Monday, 23

Good morning,

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and relaxing weekend. Happy Thanksgiving week!

There is a lot of updated and repeat information in this week’s newsletter. I did not post a Monday Message video for this week since the week is so short.

Thanksgiving week schedule

• Monday - No school for Parent-Teacher Conferences (11:30-7:30) • Tuesday - No school for Parent-Teacher Conferences (8:00-4:00) • Wednesday - No school for Thanksgiving holiday • Thursday - No school for Thanksgiving holiday • Friday - No school for Thanksgiving holiday

(UPDATED) Parent-Teacher Conferences - There is still time to sign up. We want this to be a time for you and teachers to share how your student is doing in the online program. Conferences are today (November 23) and tomorrow (). The schedule is below.

• Monday, November 23 - 11:30-7:30 • Tuesday, November 24 - 8:00-4:00

We are using PTCFast.com to have families choose a time for conferences:

• If your student is in elementary, then please sign up the classroom teacher • If your student is in middle or high school, then please sign up with their Advisor

Please click on the link below to access the sign-up schedule for your student.

(UPDATED) Report Cards - Report cards are available through Synergy ParentVue.

(REPEAT) To access Synergy ParentVue - If you have not accessed Synergy ParentVue before, you can follow this link for detailed instructions.

(REPEAT) K-5 report card details - K-5 report cards now have four grading periods/quarters. I’ve included some highlights below.

• The entire district is using these three grades: o P - Progressing towards grade level standards. The student is making expected progress toward end of year grade level expectations or demonstrates basic but inconsistent application of essential concepts and skills. o N/E - No Evidence. Indicates no evidence of learning due to limited participation with the standards. o N/A - Not Assessed. Indicates that standards were not assessed this grading period. • Health, PE, and Music will all receive an N/A. • The evaluation system for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) will remain the same: 1-4, N/E, and N/A.

(REPEAT) Middle and high school report card details - 6-12 report cards now have four grading periods/quarters. I’ve included some highlights below.

• The Virtual Online Program is using these grades: o A-F - Standard grading scale. o I - Incomplete. Less than 60% of the course was completed. o P/NP - Pass/No Pass. o N/G - No Grade. Less than 10% of the course was completed and the student has completed any work since 15. • All middle school electives are graded as Pass/No Pass • If a student receives an Incomplete: o We will encourage that all work should be completed by the student within 2 weeks (10 days) from the end of the final grading period. o A final grade will be added when work is completed or, if not completed, an F will be added at the end of the quarter. • We will be using the Actual Grade in Edgenuity when assigning students quarter grades. When looking at Edgenuity, you see these three grades: o Overall Grade - This is the weighted average grade for only the completed activities. o Actual Grade - This is the overall grade adjusted for progress if a student is behind. This score doesn't assume zeros for uncompleted work; simply penalizes for falling behind. o Relative Grade - This is the grade that a student would receive if they stopped working and received 0% for all unscored, counted activities.

(UPDATED) Middle school electives - If your middle school student has not yet signed up for an elective, please ask them to complete the form as quickly as possible (even if they are not going to take an elective). Electives through Edgenuity began last week. Electives that are hosted by our Virtual Online Program staff will begin on Wednesday, 2 (the first Wednesday we see students in Quarter 2)

(REPEAT) From Ms. Wojtak, our School Counselor - Ms. Wojtak is working on electives and students schedules. In addition, she is running friendship groups and began office hours for each grade level. As always, she continues to work with students and families.

• Link to her K-5 virtual office • Link to her 6-12 virtual office • To schedule an appointment with Ms. Wojtak, please use this link: https://calendly.com/wojtakt

(REPEAT) From Ms. Barton, our College & Career Advisor - Follow this link to Ms. Barton’s newsletter for this week. She has been meeting with many students and families recently. Her plan is to meet with every senior to answer that question, "what are you going to do after you graduate?" Please take a few minutes to schedule a time to meet with her for your individual virtual one on one planning session. Parents are welcome to join if they choose to do so.

(REPEAT) Winter Blitz - In 1997 two staff members at Clackamas High School created a community service project to support one family during the holidays. The idea was to do a one day scavenger hunt for a tree, food, gifts, clothes and household items. The Winter Rage Event became a community services project that the entire student body participated in. It has grown to adopting over 200 families and helping over 500 students in the North Clackamas School District. If you would like to be involved or know a family that would benefit from this event, please follow the link: https://tinyurl.com/y4lbz9qf

I hope you enjoy a wonderful week. Thank you!
