Magazine July 2013 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine July 2013 5 On Sunday 2nd June, our Club supported Tekno Autosports and Tekno Performance by attending their Open Day. What a sensational day! Our Club displayed 60+ cars and approximately FROM THE 130 Club members and their family attended. Our Club again won the trophy for ‘Best Club Display’ and a number of our Club members also won various trophies in the Show n Shine PRESIDENT’S DESK competition. How good were those Darrell Lea chocolates that were floating around during the day? I did have a bit of trouble biting into the VIP Petfoods dog biscuits though, just kidding! I would like to thank Jonathon, Kobe, Shane, Greg and the entire Tekno team for providing the HSV Owners of Club Qld the opportunity to be part of a sensational day. In doing so, we helped to raise funds for Cure for Cancer, a great charity and one that I know is close to the hearts of many of our Club members. With many of us knowing a person or a family member who has been affected by cancer, this is certainly a disease for which we need to find a cure and as soon as possible. To all our Club members, we thank you for the support you showed this event. Tekno is certainly one of our favourite local teams and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship. Tekno have certainly made their mark on the series this year and we are looking forward to the Ipswich 360 in July. We will support this event in force! Upcoming Events Sunday 7th July - Muscle on the Mountain Show and Shine, Maleny. Don’t miss this one! Phone Andrew Roberts on 0400 556 662 to book your place. Friday 12th to Sunday 14th July 2013 - Weekend Away at Happy Valley Resort, Stanthorpe. Contact Richard Winters on 0418 746 215 for more information. Saturday 20th July 2013 - Go-Kart Championship at Kingston Park Raceway. Phone Colin Humphreys on 0411 594 048 to reserve your place. Sunday 28th July 2013 - V8 Supercars Ipswich 360. Our Club will have use of the marquee on the back straight between the 100 and 200 metre breaking area all weekend, however Sunday is the day of our official Club event. Don’t forget those members wishing to attend will need to pre-purchase a paddock and pit pass. Should be an exciting year at QR. Friday Night 2nd August 2013 - General Meeting at Eagers HSV Windsor. PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE due to the V8 Supercar Ipswich 360. Saturday 17th August 2013 - Sprints at Lakeside Raceway. Contact Peter Woods to reserve your place. Sunday 15th September 2013 - GM Mania Show and Shine at Willowbank Raceway. Even if you think your car is not good enough to display, give it a wash, some tyre shine and bring it out to add to our display. This is the first time our Club has attended this event and we would like as many cars as possible to attend. This day will be similar to the Shannons AutoSpectacular with the exception that this Show and Shine is dedicated to GM products. 6 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine July 2013 HSV Owners Club of Qld. Inc. Magazine July 2013 11 HSV Owners Club Dyno Day Saturday 1st June 2013 This year’s Dyno Day was another great success. We had a cold start to the day, with overcast skies and drizzling rain. It was shaping up to be a very unpredictable day and that it was, in more ways than one! To help us warm up, Nathan arrived with his mobile coffee van! After speaking with Nathan, it was easy to see bringing along the coffee van is just an excuse to see our cars. He loves the way they sound on the dyno. It was great to see so many spectators this year. The results on the dyno kept everyone guessing and sometimes had us all in disbelief. The guys from Walkinshaw did a great job. They set up a big screen TV to broadcast the dyno runs and had everything set up in such a way that we could just keep the dyno runs coming. They topped this off by putting on a sausage sizzle for lunch. A big thank you must go to Andrew and Tod for cooking our barbecue lunch, all under the supervision of my son Lachlan (I’m sure he kept them all in line!). After lunch, we had our trophy presentation for the highest kw’s in each class and the prize for guessing your own kw’s. The winners were as follows: Class 1 Super Class Colin Nagel VE Clubsport 467 Kw Class 2 Open Class Craig Barrass VY GTS Coupe 326.9kw Class 3 Modified Class Bob Matsen VE Clubsport 324.5kw Class 4 Un-opened Class Darren Swords VY GTS Coupe 304.8kw Class 4a Un-Opened Class Wayne Herberg VE2 GXP 353.3kw Crazy number! Class 5 Tuned Stock Class Rod Hawes VE3 Senator 293.8kw Class 6 Stock Class Peter Martin VT Clubsport 179.5kw Class 6a Stock Class Matt McHoull VE2 GXP Ute 301.1kw Another crazy number! The guess your own kw prize went to Geoff Lentell who guessed 241 his car ran 241.1 Not too bad at all!! Thanks again to all those who supported the day, it’s great to see so many Club members and new Club Members attending events.

  • Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine October 2020
B Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine October 2020 Page 1 of 54 EDITORSPEAK… email: [email protected] After bashing my head against a brick wall with Auckland Transports “sledgehammer to crack a nut” approach to road safety, I’m heartened to see that the proposed speed limit changes in the local Manawatu area (submissions closed early last month) seem to have been proposed in a considered and commonsense manner and in some cases go contrary to current NZTA recommendations. Obviously lowering speed limits or having a flexible limit around schools is a no brainer, but, for example, not lowering the limit on the Pahiatua Track to below 80kph seems to indicate that whoever was responsible has a pretty good handle on the realities of travelling on rural and semi-rural Manawatu roads. Well done that bloke/blokess, let’s hope the submission process doesn’t overturn these totally sensible options. The final round of the FAE Winter series proved to be a game of two halves. Run under Covid restrictions it became a 2-day affair like the first round, and the weather went from a beautiful sunny Saturday to a wet and average Sunday. Of course the MX5’s got to run on Sunday!! Waking up to the sound of rain wasn’t promising, though a quick look at the forecast on my phone revealed it clearing from 9.00am. Quite simply, they lied. A massive contrast to my trip down from Auckland the previous day, Tee shirt, sun streaming down from a clear blue sky, the mountains looking magnificent cloaked in white….

STEWARDS SUMMARY OF JUDICIAL OUTCOMES Event Document No. 42 2020 INTERNATIONAL VIRGIN AUSTRALIA SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 31 “SUPERCHEAP AUTO BATHURST 1000” Mount Panorama Circuit, Bathurst, New South Wales 13th to 18th October 2020 STEWARDS SUMMARY OF JUDICIAL OUTCOMES, Update #3: issued Sunday 18 October 2020 at 1940hrs. Matters from Race 31: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations At the request of Kelly Racing, the DRD conducted an investigation into an allegation that Car #44 was driving excessively slowly under Safety Car. No breach was established by a review of Broadcast and Gearhouse footage, nor by Supercars telemetry, and the DRD therefore determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards. At the request of Brad Jones Racing, the DRD conducted an investigation into an allegation that Car #34 slowed excessively in the Pit Entry lane. A review of Broadcast and Gearhouse footage did not reveal slowing beyond what might be anticipated in damp conditions of a Car slowing to ensure it did not exceed the Pit Lane speed limit in Pit Lane. Therefore no breach of the Rules was established. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed On Lap 3 the Stewards imposed a 15 Second Time Penalty on Car #3, Jones/Blanchard, for a breach of Article 3.5.1 of Schedule B3 – failure to immediately comply with Mechanical Flag. On Lap 57 the Stewards received telemetry data from the HoM which recorded Car #19’s rear wheels rotating at 23kph for 13 seconds during its Pit Stop before it was returned to the ground. The rotation of the wheels was also observed by the HoM.

  • The Australasian Society for Motorsports Medicine and Rescue
Volume 2, Issue 7 December 2010 The Australasian Society for Motorsports Medicine and Rescue Contents Race control Motorsport review Recent race results Caught by the cameras Race control So another year of motor sporting draws to a close. The major categories have completed their seasons with some of the closest racing seen in the final events. Perhaps the persistent fiddling with the rules and rewards systems is paying off. The F1 had everyone madly working out the various permutations by which their favoured driver could finish on the top step, right up until the last lap in Bahrain. Loeb took his seventh World Rally championship title in his home town of Hagenot, in France, with two events left on the calendar. However, the WRC still ended on a nail-biter with the rising Sebastian Ogier challenging a much more consistent Jari-Matti Latvalla and an impressively resurgent Petter Solberg for second place. With a very satisfying end to the season, we also bid farewell to the current class of WRC cars, which will be replaced with shorter wheel base, 1600cc turbo engined car in 2011. Citroen will run a DS3, BP Ford a Fiesta RS and Mini will provide a third manufacturer in selected events with its Countryman model. The V8s finished their season in Sydney at the Homebush Bay circuit and was again replete with carnage and position changes, right up until the final lap, where Shane Van Gisbergen ran out of fuel while running in first place, yet managed to coast across the finish line in in third.
