Each day, children stream into the same school building, only to study separately, using separate textbooks, while learning in different languages. The ethnic Croatians from the suburbs are taught in the right side of the building. They are mostly Roman Catholics. The Bosnian Muslim students who live mostly in the city are taught in the left side. For many of the students, the split is an unwanted relic of Bosnia’s ethnic wars of the 1990s among Serbs, Croats and Muslims. “They don’t want us to socialize in school,” said Iman Maslic, 18, a Muslim student, ”so we go to cafes after class and hang out together there.” But unwanted or not, the divide is deepening in a Bosnia where nationalist politicians are again stoking ethnic rivalries.     Bosnia and Herzegovina Page 1 of 7 Bosnia and Herzegovina International Religious Freedom Report 2008 Released by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor The Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the entity Constitutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Federation) and the Republika Srpska (RS) provide for freedom of religion; the Law on Religious Freedom also provides comprehensive rights to religious communities. These and other laws and policies contributed to the generally free practice of religion. The Government generally respected religious freedom in practice. Government protection of religious freedom improved slightly during the period covered by this report; however, local authorities continued at times to restrict religious freedom of minority religious groups. Societal abuses and discrimination based on religious affiliation, belief, or practice persisted. Discrimination against religious minorities occurred in nearly all parts of the country. The number of incidents targeting religious symbols, clerics, and property in the three ethnic majority areas decreased. Local religious leaders and politicians contributed to intolerance and an increase in nationalism through public statements. Religious symbols were often misused for political purposes. A number of illegally constructed religious objects continued to cause tension and conflict in various communities. The U.S. Government discusses religious freedom with the Government and leaders from the four traditional religious communities and emerging religious groups as part of its overall policy to promote human rights and reconciliation. The U.S. Embassy supported religious communities in their efforts to acquire permits to build new religious structures. The Embassy also assisted religious communities regarding restitution of property and supported several exchange, speaking, and cultural programs promoting religious freedom.

    CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION 1.1 Research Background Bosnian War (Bosnian Genocide) from 1992 until 1995 was the worst massacre occurred since the Holocaust in the World War II. In 1992, Serbia set out to “ethnically cleanse” Bosnian territory by regularly eliminated all Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks). Serbian together with Bosnian Serbs ethnic attacked Bosniaks with former Yugoslavian military equipment, and then surrounded Sarajevo as the capital city of BiH. In consequence, many Bosniaks were driven into concentration camps, where Bosniaks women and girls were raped and other civilians were tortured, starved and murdered (Lampe, 2019). This conquest made 70% of the territories in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), wherein the closest Republic from Serbia, was ethnically cleansed from Bosniaks and Croats civilians (Flögel, Lauc, and Goreta, 2010). The Serbian army first traced of the boundary along the valley of Drina, whereabouts plenty of towns with Muslim majority. In the first weeks of April, Serb military force that was backed up by regular units of the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) struck into districts such as Zvornik, Višegrad, Bratunac, Srebrenica, and Foca, and then attacked, exiled, murdered, terrorized, and expelled the poor defenses of the Muslim populations. Subsequently, millions of Bosnian Muslims were displaced and forced in immigrating to other safer country as refugee (Nation, 2003, p. 160, 189, 203). In fact, one of the safest powerful countries that Bosniak refugees chose to settle in was United States. In 1992, after 1 2 the Bosnian War started, there was a wave of Bosnian refugees to United States that had primarily been Muslim. SEECOF-18, MedCOF-9 Climate outlook for the 2018 winter season: Temperature and Precipitation According to the seasonal forecast based on tercile ranks and climate classification ratings, thermal conditions over the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina for winter 2018 had been described by the following categories: above upper tercille over all the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina wіth probability of 50% ( the portion 2, left). Figure1: Temp (left) and PRC tot (right) DJF18 Outlook For the southern area, along the coastal region, precipitation amounts had been predicted like below lower tercile value and “no clear signal” for the remaining part of the country (the portions 3 and 2, right). The Republika Srpska registered warm air thermal conditions and wery wet to extremely wet conditions over the most stations with acumulated snow cover greater than normal; The last winter season has been 11th warmest over the period 1952-2018 (7th warmest for the 1981-2018) Temperature, daily max, reached the first lowest value from 1961 (Bijeljina, Banja Luka, Doboj, Sokolac...) on several days from 25-28 feb. Lowest daily maximums Тxn were exceeded on 26-28 february Precipitation total reached 10th highest over the Southern and 5th max value over the rest in 137 years long data series. In Banja Luka, accumulated precipitation of 146mm, represents the second highest from 1862 years and differs from the absolute maximum (148mm;1889) just in 2mm. Snow depth on the end February days reached 2-3 highest value in the north-western part (Krupa na Uni, 96cm).

    TOURISTIC MOVEMENT IN JAHORINA MOUNTAIN FROM 1999 TO 2016 Emilija Dostović Abstract: Mountain Jahorina – a so called “snow beauty”, represents one of the largest ski and winter resorts in the Balkans. During the 14th Winter Olympic Games in 1984 this region has reached considerable touristic development. The one thing that separates Jahorina as a Winter Olympic Center from the rest is the sheer quality of ski tracks located on site, which are suitable for professionals and beginners alike. Apart from skiing activities, visitors can enjoy the natural scenery that this region has to offer. The mild climate, rich hydrography, lush flora and fauna and anthropogenic values can be found here as well. This is a place where Western and Eastern civilizations meet, sometimes even collide but they enrich this region together nonetheless through their long and fascinating history. After the Winter Olympic Games, a three-year civil war, the economic crisis that followed and basic negligence has resulted in a decline of visitors during the years. This area also suffered from a decline of infrastructure capital and material base, reduction of birth rate and emigration of the population. This research shows that Jahorina has a good potential to be a regional tourist centre that could be attractive for visiting at any time of the year. Key factors for a recent tourism development of mountain Jahorina as well as the increase of visitors in the period from 1999 and information about existing infrastructure is shown in the next pages of this paper. As an increase of visitors is apparent in recent time, it gives hope and motive for further work on infrastructure and capacity development for sports, winter and summer activities.
