Press Release 13 1 Alien & Predator Marathon The insignia for the Alien & Predator Marathon features the emblem for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation prominently displayed at the top. All aspects of life revolve around the Company. The Company is first and foremost. Everything else is secondary. Human lives are meaningless to the Company. Crews are expendable. The marathon's name is below the Weyland-Yutani logo, the two components written in each series' respective typeface. Below that are Predator glyphs that spell out the tagline for Alien vs. Predator: "Whoever wins, we lose." Never mind how forgettable that particular chapter of the franchise is, its tagline is appropriate for both series as a collective whole. The eight movies that make up the two days of the marathon are depicted along the bottom sides. 2 Alien Directed by Ridley Scott. 117 minutes (theatrical); 137 (special edition). Two films that, under normal circumstances, would never have crossed over into one another's universe. They wouldn't have, if a set decorator on Predator 2 had not snuck an alien xenomorph's skull into a trophy wall on the Predator spacecraft as a joke. After that the fanbase took over and the two series have become increasingly more intertwined ever since. This will be a two-part marathon. Day I will be Saturday, June 24 and will feature the four films of the Alien series. Day II will be Saturday, July 31 and will focus on the two Predator movies as well as the two Alien vs. Predator films. Start time for both days is at 3:00 PM. • • • The Alien & Predator Marathon is to be held at Josh’s House. Marathon dates: DAY I: Saturday, July 24 – Alien. DAY II: Saturday, July 31 – Predator & AvP. Particulars: Marathon guest list is open registry. Marathon format is set schedule. Marathon type is single series. Marathon length is 16 hours total. 13 .

  • Disentangling the Right of Publicity
Copyright 2017 by Eric E. Johnson Printed in U.S.A. Vol. 111, No. 4 Articles DISENTANGLING THE RIGHT OF PUBLICITY Eric E. Johnson ABSTRACT—Despite the increasing importance attached to the right of publicity, its doctrinal scope has yet to be clearly articulated. The right of publicity supposedly allows a cause of action for the commercial exploitation of a person’s name, voice, or image. The inconvenient reality, however, is that only a tiny fraction of such instances are truly actionable. This Article tackles the mismatch between the blackletter doctrine and the shape of the case law, and it aims to elucidate, in straightforward terms, what the right of publicity actually is. This Article explains how, in the absence of a clear enunciation of its scope, courts have come to define the right of publicity negatively, through the application of independent defenses based on free speech guarantees and copyright preemption. This inverted doctrinal structure has created a continuing crisis in the right of publicity, leading to unpredictable outcomes and the obstruction of clear thinking about policy concerns. The trick to making sense of the right of publicity, it turns out, is to understand that the right of publicity is not really one unitary cause of action. Instead, as this Article shows, the right of publicity is best understood as three discrete rights: an endorsement right, a merchandizing entitlement, and a right against virtual impressment. This restructuring provides predictability and removes the need to resort to constitutional doctrines and preemption analysis to resolve everyday cases. The multiple- distinct-rights view may also provide pathways to firmer theoretical groundings and more probing criticisms.

It includes everything in the first 12 issues of your favourite Sci-Fi / Nostalgia magazine NB: Interviews and features will only appear in the following categorised lists if they give the subject more than just a passing mention. I know this is subjective, but I’ve tried to use my judgement as to what constitutes ‘meat on the bone’, if you see what I mean. What follows is strictly alphabetical, except with franchises like Star Wars where you’ll find them chronologically listed for ease. Reviews will normally be of the DVD, Blu-ray or cinema release. University Communications Pauline Young, Director News www.moreheadstate.edu Morehead State University UPO Box 1100 Morehead, KY 40351-1689 (606) 783-2030 Jan.6,2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MOREHEAD, Ky.---High-tech learning at Morehead State University has received a big boost, thanks to a new grant in the humanities disciplines. Three faculty members in the Department of Communication and Theatre have written a grant that was funded by the SMARTer Kids Foundation, part of SMART Technologies Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The primary purpose of the grant, which was matched by the University's Grants Cash Match program, is to purchase SMART Board interactive whiteboards to be used in classrooms in Breckinridge Hall, the Combs Building and the Claypool-Young Art Building. The whiteboard technology is an interactive tool, by which users can substitute their fingers or hands to perform any function typically done by a computer mouse. Files can be opened, moved and altered with direct hand contact, all on a screen-like piece of equipment that measures about six feet across. It roughly combines the features of a computer monitor, a projection screen and a blackboard. The whiteboards are leading-edge educational technology, according to Dr. Cathy Thomas, associate professor of speech and project director of the grant. "We're really excited to get this technology," she said. "This truly makes Breckinridge a state of the art communication building." Dr. Thomas explained that the whiteboards work with common personal computer software, or Macintosh-compatible software, as applicable. "Basically, the computer applications we're. familiar with now will still be available with these boards." Also, she continued, the SMART Board Notebook uses something akin to "a kicked-up version ofPowerPoint." Dr.

"TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY" a Screenplay by James Cameron and William Wisher Revised final shooting script ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 EXT. CITY STREET - DAY Downtown L.A. Noon on a hot summer day. On an EXTREME LONG LENS the lunchtime crowd stacks up into a wall of humanity. In SLOW MOTION they move in herds among the glittering rows of cars jammed bumper to bumper. Heat ripples distort the torrent of faces. The image is surreal, dreamy... and like a dream it begins very slowly to DISSOLVE TO: 2 EXT. CITY RUINS - NIGHT Same spot as the last shot, but now it is a landscape in Hell. The cars are stopped in rusted rows, still bumper to bumper. The skyline of buildings beyond has been shattered by some unimaginable force like a row of kicked-down sandcastles. Wind blows through the desolation, keening with the sound of ten million dead souls. It scurries the ashes into drifts, stark white in the moonlight against the charred rubble. A TITLE CARD FADES IN: LOS ANGELES, July 11, 2029 3 ANGLE ON a heap of fire-blackened human bones. Beyond the mound is a vast tundra of skulls and shattered concrete. The rush hour crowd burned down in their tracks. 4 WE DISSOLVE TO a playground... where intense heat has half-melted the jungle gym, the blast has warped the swing set, the merry-go-round has sagged in the firestorm. Small skulls look accusingly from the ash-drifts. WE HEAR the distant echo of children's voices... playing and laughing in the sun. A silly, sing-songy rhyme as WE TRACKS SLOWLY over seared asphalt where the faint hieroglyphs of hopscotch lines are still visible.
