Public Meetings

Last Night In City Council

Last night the Golden City Council approved Resolution 2806, naming a parcel of land located in North Golden after Tom Schweich, a Golden resident who has performed extensive field studies to document the rich botanic diversity on the land. “Schweich Hill” is located just to the east of the Cannonball Creek Brewery.

Also approved was Ordinance 2167, which amends the Municipal Code to grant authority to the City Manager to alter the hours of usage for parks and trails within the City. This Ordinance is in response to challenges presented by usage of the Lubahn Trail which previously had a posted usage of “24 hours each day to pedestrian and bicycle traffic” and will allow the City to better align with the posted hours of trails in Jefferson County Open Space.

Council read two proclamations into the record.

The first proclamation acknowledges August 26th as Women’s Equality Day, a national day to celebrate the importance of the Women’s Suffrage Movement and the work to secure and expand equal rights for women.

September 11th Commemoration – Mayor Laura Weinberg signed a proclamation encouraging residents of the City of Golden “to gather with the brave members of the Golden Fire Department and the Golden Police Department for the September 11th – 20th Anniversary Commemoration on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in Parfet Park, to pause and remember those lost on 9/11/2001, especially those public servants that gave the ultimate sacrifice that day in the service of others.”
