Subject: Commemoration of World AIDS Day 2005

The following activities have been proposed for your consideration: te&i

1. Pre-recorded radio interview with ''

Carl Folta, Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations of Viacom has proposed your participation in a radio programme to commemorate World AIDS Day on 1 December 2005. You would be the featured guest in a one-on-one 30-minute, pre-recorded interview on the global impact of the epidemic.

While the proposed interviewer has not yet been selected, he/she could be from MTV or from another Viacom outlet. The interview would air across the US and would also be available free of charge to radio broadcasters around the world. The radio interview would also be disseminated worldwide by UN Radio and the UNICs.

The proposal is also supported by Mr. Dujarric.

If you agree, Viacom would like to tape the interview next week.

2. The United Nations AIDS Day Commemoration at St. John's Cathedral, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday 1 December.

UNAIDS, its co-sponsors and civil society partners have requested that you give a keynote address during the first half hour of the event. This would be similar to (J what you did last year.

The theme will be "Keep the Promise," which calls for the fulfillment of the UN Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS, whose review will take place in 2006 (possibly at the end of May or early June).

Currently available and willing to participate are: the jazz and pop ballads singer Roberta Flack, the British actress Julia Ormond (as MC), award winning dancer and poet (and living with HIV) Bill T. Jones and UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador and singer Salman Ahmad. The Mayor of New York has been invited, but his attendance has not been confirmed.

We understand from UNAIDS that Dr. Piot will be in Jakarta on that day.

If you agree, a detailed scenario will be provided as we get closer to the event.
