in the scoring (touches) (1, 2, 6, 7), because a very dynamic and attractive style of fencing is practiced in Europe nowadays(4, 6, 11).
