In 1985, fresh from England, 23-year-old Kurt Launder amazed audiences with his magical hand-cranked films. The beginnings were humble; folding chairs, a painted wall for a screen but the desire to entertain and move people has been at the core of what Arrow Productions have been doing ever since. Launder’s movies we’re wildly popular and his single screen grew into a chain of theatres around the globe; Los Angeles, London, Birmingham, New York etc and then into a movie making business. Arrow Productions haven’t had the chance to release a huge film smashing the box office yet, but we have been offered the chance to remake and re-release the successful 1976 Rocky. We believe that this will kick start our future and make our company even more successful. We are planning to re-release the 1976 Rocky on the Easter of 2016 to mark the 40-year anniversary. In the run up to the 40th anniversary we are creating a completely new film poster, blue-ray and disk casing and re-making the whole film; but using as many of the original characters from the 1976 Rocky. Rocky Balboa is a struggling small-time boxer trying to make the big time, as he works day-in day-out as a debt collector for a loan shark and fights in shady clubs for low-paid reward. Rocky is mocked and told that he’s nothing but a ‘bum’ as he hasn’t got much going for himself. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia, his managers want to set up an exhibition match between Creed and a struggling boxer, touting the fight as a chance for a “nobody” to become a “somebody” and now has the chance to prove he is not worthless. I think the re-release will do well with today’s generation than 40 years ago because of the technology available today as well as the social networking websites available. It is easier to promote the film more as a lot of the population goes on the Internet. Rocky” is such an immensely involving movie. Its story, about a punk club fighter from the back streets of Philly who gets a crack at the world championship, this will appeal to a lot of ages and gender in this generation because of the heart- warming storyline as well as the intense fighting/ boxing. Worldwide Rocky made $225,000,000, just in the USA it made $117,235,247. Although the figures are outstanding, even for 40 years ago when it was a lot harder to reach out to the public than it is in the present times with new technology, we believe that the re-release can reach out to more people than John G. Avildsen could 40 years ago with the emergence of social media, the ways advertising has grown and the expanding technology. We also believe that we can set higher box office figures because in this generation a lot has changed and we believe the genre of this film would appeal to all ages. Before adverts for the movie would have been done over the radio, on TV and public spaces, posters (buses and bus stops). Now around 2,405,518,376 people use the Internet in the world 70% of that using it every day. In conclusion I think that it is important that the film is re-released for the new and current generation that haven’t been exposed to John G. Avildsen’s excellence, a movie is a way that plenty of people can see his work as it is timeless and will always be a classicstory. 1 Name: John G. Avildsen Born: December 21, 1935 Education: New York University Spouse: Tracy Brooks Swope (m. 1987–2003) Children: Jonathan Avildsen, Bridget Avildsen, Ashley Avildsen, Anthony G. Avildsen Parents: Clarence John Avildsen, Ivy Avildsen The film was directed by John G. Avildsen. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Avildsen moved to New York with his family when he was ten. He studied at New York University at night, while working at an advertising agency. In 1961, Avildsen met up with his former advertising agency boss, who was starting production on a film, The Greenwich Village Story and hired Avildsen as his Assistant Director on various films while holding a day job as a director of television commercials for an advertising agency. He then moved on to the 1970 low-budget drama Joe. He then went onto directing the low-budget Cry Uncle! (1971) and The Stoolie (1972). Avildsen’s next project was the drama Save the Tiger (1973), sadly it failed to connect with moviegoers, but Jack Lemmon won an academy award for his performance. Avildsen also directed W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1975) which found Burt Reynolds playing a pleasant Southern con man. A year later Avildsen scored a major box-office hit with Rocky, the now-legendary Sylvester Stallone project about inarticulate but sensitive boxer Rocky Balboa, who dreams of becoming a champion. Avildsen had turned down Sylvester Stallone before for parts in previous films before. Then he read Sylvesters script Rocky and agreed to direct the picture. Avildsen won an Oscar for the best director, and the film was named best picture. However, the romantic drama Slow Dancing in the Big City (1978) and The Formula (1980), a conspiracy thriller, unfortunately for Avildsen their proclivity to follow victory ended with defeat. However, in 1984 Avildsen found box-office success again, with The Karate Kid. The massively popular ‘Rocky-ish tale ‘centres on a teenage ‘weakling’ who’s life turns around after some training in martial arts from a Japanese janitor. The Karate Kid, Part II (1986) fared even better at the box office. 2 Name: Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone (Rocky) Born: July 6 1946, New York City Height: 1.77 M Spouse: Jennifer Flavin (m. 1997), Brigitte Nielsen (m. 1985–1987), Sasha Czack (m. 1974–1985) Children: Sage Stallone, Sistine Rose Stallone, Seargeoh Stallone, Scarlet Rose Stallone, Sophia Rose Stallone. Parents: Frank Stallone Sr., Jackie Stallone Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946. His mother Jackie Stallone, an astrologer, and Frank Stallone, a beautician and hairdresser. His father was an Italian immigrant, and his mother’s heritage is half French and half Germany. Stallone attended the American College of Switzerland and the University of Miami; he eventually obtained a B.A. degree. He struggled in small parts in films such as The Party at Kitty and Stud’s, Klute, Bananas. He got a crucial career beak alongside Henry Winkler, sharing lead billing in the teen gang film The Lord’s of Flatbush (1975). Stallone was also very keen to be recognised as a screenwriter and not just an actor, and, inspired by the 1975 Muhammad Ali – Chuck Wepner fight in Cleveland, Stallone wrote a film script about a nobody fighter given the opportunity to challenge for the heavyweight title. Rocky (1976) became the stuff of cinematic legends, with ten Academy Award nominations, winning the Best Picture Award of 1976 and leading to one of the most financially successful movie franchises in history. After Rocky got his fame for Rocky he followed with the sequel, Rocky II (1979) The second film for the “Italian Stallion” wasn’t as powerful or successful as the first Rocky however, it still produced strong box office. Stallone then went on to the third installment of Rocky, Stallone once again return to familiar territory with Rocky III. Stallone has also starred in the box hits such as Rambo, The Expendables and of the rest of the Rocky’s. 3 Name: Gerald Tommaso DeLouise (Paulie) (better known by his stage name Burt Young) Born: April 30, 1940 New York City Height: 1.73 M Spouse: Gloria DeLouise Children: Anne Morea Parents: Michael DeLouise, Josephine DeLouise Name: Talia Shire (Adrian) Born: April 25 1946, New York City Spouse: Jack Schwartzman (m. 1980– 1994), David Shire (m. 1970–1980) Children: Francis Ford Coppola, August Coppola Name: Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed) Born: January 14 1948, New Orleans Height: 1.88 M Spouse: Jennifer Peterson (m. 2007– 2009), Rhona Unsell (m. 1984–2006), Mary Ann Castle (m. 1973–1983) Children: Jason Weathers, Matthew Weathers 4 DVD and Disk Designs 5 6 7 8 9 10 OFFICAL ROCKY SOUNDTRACK 1. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Rocky balboa) Robert "Rocky" Balboa, Sr. (b. July 6, 1945) is a fictional Rocky Balboa athlete, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone who has appeared in the Rocky series from 1976 to 2006. He is famous for being extremely tenacious and 'fighting with his heart', as his trainer Mickey Goldmill famously intones. His style, endurance, determination, and pleasant personality greatly resemble the real life heavyweight champion, Rocky Marciano, even though the creation of the character was directly inspired by Chuck Wepner. VIDEA - C.D.E. WARNER PICTURES ITALIA VOLTAGE PICTURES PRESENTANO IN ASSOCIAZIONE CON GROSVENOR PARK MEDIA, LP & F.C.E.F. S.A.

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION: IN PRAISE OF BABBITTRY. SORT OF. SPATIAL PRACTICES IN SUBURBIA Kenneth Jackson’s Crabgrass Frontiers, one of the key histories of American suburbia, marshals a fascinating array of evidence from sociology, geography, real estate literature, union membership profiles, the popular press and census information to represent the American suburbs in terms of population density, home-ownership, and residential status. But even as it notes that “nothing over the years has succeeded in gluing this automobile-oriented civilization into any kind of cohesion – save that of individual routine,” Jackson’s comprehensive history under-analyzes one of its four key suburban traits – the journey-to-work.1 It is difficult to account for the paucity of engagements with suburban transportation and everyday experiences like commuting, even in excellent histories like Jackson’s. In 2005, the average American spent slightly more than twenty-five minutes per day commuting, a time investment that, over the course of a year, translates to more time commuting than he or she will likely spend on vacation.2 Highway-dependent suburban sprawl perpetually moves farther across the map in search of cheap available land, often moving away from both traditional central 1 In the introduction, Jackson describes journey-to-work’s place in suburbia with average travel time and distance in opposition to South America (home of siestas) and Europe, asserting that “an easier connection between work and residence is more valued and achieved in other cultures” (10). 2 One 2003 news report calculates the commuting-to-vacation ratio at 5-to-4: “Americans spend more than 100 hours commuting to work each year, according to American Community Survey (ACS) data released today by the U.S.

Los Angeles Times: New UC chief is ready for action Page 1 of 3 http://www.latimes.com/news/education/la-me-yudof15-2008jun15,0,6883627.story From the Los Angeles Times New UC chief is ready for action Mark Yudof faces a budget crisis and tough legislators, but he's done that before and knows the ropes. By Larry Gordon Los Angeles Times Staff Writer June 15, 2008 AUSTIN, TEXAS -- — Mark G. Yudof, the incoming president of the University of California, says he gets a kick out of his unlikely connection to "Predator," the 1987 movie pitting action heroes against an alien creature in the jungle. Two of the film's muscled stars, Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger, later became governors, of Minnesota and California, respectively. Yudof, a former president of the University of Minnesota, famously tussled with Ventura over education funding in that state. And on Monday, the distinctly nonathletic attorney who has led the University of Texas for six years heads to Arnold-land at a time when Schwarzenegger is advocating a state budget that would lead to big spending cuts for UC. "It could be part of my karma, my kismet," Yudof said of "Predator," commemorated by a comical photo in which a friend pasted Yudof's face onto a gun-toting body next to the buff actors. "If Carl Weathers" -- another "Predator" star -- "a few years from now is elected governor of California, then we are really on to something." Kismet or coincidence, Yudof becomes the 19th leader of the 10-campus UC system in the midst of much-protested student fee increases and anticipated belt-tightening.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Lion by D.S. Sage Sylvester Stallone's Tragic Real-Life Story. Much like Rocky Balboa came up from nothing to become one of the world's best boxers, Sylvester Stallone came from an underprivileged upbringing to become one of the planet's biggest blockbuster stars. It was a difficult and often traumatic road to fame and fortune for the New York City-born actor, director, screenwriter and producer, and even when Stallone was on top and no longer the underdog, he still suffered losses that few others can imagine. That's part of why Stallone feels so close to the Rocky Balboa character he created. He told Variety of Rocky (1976) in summer 2019, "It is really a metaphor for life. This was a love story. He happens to box for a living, but the story is about his love for [wife Adrian]. You root for the underdog, and he had something to fight for — her." Stallone has become beyond adept at rolling with the (metaphorical) punches, and he's gotten back up from blows that would knock even some of the strongest men out. Here's Sylvester Stallone's tragic real-life story. The tragic reason behind Sylvester Stallone's 'snarl' Sylvester Stallone's trademark "snarl" and sometimes marble-mouthed speech are occasionally the target of mockery. However, the star's curled lip and vocal delivery aren't a tough guy act — they're actually the result of a traumatic childbirth. According to the Chicago Tribune , an accident during Stallone's delivery resulted in a severed facial nerve, causing his lower lip to droop, and paralyzing part of his tongue and chin.
