ABSTRACT In this paper we shed light on the advancement in Virtual Reality devices and talk about six latest developments. Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that allows a user to interact with a simulated computer environment, whether that environment is a simulation of the real world or an imaginary world. It is the key to experiencing, feeling and touching the past, the present and the future. It is the means of creating our own world, our own personalized reality. It could range from creating a videogame to taking a virtual tour of the universe, from walking through our own dream house to experiencing a walk through a strange planet. With virtual reality, we can experience the most intimidating and exhausting situations by playing safely and with a learning perspective. However, very few people really know what virtual reality is, what are its basic principles and its open problems. -

To enable users to better engage with this technology, a tool was developed to record and replay captured user motion to reduce the strain of complicated gross motor motions to a simple button press. This tool allows VR users with any level of motor impairment to create custom recordings of the motions they need to play VR games that have not designed for such accessibility. Examples of similar projects as well as recommendations for improvements are given to help round out the design space of accessible VR design. Introduction In many instances, high-end in-home virtual reality is synonymous with a head-mounted display (HMD) on the user’s face and motion-tracked controllers, simulating the hand’s ability to grip and hold objects, in a user’s hands. This is the case with all forms of consumer available HMD that is driven by a traditional computer rather than an integrated computer, including the Oculus Rift, Valve Index, HTC Vive, the variously produced Windows Mixed Reality HMDs, and Playstation VR with the Move Controllers. -

The study also analyzes the components of added value that virtual reality gaming brings on top of a more traditional gaming experience Summary An extensive examination of already published academic research regarding product adoption and value concept was conducted to realize the key notions that would act as the cornerstones of the primary research. A quantitative survey was designed for the relevant sample to see whether the earlier findings on the topics of product adoption and value concept resonated with the results gathered from the survey focusing on virtual reality gaming and the products surrounding it. Conclusions The research shows that the product adoption in the virtual reality gaming market essentially operates under the already established concepts of product adoption. -

PC-Based Aviation Training Devices for Pilot Training in Visual Flight Rules Procedures; Development, Validation and Effectiveness A thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Aviation at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand Savern Reweti 2014 Abstract Flying is a difficult and complex activity that requires a significant level of attention from the pilot as well as a lengthy training period to gain sufficient competency. For issues of both cost and safety, flight simulation has been an integral part of flight training from its earliest beginnings. There have been a number of technological developments and improvements in both the level of fidelity and the training effectiveness of flight simulators. As a result, flight simulators in use today are the result of this technological, psychological, and engineering evolution. Indeed, simulator cockpits can now accurately replicate all of the functions of flight controls and instrumentation found in real aircraft. Furthermore, the development of high- resolution display systems utilising computer-generated imagery (CGI), means that flight simulators can now display very realistic terrain and environmental effects. The high cost of modern full motion flight simulators (FFSs) has meant that their use has generally been restricted to commercial airlines, military forces, and government agencies. More recently, rapid advances and decreasing costs in PC-based computer technology has enabled flight-training organisations to conduct more training with less expensive fixed-base flight training devices (FTDs). -

This isn't something familiar given a facelift-- this is a totally new project, one whose core ideas and gameplay were born on next-generation hardware. It's interesting, then, that this also serves as the first original game for developer Ready at Dawn. Ideas for The Order originally began forming in 2006 as a project that crafted fiction from real-life history and legends. Indeed, one of the game's more intriguing elements is that mix of fantasy and reality. This alternate-timeline Victorian London is covered in a layer of grit and grime true to that era, contrasted by dirigibles flying through the sky and fantastical weapons used by the game's protagonists, four members of a high-tech (for the times) incarnation of the Knights of the Round Table. That idea of blending different aspects together may be what's most compelling about The Order: 1886 beyond just its premise. The first thing you notice is the game's visual style. There's a cinematic, film-like look to everything, and not only are the overall graphical qualities and camera angles tweaked to reflect that, but The Order also runs in widescreen the entire time--not just during cutscenes like in other games. It's a decision that some have bemoaned, since those top and bottom areas of the screen are now "missing" during game-play. -

Financial Results Briefing for Fiscal Year Ended March 2018 Thank you for making time to attend Nintendo’s financial briefing. I am Tatsumi Kimishima, President of Nintendo. Nintendo Co., Ltd. Mr. Furukawa, General Manager of the Corporate Financial Results Briefing Planning Department, has just presented our financial President and Representative Director results for this period. Tatsumi Kimishima I will now discuss our planned initiatives for the fiscal year ending March 2019. Firstly, Nintendo Labo has had the high expectation as a “very Nintendo” product since the original announcement in January this year, and as soon as it was launched, consumers have been posting photos and video of parents and children as they work together to assemble Global Release, April 2018 the cardboard pieces and then play with their completed Toy-Con, which were unimaginable in video games before. It has been on sale for only a week in Japan and the US, while sales in Europe will begin today, but the main purchasers of Nintendo Labo at launch are not the same as with typical video games, and they are mainly elementary school children and their fathers, as well as game players who like creative activities. We developed and will nurture Nintendo Labo as a product that is not constrained by the boundaries of conventional video games and can endear itself to a broader range of consumers. From the initial response, we have this solid feeling that we are off to a great start in that regard. Some Nintendo Titles Released Since the Start of the Year We began releasing Nintendo titles non-stop with the launch of Nintendo Switch, and kept the new-release buzz alive through the end of the year. -

Thus, it has a significant place in the entertainment and the game industry. However, creating a well-designed immersive experience can be extremely complicated due to the replacement of human perception from the real-world to an isolated virtual world. Understanding the essentials of virtual reality (VR) experiences and game design principles is necessary for designing an immersive VR game. Although there are many differences in design elements of VR games according to the experience that is wanted to be given to the player, many games also have common elements. In the line of this view, a guideline is aimed to be framed for VR game designers in the current study. For this purpose, design pillars of VR experiences and game design principles were reviewed, and five VR games were analyzed. Games are highly plastic mediums that can be adapted to any environment and technology. Many game types have a close relationship in terms of game elements and design. -
