The Lord Lieutenant is thus the chief executive authority in that county, through whom the policy decisions of the central government would be directed. Conversely he would represent the considerations of the county at Court and to the government. Because of these exalted duties the honour was usually given to the principal aristocratic landowner in the county. Deputy lieutenants would be appointed to carry out the directions given by him. The office also had the power to recommend, and so thus constitute, the Commission of the Peace, the body of justices of the peace or magistrates who supervised the legal and administrative systems of the county though the medium of their Quarter Sessions court. The Lord Lieutenant also had responsibility for local defence and accordingly controlled the county militia forces. This aspect of his work is dealt with in more detail in the second introduction. The collection catalogued below contains some of the working papers, mainly correspondence, of four successive Lord Lieutenants of Caernarvonshire and one future Lord Lieutenant as a Vice Lieutenant. -

6.4 Supply and Quality of Housing
6.4 Managing Growth and Development Supply and Quality of Housing 6.4 SUPPLY AND QUALITY OF HOUSING SCALE OF HOUSING 6.4.1 Context • A key aim of national planning policy is to create sustainable mixed communities for current and future residents. • Local planning authorities must ensure that sufficient land is genuinely available or will become available to provide a 5-year supply of land for housing. • Local planning authorities, in partnership with the community, including the private sector, must develop policies to meet the challenges and particular circumstances evident within specific locations in their areas. • The purpose of the Single Integrated Plan and each Council’s Strategic/ Corporate Plan is to promote economic, social and environmental wellbeing in Anglesey and Gwynedd. • Through their Strategic/ Corporate Plans and their Housing Strategies, each Council seeks to facilitate the provision of an adequate amount of housing to satisfy the needs of local communities in terms of type and affordability. Introduction 6.4.2 The Plan is expected to deliver one of the Government’s key housing goals that aims to ensure that more housing of the right type be provided and that more choice should be provided. The creation of a healthy and balanced housing market is also a key objective of both Councils, and together with other strategies and programmes being undertaken by the Councils and other organisations, the Plan should ensure the use of land supports the delivery of sustainable communities which in turn helps to sustain or strengthen the well-being of the Welsh language. Failing to do this will undermine the Councils’ economic strategies and restrict our ability through the planning system to secure affordable housing to meet the very acute needs of many communities. -

SCHEDULE OF FOCUSSED CHANGES ADDENDUM TO THE ANGLESEY AND GWYNEDD JOINT LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN, DEPOSIT PLAN 2011 - 2026 February 2016 Contents: Page 1 Introduction 1 2 What is a Focussed Change? 1 3 How to make and submit representations on the 2 Focussed Changes 4 Explaining the Focussed Changes 3 5 Schedule of Focussed Changes (Written Statement) 4 6 Schedule of Focussed Changes (Maps) 131 1 Introduction 1.1 The Gwynedd and Anglesey Joint Local Development Plan - Deposit Plan was subject to public consultation from 14 February 2015 to 31 March 2015. 1,697 representations were received (including objections) from 470 individuals and various organisations. The representations referred to the written statement and the proposals and constraints maps. After carefully considering the representations, the Isle of Anglesey County Council and Gwynedd Council, via the Joint Planning Policy Committee, have decided on how to respond to the representations. The response to the individual representations can be seen in an Addendum to the Consultation Report which will be published when we submit documents to the Welsh Government during March 2016. The submission stage, which involves sending documents to the Welsh Government will lead to the appointment of an independent Inspector from the Planning Inspectorate, who will conduct an Examination of the Joint Local Development Plan. More information about the submission stage can be seen on both Councils' websites at www.ynysmon.gov.uk/cdlland www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/cdll. 1.2 After having carefully considered the representations it is considered that there are grounds to propose Focussed Changes to the Deposit Plan. -

All these papers were found at 24 Church St. and many were decayed and dirty when deposited. Richard Jones appeared not to have thrown away most of his papers and to have kept draft of many of his letters. Unfortunately the papers were very mixed up and therefore the arrangement, mainly by subject is artificial. The papers include earlier records of his family and in particular his mother Ann and his wife Ellen/Nellie and his children Griff, Dorothy/Dolly and Myfanwy/Myfi. Many records are of the properties which Ann and Richard rented out to visitors in Beaumaris and to tenants mainly in Beaumaris, Bangor and Llanfairfechan. Richard Jones was on Beaumaris Town Council and involved in many Beaumaris societies, including being honorary secretary etc. of some. The records also include those of the currier business of Richard Jones and other family businesses of Griffith Jones, grocer and leather dealer, Griffith Price Jones, grocer and currier; Griffith Jones, tanner, currier, general and leather merchant and Dr Evans. -
