Then kill Commander Zazush, on the first floor, and obtain the idol. Then kill Commander Zeruzsh, on the second floor, to get the ring. Then go to the imperial guard chamber and kill the guards until one of the named Mobs spawns. They drop the insignia. Combine the idol, ring and insignia in the pouch and you will receive the Ring of Shissar, which gets you into the Emperor's Chamber. Use fungus glands when *not* cursed to raise agro. Hotkey to tell curer+ spellshielder when proc. Make sure has DI. Heals should be hitting for no more than 3k. Cure Druid- Cure curse on proc.. also times procs consider prempetive spam heal followed by cure. SS wizard - Spellshield MT (and any rampage tanks) on PROC or tell. - 9 - Everquest Strategies Rampage tanks - should get on agro as early as possible, use arrow/shruiken on pull... use disc from start until slow. Don't be afraid to mend/FD. Let rampage healers know when on rampage after each rampage round. Get spellshield/DI. IF proced on ask for ss refresh. Rampage healer - heal rampage tank-- chain ch in 2 person (6 sec) rotation premptively, duck if not needed Low level add tank team- Keep add tanked away from main force (in wall preferably). Do not let low health agro summon occur. When respawn gain agro quickly and position. Yellow Con add tank team- Heal extra early due to HT/Balance procs of npc. Pick up and agro new spawns fast. Enchanters with memory should blur mobs they are mezing to prevent heal agro from building up on a break. Dictate should be loaded as backup only. Support: Mods Mods, + MT spellshield/cure. Debuff adds as time permits. Damage Teams: If get on rampage run as far away as possible from emperor until off. Also can assist on Devouer (yellow con ONLY) to give cleric some med. Control agro.. no ae but no healer either. Non ss wizards should manaburn at 90% health or so. SK/nec should get AC debuff in. After shaman Malo necro need to get in Scent of Terris. DRUIDS MUST NOT USE ROS. Shaman should be using disease based slow at this point. Shaman need to coordnate to insure the adds remain slowed. - 10 - Everquest Strategies Issues During Fight In all seriousnes, there are 4 main issues this fight. 1) adds 2) rampage 3) tanking Emperor 4) Damaging emperor #1 Adds Bare minimum is 2 knights 2 clerics 4 enchanters to handle adds. This is risky since it relies on dictate, and will space the spawns unfavorably for the emperor fight. For more control over respawns we will probably use 4 cleric, 4 tank and 4 ench. BTW for this fight gather mana for enchanters is STRONGLY recommended, so more mods can go to clerics and wizards. We will require at 5 cleric roatation after slow at a bare minimum...and 2 clerics on rampage at the minimum, that pretty much spells out how we have to handle the adds. #2 Rampage Establishing rampage on a non rooted mob that hits this hard will be a challenge. We dont have the option to knight agro and memblurr. We may end up having to go somewhat reactive. This requires people to be observant when they get rampaged, not wait for us to ask in GU who is on rampage. #3 Tanking The emperor as far as we know (admittdly its been a while since we engaged procs a serious DD (4k) and long lasting deagro proc. To counter this we will need a warior with dual EB weapons and/or, or loads of fungus beastglands. - 11 - Everquest Strategies #4 Damage Folks need to be aware of the potential DPS of their proc weapons and chose them or shissar bane weaponry as appropriate. The first part entails gathering 10 different shards from all over luclin. 2. For the second part, you will need to obtain a Scepter Frame and combine the 10 shards to reassemble the Scepter. This Scepter is now a 2 slot container. 3. The third part will require the killing of the Emperor and looting a Staff. This Staff has 2 charges of Summon a Shaded Sphere. Zaar of Triton confirmed it with : Yea 2x charges of 20 power source, so 40. 4. The fourth part is the re-energizing of the Scepter by combining the Orb of Luclinite and the summoned Shaded Sphere in the reassembled Scepter. 5. Enjoy your key as the final product is the Scepter of Shadows aka Vex Thal Key - Item 22198 in Magelo. 6. Use key to enter Vex Thal

Brookey, Northern Illinois University ABSTRACT This is a critical cultural and political economic analysis of the video game as an engine of global anxiety and desire. Attempting to move beyond conventional studies of the video game as a thing-in-itself, relatively self-contained as a textual, ludic, or even technological (in the narrow sense of the word) phenomenon, I propose that gaming has come to operate as an epistemological imperative that extends beyond the site of gaming in itself. Play and pleasure have come to affect sites of culture and the structural formation of various populations beyond those conceived of as belonging to conventional gaming populations: the workplace, consumer experiences, education, warfare, and even the practice of politics itself, amongst other domains. Indeed, the central claim of this dissertation is that the video game operates with the same political and cultural gravity as that ascribed to the prison by Michel Foucault. That is, just as the prison operated as the discursive site wherein the disciplinary imaginary was honed, so too does digital play operate as that discursive site wherein the ludic imperative has emerged. To make this claim, I have had to move beyond the conventional theoretical frameworks utilized in the analysis of video games.

Wargaming the Middle East: The Evolution of Simulated Battlefields from Chequerboards to Virtual Worlds and Instrumented Artificial Cities Janina Schupp Abstract Shortly after the end of a tank combat during the Gulf War, a team of US Army historians, scientists, and engineers flew to Iraq to gather detailed data of the battle. The collected information was used to create an exact virtual simulation of the combat for training. The mapping capability – offered by the resulting simulation game 73 Easting – to visualize the battlefield from any position and point in time revolutionized military exercises. With ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, these digital training cartographies are now linked to real bodies and vehicles through digital and mobile technologies during live training in artificially constructed villages. This chapter analyses this evolution and critically investigates the growing ‘gamification’ ensuing in these representations of Middle Eastern battlefields. The purpose of this paper is to examine the theory Metagame Bounds by applying it to League of Legends and Dota 2, to see if it is a valid way of looking at character balance in the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game genre. The main mode of both games consist of matches played on a map where a team of five players is up against another team of five players. Characters in the games generally have four abilities and a number of attributes, making them complex to compare without context. We gathered character data from websites and entered the data into a file that we used with the Metagame Bounds application. We compared the graphs that the data yielded with how often a character wins and how often it is played. To examine whether the characters were balanced we also played the games and analysed the characters in depth. All statistical data gathered was retrieved over the span of a few hours on the 21st of April 2015 from the websites Champion.gg for League of Legends and Dotabuff for Dota 2. Sirlin’s (2001) definition of multiplayer game balance is “A multiplayer game is balanced if a reasonably large number of options available to the player are viable – especially, but not limited to, during high-level play by expert players.” and with the data we see that these games are balanced in terms of characters according to that definition.

As developing technologies improve, so does the complexity and flexibility of what can be created. Encounters, along with all aspects of any gaming experience, have evolved along with the technologies that create them. These intense combat instances, often times referred to as “bosses”, represent a chance for the developer to challenge player skill, cooperation, and coordination. In addition to being major challenges, encounters also allow players to feel a sense of progression as they learn and adapt to mechanics incorporated within an encounter’s design. Eventually these mechanics are mastered, and surmounted to a lasting sense of accomplishment and success. This project details a personal process of encounter design from initial conception to eventual player testing, along with design choices, outside influences, and development methods.

Through their investigations with these NGSS-aligned lessons, students develop an understanding of salmon life cycles; internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction; different inherited traits; and that the environment can also affect the traits that these fish develop.
