    LA VIDA ES UN BOLERO ónde? lCuándo? lEn qué circustancias? lCómo se desarrolló? lQuiénes fueron sus principales compositores? D Hace poco más de 100 años que el bole­ ro nació en Cuba y se fue expandiendo en las Antillas y en varios países de la América Latina. Se atribuye el nacimiento del bolero a una de­ rivación del danzón cubano, ya que rítmicamen­ te tienen mucha relación. La habanera tiene mu­ cho que ver con la evolución del bolero. Quizás la habanera «TU» de Eduardo Sánchez de Fuen­ tes haya sido la más popular habanera de todos los tiempos. Los boleros compuestos a finales del siglo pa­ sado, y a principios del Siglo XX, eran cantados por aquellos boleristas o trovadores, acompaña­ dos de guitarras que entonaban sus canciones en las serenatas, tan en moda en aquellos años. El primer bolero compuesto, se efectuó en el año 1885 por Pepe Sánchez y lo tituló «TRISTE­ ZAS». Vivió entonces el bolero, en aquellos años, su etapa de formacióny estructuración. Se considera a José (Pepe) Sánchez, como el pione­ ro de definir los rasgos del estilo del bolero. Sánchez nació en Cuba; se le conocía como el maestro. No tuvo preparación académica alguna. Todo fue por intuición, sin embargo compuso obras admirables como «Pobre Artista», «Cuba mi Patria Querida», «Esperanza», «Elvira» y otros. Los primeros trovadores y cantores de boleros en Cuba, lo fueron: Sindo Garay, Manuel Coro­ na, Alberto Villalón y Rosendo Ruiz. En México y las Antillas, los boleros fueron aumentando. El bolero en Cuba se baila más li­ gero que en Puerto Rico, República Dominica­ na, Venezuela, etc.

Nonetheless, the biographical series “Celia” aired by Telemundo in 2015 featured an Afro Latino cast to depict the life of Cuban salsa singer Celia Cruz. This study examines the portrayal of Afro Latinos and Latinas through a content analysis of the telenovela. Even though, Afro Latino characters were depicted in a positive light, they were still portrayed as something other than panethnic. This research contributes an empirical analysis of the representation of minorities in Latino media. He took those genres and created melodies and lyrics that pertained to his homeland, thereby giving them a distinct Puerto Rican voice. Today he is considered not just the greatest Puerto Rican composer, but one of the best in Latin America, because many of his songs, such as the anthem, Lamento Borincano, a lament about a poor farmer who can’t sell his goods, resonated throughout the region.

Se graduó de pianista a los 16 años en el Conservatorio de su ciudad natal. Al siguiente año se traslada a La Habana y comienza como pianista de cine silente en el teatro Gloria. Empieza el cine sonoro y tiene que trabajar en charangas danzoneras. El flautista Luis Carrillo le enseña los rudimentos de arreglar. Trabaja con distintos grupos hasta llegar a una de las mejores charangas de su época, la de Tata Pereira que tocaba en la Academia Havana Sport. Sacasas se adentra en el estilo ya existente de solos de piano en los danzones, iniciado por Romeu y otros maestros, y pronto se hace famoso por su estilo enérgico, dinámico. En 1936 Miguelito Valdés ingresa como cantante en la orquesta de los Hermanos Castro, y convence a su director Manolo, que el pianista Juanito Castro, no está a la altura de la orquesta.
