Sept. 7, we literally “kicked off” the year with a win in our inaugural football game, beating the Stetson Hatters 20-13. Our young men played with great spirit and energy. I can’t imagine a President Catanese joins the more fitting way to open a new chapter in the life of the university. cheerleaders, ready to greet We recently got the news that, for the fourth straight year, the football team for their first U.S. News & World Report ranks us as a Tier One Best National Panther Prowl across campus during Sept. 7 tailgating. University. Among the 1,500 institutions annually assessed by the publication, Florida Tech was again among the top national universities and the second-highest ranked private university in the state, behind only the University of Miami. Further, Florida Tech earned praise for being the second-most internationally diverse National University in the country. We hope you’ll join us for Homecoming 2013, Oct. 22–26, as we reflect on some of these accomplishments and continue planning for the future. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and reminisce about days gone by. Increasing enrollment, expanding programs and ongoing stories of alumni success converge to make Florida Tech a continued point of pride for us all. It is dedicated in purpose and program to translating this country's heritage of democratic ideals into a way of life for all Americans in our time. Overt and unabashed anti-Semitism was the order of the day: resort advertising that read, "No do~! No Jews!"; offensive caricatures of Jews in magazine cartoons; crude and cruel stereotypes on stage and screen; best-seller circulation of such anti Semitic documents as "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"; the trial by prejudice of Leo Frank, a "Yankee Jew" accused of rape and murder in Atlanta, Ga., a few years after the Bellus "ritual murder" case in Russia.

The Club, which started out as a circle consisting of Peirce‘s own students in his logic class, held the total of 43 meetings, with 110 presentations delivered, of which 33 were classified as principal papers. These presentations, as we document in this paper, testify the club‘s impact on the development of the methodology of sciences in the late 19th-century United States. Of particular interest is the close relation of the new and emerging scientific approaches to philosophical, methodological and logical issues discussed by the Club‘s members.
