Catch Wrestling Alliance Announces the First Catch Wrestling Based Scholastic Wrestling Program! For Immediate Release
LOS ANGELES -- The Catch Wrestling Alliance makes history again with the creation of the first Catch Wrestling based youth wrestling program in the creation of the first Catch Wrestling based youth wrestling program in a public school. The program is part of the Emerson Sports Academy at Ralph Waldo Emerson Charter Middle School in West Los Angeles. The goal is to create scholar athletes in accordance with the Pyramid of Success created by legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. To be part of the program, children must maintain a grade point average above 3.0 in addition to doing extra school work.
The program is coached by Dr. Raul Ramirez main organizer of the Catch Wrestling Alliance. “We will focus on takedowns, rides, pins, escapes, reversals,” Dr. Ramirez explained. "With a Catch Wrestling base, a wrestler can easily transition to other styles of wrestling like folkstyle, freestyle and submission grappling. We will be giving them a competitive edge that will make them wrestling standouts."
Catch as Catch Can Wrestling, or Catch Wrestling is the base style of modern folkstyle and freestyle wrestling, yet the latter styles have evolved into different sports due to the addition of point systems and many rules. The significance of this program is that middle school children will be learning authentic Catch Wrestling fundamentals that are not taught in any scholastic wrestling program in the United States. These fundamental techniques equate to a lost art that can make one great at all styles of wrestling and submission grappling.
Dr. Ramirez is an experienced Catch Wrestling coach that has over 15 years of martial arts coaching experience. He wrestles for Snake Pit Wigan the birthplace of Catch Wrestling and is undefeated in international Catch Wrestling competition. He just got back from teaching the national freestyle wrestling team of Singapore where his Catch Wrestling instruction was well received.
Dr. Ramirez also coaches in a private studio located in Culver City, California called, Catch Wrestling Los Angeles.
