Media Value in Football Season 2014/15
MERIT report on Media Value in Football Season 2014/15 Summary - Main results Authors: Pedro García del Barrio Director Académico de MERIT social value Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) Bruno Montoro Ferreiro Analista de MERIT social value Asier López de Foronda López Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) With the collaboration of: Josep Maria Espina Serra (UIC Barcelona) Arnau Raventós Gascón (UIC Barcelona) Ignacio Fernández Ponsin (UIC Barcelona) www.meritsocialvalue.com 2 Presentation MERIT (Methodology for the Evaluation and Rating of Intangible Talent) is part of an academic project with vast applications in the field of business and company management. This methodology has proved to be useful in measuring the economic value of intangible talent in professional sport and in other entertainment industries. In our estimations – and in the elaboration of the rankings – two elements are taken into consideration: popularity (degree of interest aroused between the fans and the general public) and media value (the level of attention that the mass media pays). The calculations may be made at specific points in time during a season, or accumulating the news generated during a particular period: weeks, months, years, etc. Additionally, the homogeneity amongst the measurements allows for a comparison of the media value status of individuals, teams, institutions, etc. Together with the measurements and rankings, our database allows us to conduct analyses on a wide variety of economic and business problems: estimates of the market value (or “fair value”) of players’ transfer fees; calculation of the brand value of individuals, teams and leagues; valuation of the economic return from alliances between sponsors; image rights contracts of athletes and teams; and a great deal more. -

Journal of Applied Finance & Banking, vol. 3, no. 4, 2013, 1-12 ISSN: 1792-6580 (print version), 1792-6599 (online) Scienpress Ltd, 2013 Moneyball in the Turkish Football League: A Stock Behavior Analysis of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce Based on Information Salience Caner Özdurak1 and Veysel Ulusoy2 Abstract Football clubs listed on Istanbul Stock Exchange suggests an interesting way of testing stock price behaviors to different types of news about both sportive success related and non-sports related events. Strong football club stock price reactions to surprising game results and the lack of reaction to betting odds is related with the dominated structure of Turkish Football League by the big four; Galatasaray (GS), Fenerbahce (FB), Besiktas (BJK) and Trabzonspor (TS). Coherent with this idea we conclude that GS and FB stocks react strongly to unexpected game results and derby matches. Other local league match wins do not have such an impact on stock prices. Moreover especially for FB related news rather than game results such as match-fixing case explain most of the price volatilities of the sport stocks. There is also some limited support for the notion that GS and FB stock prices are more affected by the bad news compared to good news. Conference 2015 Special
R.A. BOARD VOICEOVER “Conference 2015 Special” Referees’ Association Announcement At meeting of the RA Board on Sunday 5th July 2015 the following were elected: Chairman: Paul Field Vice Chairman: Ian Campbell Treasurer: Eddie McGrath Further announcements will follow during the coming weeks as we continue to structure the RA Board. ************************************************************************************************************************************** THE THOUGHTS OF CHAIRMAN PAUL (Paul Field) I have been a member of the R.A. Board for 5 years during which time I have seen seven different Chairman, a Board of Inquiry regarding the general management of the RA, and we had an office facility which was not fit-for-purpose, The RA has now started to move forward and this is now history but let’s remember one quote which typifies the organisation: Henry Ford said – “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got”. In the case of The R.A., a poor product which is not relevant to majority of the Refereeing family, declining membership and often people being in office for far too long. In my view, The R.A. now has to move forward and there are sound building blocks for the future which are positive steps. We need to remember that our main reason for existence is to provide a platform for on-going training, development, mentoring and mutual support. The thriving LRAs are the ones that concentrate on this, have lively debates, a good social side and little business transacted at meetings. As a collective (individually and LRA’s) we are all responsible! There is an urgent need to change people’s perception of the RA and the quality of the membership experience. -

ÖBKT Deell .RAAD VAN BEHEER .RADIO .TELEVISE
ÖBKT JAAROVERZICHT 1987 DEELl .RAAD VAN BEHEER .RADIO .TELEVISE Jaaroverzicht 1987. -

Galatasaray SK V PSV Eindhoven MATCH PRESS KIT Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium, Istanbul Wednesday, 18 October 2006 - 20:45CET Group C - Matchday 3
Galatasaray SK v PSV Eindhoven MATCH PRESS KIT Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium, Istanbul Wednesday, 18 October 2006 - 20:45CET Group C - Matchday 3 Galatasaray SK are aiming to revive their prospects in UEFA Champions League Group C against a PSV Eindhoven side with a history of disappointments on Turkish soil. • Although they sit three points behind both Liverpool FC and PSV going into Matchday 3, the manner of the Turkish champions' defeat at Liverpool on 27 September hinted at better things to come. Trailing 3-0 to goals from Peter Crouch (2) and Luis García, Erik Gerets' men fought their way back to 3-2 as Ümit Karan struck twice in quick succession in the 59th and 65th minutes. • That fightback may have ultimately proved futile but it should ensure some optimism that they can add to the one point collected at home to FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Matchday 1 – as should PSV's record of four defeats and a draw (and only two goals scored) from five previous visits to Turkey. • PSV also have cause for confidence as Ronald Koeman's team already have one away win to their name in Group C and have yet to concede a goal. Mika Väyrynen's 65th-minute effort earned the Dutch champions a 1-0 win at Bordeaux on Matchday 2 as they moved on to four points, level with early leaders Liverpool FC who visit Bordeaux in the section's other game. Emotional encounter • Whatever the outcome, it promises to be an emotional encounter for Galatasaray coach Gerets who served PSV with distinction as both a player (1985-92) and coach (1999-2002).
