So it seems that social function has priority on pure cognitive in the brain. The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between conformity and general memory. The current study is a descriptive-correlational research by using prediction (regression) method. For doing this, 167 students were selected via the multistage cluster method from Bonab and Tabriz Payam Noor universities. For gathering data, the Conformity L-72 Test and general memory Questionnaire (PRMQ) were used. The data were analyzed by using 3earson‘s Correlation test and Liner Regression methods. According to the results, the predictive role of conformity for errors in the general memory was confirmed (P<0/01). So that conformity explained 46% of general memory errors variance. Based on these results, it seems that social and cognitive functions of the brain are linked together to meet common goals. Conformity Effects in Memory for Actions

SCHWARTZ Florida International University, Miami, Florida The goal of this research was to examine whether memories for actions can be affected by information re- ported by another person. In two studies, pairs of participants performed 48 of a set of 96 actions. In Study 1, both members of the pairs performed the same actions, and in Study 2, they performed different actions. One week later, the members of the pairs were questioned together about whether they had or had not done all 96 actions. What one person reported greatly influenced what the other person reported for both correct and in- correct responses. This influence was maintained when the participants were later tested individually, and the participants described having pictorial memories for doing many of the actions that they had not done but had merely been suggested. SHORT SYNOPSIS After a global neurological epidemic, those who remain search for meaning and connection in a world without memory. Five interwoven stories explore how we might learn, love and communicate in a future that has no past. LOVE Two lovers struggle to stay together, afraid that if separated, they will forget each other1 forever. FAMILY A boy loses his guardian and searches for a new home 2beyond the limits of the city. MORALITY A violent young man takes what he 3needs to survive, no matter the cost. LEARNING A professor researching a cure makes a connection that is not what he expected.4 FREEDOM A girl living with her father in an underground bunker safe from the virus must decide whether to risk infection to regain her freedom. Memory Retrieval and the Passage of Time: from Reconsolidation and Strengthening to Extinction

Alberini1,2 Departments of 1Neuroscience and 2Psychiatry, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, New York, 10029 An established memory can be made transiently labile if retrieved or reactivated. Over time, it becomes again resistant to disruption and this process that renders the memory stable is termed reconsolidation. The reasons why a memory becomes labile after retrieval and reconsolidates still remains debated. Here, using inhibitory avoidance learning in rats, we provide evidence that retrievals of a young memory, which are accompanied by its reconsolidation, result in memory strengthening and contribute to its overall consolidation. This function associated to reconsolidation is temporally limited. With the passage of time, the stored memory undergoes important changes, as revealed by the behavioral outcomes of its retrieval. Over time, without explicit retrievals, memory first strengthens and becomes refractory to both retrieval-dependent interference and strengthening. At later times, the same retrievals that lead to reconsolidation of a young memory extinguish an older memory. We conclude that the storage of information is very dynamic and that its temporal evolution regulates behavioral outcomes. These results are important for potential clinical applications.
