September 2005

Dear Friend of Trinity,

I can’t imagine life without Trinity High School.

For some, attending Trinity and receiving all her advantages is impossible. We received a record number of tuition aid requests this past spring. Every dollar you contribute to the annual appeal goes to tuition assistance for needy students who meet stringent aid guidelines.

Your annual gift does not build our buildings, pay teacher salaries or buy equipment. It is used solely for tuition assistance.

With your gift to Trinity, we are able to charge a tuition that is nearly $2,000 less than the actual per-student cost.

With this fall issue of the Trinity Leader, we are continuing the practice of presenting our Annual Report. We hope this is an effective way of keeping you apprised of our stewardship of your gifts.

Please make a gift to our annual appeal. The Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal is crucial to our financial stability. We have included a self-addressed and postage-paid envelope for your convenience.

Gifts to the school are made to the Trinity High School Foundation, Inc. Supported by a board of directors numbering more than 100 persons, the Foundation is a fully insured, 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible. Its records are audited annually. Gifts made to Trinity stay with Trinity.

Please make a gift to the 2006 Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal.

By contributing financially to our work, you are making a difference in the life of a young person.

All my best,

Robert J. Mullen ’77, Ed.D. President FALL05Leader_v2 9/1/05 9:06 PM Page 3

Trinity High School 2004- 05 Annual Report — Dedication

This Annual Report is dedicated in memory of Sgt. David Neil Wimberg and all those brave men and women serving in our armed forces and police, fire and emergency medical services.

David Wimberg graduated from Trinity in 1999. He was killed in May 2005 while serving as a United States Marine stationed in Iraq. May his sacrifice and the commitment of all those dedicated to serving others be an example for all.

On the Cover: Artists at Work Trinity has a well-earned reputation as a leader in Louisville. Superior academics, professional-quality stage productions, championship athletics, diverse and inclusive student activities, service initiatives and a Christ-centered focus underline our mission. A walk around our growing campus also reveals another aspect of the school’s student- centered mission: artistic expression. Mr. Bob Lockhart — 2001 Trinity Peace Medal recipient, current Bellarmine University professor of art and nationally renowned artist — has been creating a three-dimensional expression of the Holy Trinity. The bronze sculpture, commissioned by loyal Trinity supporter Mr. Walt Collins and the Trinity High School Foundation, Inc., will be placed on the school’s rotunda plaza. The figure of Christ, whose outstretched hand will hold a dove, is surrounded by 10 student figures. The sculpture has an amazing amount of detail and provides an almost limitless number of views and interpretations for those who gather around it. Pictured with Lockhart are Trinity Art Department Chair Jim Connell ’63 and several current Trinity art students. Students have visited Lockhart’s studio during the course of the summer to offer their own input into its creation. “The visits have been an integral part of the ongoing development of the piece,” Bob said.
