Posters include promotional materials, bills, broadsides and placards. The original art collection includes paintings, drawings, engravings, etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts. Miscellaneous objects include three-dimensional objects such as buttons, ribbons, badges, tags, stickers, and puzzles. All the material relates to the Yukon and dates from 1828 to the present. Much of the material advertises events and activities. There are over 500 posters, 50 miscellaneous objects, and 50 original art items. The descriptions in the catalogue are organized by type: Miscellaneous Items, Original Art, and Posters. Within each category, the descriptions are filed according to their location codes. The location code is located in the right hand corner. The first letter of the location code indicates the type of material: O = Original Art, M = Miscellaneous Item, and P = Poster. e.g. O-56 P-434 M-32 The location code is required to have the item retrieved. Many of the items have been acquired as single, independent items. In some instances, an item may be part of a collection or fonds. In such cases, the provenance or collection name is given in the description. To view the related material, please see the fonds or collection description filed in the Reference Room. SUBJECT INDEX The descriptions have been subject indexed according to the topics or names that relate to the item. Many of the items have two subject headings, usually a specific heading and more general heading. The subject index lists all of the headings and the location code of the description that pertains to that heading. Refer to the appropriate section to find the item in question. TITLE INDEX The title index allows access to the material based on the title of the description. The titles have been sorted alphabetically, and are followed by the location code. Refer to the appropriate section to find the item in question. RETRIEVAL OF ITEMS FOUND IN THE CATALOGUE All of the materials in the catalogue can be viewed by filling out a retrieval slip and submitting it to the Reference Staff member at the front desk. Guide to Forty Mile The Forty Mile townsite is part of the Forty trading post and store established in 1893. Mile, Fort Cudahy and Fort Constantine Both of these sites are across the Fortymile Historic Site. The site is located at the River from the townsite of Forty Mile. The mouth of the Fortymile River where ground is marshy and the remains are fragile it empties into the Yukon River, 67 km so it recommended that visitors restrict their upstream from the Alaska/Yukon border activities to the Forty Mile townsite. and 88 km downriver from Dawson City. The Forty Mile, Fort Cudahy and Fort Generations of First Nation people camped Constantine Historic Site is protected under at the mouth of the Fortymile River to the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Final Agreement hunt and fish in the area.

    Yukon Legislative Assembly Office ____________________________________________________________________________ Box 2703 (A-9), Whitehorse, Yukon Y1A 2C6 Telephone (867) 667-5498 Fax (867) 393-6280 •Email [email protected] Members Elected to the Yukon Territorial Council or the Yukon Legislative Assembly 1900-2016 (as of November 30, 2019) Section 5 of An Act to Provide for the Government of the Yukon District (The Yukon Territory Act) (1898) created a council of not more than six persons to aid the Commissioner of the Yukon Territory in the administration of the territory. This council was to be entirely composed of persons appointed by the Governor in Council. In 1899 the Parliament of Canada amended the Act to increase the size of the council by adding two elected members to it. A further amendment in 1902 added three more elected members to the council. In 1908 the Act was again amended to provide for an entirely elected council of 10 members. Prior to the 1978 general election, Members were elected to the territorial council or legislative assembly as independent members. Some, however, had known federal political affiliations. That is what is noted in the ‘Party’ column for those members elected prior to 1978. The list of confirmed candidates for the 19 electoral districts is attached. Summary of Nominations ● There is a total of 57 candidates. ● There are 19 Yukon Liberal Party candidates. ● There are 19 Yukon New Democratic Party candidates. ● There are 18 Yukon Party candidates (all electoral districts except Vuntut Gwitchin). ● There is 1 independent candidate (Mountainview). ● There are no Yukon Green Party candidates. The registration of Yukon Green Party as a registered political party will be cancelled as the Elections Act statutory threshold of a minimum of two candidates in the election was not met. After the close of nomination, there will be a drawing of lots for candidate ballot order. The ballots will be printed and distributed for use at the Advance Polls (Sunday April 4 and Monday April 5) and on Polling Day (Monday April 12). Who Are My Candidates? Government of Yukon, Whitehorse, Yukon 1.0 Abstract Risk assessment techniques were used to identify the risk associated with a breach of a landslide dam in the Clinton Creek valley at the former Clinton Creek Asbestos Mine, which is located about 100 km northwest of Dawson City, Yukon. Since closure of the mine in 1978, concerns have been raised with respect to the physical condition of the site, in particular downstream hazards associated with breaching of the landslide dam forming the Hudgeon Lake outlet. The risk was mitigated by designing a stable channel over the landslide dam, also known as the Clinton Creek waste rock dump, of which the most important design component is the gabion drop structures. The gabion drop structures act as grade control points which are connected by a nearly flat graded channel to prevent erosion of the channel fill materials. Gabions were selected because they are simple to construct yet robust and flexible enough to accommodate some lateral movement of the creeping landslide mass. The channel stabilization works consist of four gabion drop structures constructed within the first 200 m of the channel downstream of the Hudgeon lake outlet. In the fall of 2002, the first stage of these repairs was undertaken, which included the construction of Drop Structure #1 and re- grading of the Hudgeon Lake outlet. The second drop structure was built in 2003 and the last two drop structures were constructed in 2004.
