Data was collected by document research, observation, interview and focus group discussion. Results show that temples suffer from a lack of maintenance, poor service, inadequate tourist facilities, minimal community participation and inefficient public relations. A management model to combat these problems was designed by parties from each temple at a workshop. The model provides an eight-part strategy to increase the tourism potential of temples in Bangkok: temple site, safety, conveniences, attractions, services, public relations, cultural tourism and management. Keywords: management, cultural tourism, temples, Thailand, development 1. Introduction When Chao Phraya Chakri deposed King Taksin of the Thonburi Kingdom in 1982, he relocated the Siamese capital city to Bangkok and revived society under the name of his new Rattanakosin Kingdom (Prathepweti, 1995). Although royal monasteries had been commissioned much earlier in Thai history, there was a particular interest in their restoration during the reign of the Rattanakosin monarchs.

  • Environmental Changes in the Semarang-Grobogan Railroad Line Area As the Result of the Change in Transportation Policy
Environmental Changes in the Semarang-Grobogan Railroad Line Area as the Result of the Change in Transportation Policy Endah Sri Hartatik1, Agust Supriyono2, Budi Puspo Priyadi3, Wasino4, Fitri Amalia Shintasiwi5 {[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]} 1,2,3Diponegoro University, Indonesia 4,5Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia Abstract. Train is a kind of mass transportation in Indonesia which has expanded widely in the late 19th and early of 20th centuries. However, since the 1980s, this kind of transportation has not developed. Many railroad tracks were closed because train got a rival, namely road transportation. One of the non-functioning railroad line was the Semarang-Grobogan line. This paper examines environmental changes due to the closure of the railroad line. The method used was the historical method with document data sources and oral historical interview. The results showed that there had been an environmental change in the railroad. The train station which was originally a very clean city center became a densely populated and slum settlement center. In addition, selling stalls which have been established made the station not visible. This pattern occurred in all stations such as Godong, Purwodadi Kota, and Wirosari Stations. These environmental changes were not followed by environmental arrangements. Therefore, this made the land ownership status belonged to Indonesian Railway Company legally, but factually, it was occupied by the surrounding population. Based on these data, it was necessary to have a synergistic environmental management policy between the government of Grobogan Regency and Indonesian Railway Company. Keywords: Environmental Changes, Train, Kind of Transportation, Settlement, Shopping Complex, Slum.

Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT Regional cooperation among local government is a must for the efficient management of public administration. The state has been implementing regulations on such cooperation. However, there are regions which reluctant to cooperate, especially with the adjacent areas. This method used is the study of literature, this paper will conduct an in-depth exploration of collaborative activities in Selingkar Wilis in East Java Province. Selingkar Wilis consists of six regencies (Tulungagung, Trenggalek, Ponorogo, Madiun, Nganjuk, and Kediri). These areas are provincial strategic areas which will be developed into a new tourism destination. Moreover, according to the preliminary study there are some problems hampering such cooperation, due mainly to regional selfishness. Therefore, this paper shows various regional cooperation models that aims to illustrate the cooperation among regions. These efforts are a must for the better development management among Selingkar Wilis areas. From the results of the study in the model offered for inter-regional cooperation activities, what is appropriate is the joint secretariat, which consists of three components, namely the local government, the private sector, and the daily executive board.
