Randy noted that the CTRRC planned to comment regarding the timing of the project with the spring bird migration. • CBC Radio Reception: Rich Martin spoke regarding the lack of CBC Whitehorse reception since the signal was switched from AM to FM. Rich indicated he has written to Kevin Barr, Ryan Leif, the CRTC, and the president of CBC Whitehorse. Rich was informed that the existing decommissioned AM tower could be modified for $6000 to rebroadcast the signal in FM. Rich is asking for more people to complain about this issue and for TAC to write a letter of support.

One of these amendments extended to women the right to vote in elections for members of the territorial council and be candidates for election. At the same time the size of the council was reduced from 10 members to three and the annual indemnity for councillors was reduced from $600 to $400. The first election in which women could vote and run as candidates was held on February 25, 1920. The chart below lists all women elected to the Yukon Territorial Council or Yukon Legislative Assembly. A member’s term begins on the day the member is elected either in a general election or by-election. The member’s term ends on the day the member resigns or dies, or the day before an election where a member is defeated at the polls or chooses to not run. Geoff Peters has been promoted to Corporal, which leaves the detachment 1 member short for 3-4 months before Cpl Peters’ position is backfilled. • Zero Waste Campaign: Council questioned whether this was more appropriate for AYC or Community Services. Kevin Barr informed TAC that there have been problems with the issuing of the contract for transportation of the recyclables. It was further noted that transfer stations are on the up-coming LAC forum agenda. TAC decided to forward this item to the December 4th meeting. The act gave persons with the legal status of an ‘Indian’ the right to vote and run as a candidate in Canadian elections. The changes first applied to elections for the Yukon Territorial Council in the 1961 general election. In the chart below, a member’s term begins on the day the member is elected either in a general election or by-election. The member’s term ends on the day the member resigns or dies, or the day before an election where a member is defeated at the polls or chooses to not run.
