Fourth Annual Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit to Be Held Virtually on Monday, July 13 For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Thursday, May 28, 2020 Megan Kogut (651) 312-3439 Emily Yang (651) 602-6034 FOURTH ANNUAL MINNESOTA WILD LEADERSHIP SUMMIT TO BE HELD VIRTUALLY ON MONDAY, JULY 13 SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild today announced the Fourth Annual Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit, presented by West Bend Mutual Insurance, will be held virtually on Monday, July 13 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. High school hockey captains and their coaches From Minnesota and around the country are invited to participate in the Leadership Summit. This event is a great opportunity For hockey captains and coaches to learn From a wide-ranging, inspiring and influential group of leaders. The Leadership Summit is Free oF charge and is open to the First 500 boys and girls high school hockey captains and coaches. Teams will be accepted on a First-come, First-served basis. Coaches can register their teams at wild.com/leadership. “We are thrilled to be able to host the Fourth annual Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit virtually in July,” said Wayne Petersen, Director of Community Relations and Hockey Partnerships. “Even in these unprecedented times, the virtual Summit allows us to bring industry leaders, not just From the State of Hockey, but across the country to the homes of our high school hockey players and coaches For a great learning experience.” The Minnesota Wild Leadership Summit will be hosted on Zoom. Registrants will receive the Zoom meeting link after they register. Coaches and captains from the same team are encouraged (not required) to join the Zoom webinar together from the same location while practicing safe social distancing procedures. On putting Backes with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand late in the game… They have played together before – a little heavier flavor with the goalie out – second center man for draws. That is nothing on Pasta. We just moved him to more of the offensive role with three minutes to go, and if we can extend the lead with him, great. It’s just Backs has a lot of experience doing that. I think he is a valuable guy in those situations, so we want to make sure we use it as much as possible, whether it is with that group or the other night, we had him with Nash and Heinen. They were really going well, but we want to use him in those situations. On taking Zdeno Chara for granted… I think a lot of people do. I don’t – the little things that happen in the room every day, his willingness to mentor younger players and work with the staff in that area. You can’t say enough about his ability to defend.

I’m not sure the shot clock accurately portrayed kind of the pace of the game and how it was playing out. I thought we were pretty good – a couple of turnovers that kind of came back at us, but other than that, I thought we managed the puck well, we were on our toes, trying to close off space and forecheck hard and get pucks to the net. I thought we saw a lot of that in the second period where we took over. A lot of positives, and I think at the end of the day, we were the better team for the 60 minutes. On David Krejci’s goal… You never know on those. I think the directive came out on those that they wanted to speed them up. Unless there is something obvious, don’t go looking for things. So, that’s the way it looked; they took less time than they have in the past. Glad it went our way, I guess that’s all I’ll say. You never know on those. Sometimes they work for you, sometimes against. It was nice to get rewarded because we had a lot of action around their net, and especially that line. It’s a skill line, real effective off the rush, so good to see them get their nose dirty, score goals at the top of the crease.
