ElNawawi also announced that Mostafa Ashour is to take on the responsibility of head of this new LoB. He stated, "We have every confidence in Mostafa’s ability and commitment, and we look forward to building a strong and formidable team under his leadership."

Ashour joined Giza Systems in 2011 with the position of Security Solutions Team Leader. He has 16 years of solid experience in the design, implementation, commissioning, and engineering of integrated building management systems, including BMS, fire and security, and the other smart buildings solutions. His efforts played an integral part in the creation of the Smart Buildings Line of Business at Giza Systems.

The addition of HF Giza Systems’ broad-based family of products and already established operations in the different geographies enhances Giza Systems’ strong position in the smart solutions integration market. Nozzom Issue # 26 6 IoT Launch at GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

Egypt participated for the fifth time at MWC, the world’s prime exhibition and conference for the mobile industry held at "Fira Gran Via" in Barcelona, Spain, on 22-25 February 2016. At the Egyptian pavilion, EgyptOn, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) selected a delegation of eleven local ICT companies to represent the national ICT sector. Giza Systems, a strategic partner at the Egyptian pavilion, was amongst the selected delegation.

This year, the Mobile World Congress witnessed record attendance with over 100,000 visitors for the first time since the event’s inception. Featuring cutting-edge products and solutions, the main buzz centered on Virtual Reality and the Internet of Things (IoT). The Innovation City combined both these themes in its interactive demonstrations touching upon various industries and sectors. It brought to life the impact of mobile- connected products and services, and showcased its effects and real life applications for consumers and businesses.

At MWC, the Internet of Things (IoT) Pavilion was dedicated to showcasing how millions of "things" are becoming smart with embedded sensors, data transmitters, and the ability to communicate. The organizing party of the event, GSMA, introduced the Mobile IoT Initiative, which was supported by 30 of the world’s leading mobile operators, OEMs, chipset, module and infrastructure companies.

In line with the major trend featured at the MWC, and building on its extensive know-how and track record in automation systems, communication solutions and application development, Giza Systems launched its very own end-to- end IoT applications. Its IoT applications cater to various industries including telecom, utilities, smart cities, hospitality, and transportation.

The Mobile World Congress provided the perfect platform for Giza Systems’ team to showcase the recently developed IoT pilot projects serving home automation, environmental monitoring, smart metering, street light management, and emergency center management.

Home Automation

This is an application that enables users to control home lighting, climate, appliances, privacy and security. In addition, the application notifies users in the case of fire or gas leakage. Users have the ability to monitor the current status, usage, and preferences through a graphical interface, as well as receive email and mobile notifications alerting users of an identified risk. This application caters to the residential sector providing it with various benefits including enhancing safety and security, as well as saving time and money, in addition to convenience.

Environmental Monitoring

Generally used to monitor pollutants, this application measures the emission of gases such as carbon monoxide and ozone. It also monitors water pollution by measuring parameters like pH and conductivity. Through the use of this application, users – both from the governmental and non-governmental sectors – can ensure that best practices are in place to monitor, track, and enable environmental surveying, pollution management, as well as environmental management programs, compliance, and regulations.

Smart Metering

This application enables the creation of various commands and events to track the status of smart meters, such as connect/disconnect loads, shading, remote control of meters, and alert in the case of illegal tampering. It enables utilities to reduce expenses; have measures in place for detecting leakage and energy theft; improve forecasting and customer service; and simplify micro- generation monitoring; and track generation and consumption of power. It also enables customers to directly manage their energy consumption and benefit from pricing models.

Street Light Management

This interface enables users to select specific street lights and have them pinpointed on the map to show their location and status. A user can control street lights and obtain data parameters such as the supply voltage power, supply current, run time, cycle count, temperature, energy power, level, etc.

Governmental entities can leverage this application to achieve energy savings; operational reduction of costs; efficient and predictive maintenance; and the utilization of new smart city applications.

Emergency Centers

This application enables the tracking and monitoring of events that are sent to emergency centers to alert police stations and fire stations, as well as deploy ambulances in case of emergencies.

The various applications for smart cities are integrated to help authorities and citizens optimize management of resources; improve workforce management and mobilization; provide accurate reporting and analytics; and save time, money, and energy.

Suez Canal Authority Awards Giza Systems Vessel Traffic Management System Project

With the massive national infrastructure projects that took place in Egypt during 2015, Giza Systems was awarded a project to implement a complex meteorological system that integrates with the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) in the Suez Canal.

"We are very happy with the award, and honored by the recognition of our deep- rooted professionalism and commitment to high quality delivery spanning over 40 years of operation in Egypt and the region," stated Ashraf Hosni, Sales Manager for Transportation and General Business Sector at Giza Systems.

The project consists of sensors that measure and detect meteorological and hydrological changes in the Suez Canal. The coverage extends to around 190 km along the canal, with sensors installed every 10km. The meteorological sensors installed detect the variations in pressure, humidity, visibility levels, temperature, and wind speed; while the hydrological sensors work on collecting data related to tides, water direction, and current strength.

Each sensor will then transfer the data to the nearest of the 18 geographically located operation rooms. The data is then gathered and analyzed by the Vessel Traffic Management System installed in the central control room. The meteorological information, as well as the direction and position of the vessels convoy, are then displayed on monitors for navigating vessels alongside the shores of the canal.

All rooms and display monitors are connected by a state-of-the-art network integrating the most sophisticated routers, switches, servers, storage, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, fiber cables, workstations, UPS, cabinets and racks.

"The magnitude, sophistication and national significance entailed in this project make it one of the biggest and most prominent projects implemented by the Transportation and Technology Infrastructure Line of Business at Giza Systems during 2015. We are confident in the capabilities of our team to implement this project with remarkable outcomes in the designated timeframe," stated Marwan Salem, General Manager of Transportation and Technology Infrastructure Line of Business at Giza Systems.

هيئة قناة السويس تمنح جيزة سيستمز مشروع نظام إدارة مرور السفن

بالتزامن مع مشاريع تحديث البنية التحتية الوطنية الضخمة التي أقيمت يف مرص خالل عام ٢٠١٥، فازت جيزة سيستمز بعقد تنفيذ مرشوع نظام إدارة مرور السفن بقناة السويس.

"نحن سعداء مبنحنا هذا املرشوع، ويرشفنا ملا ميثله من تأكيد عىل تواجد الرشكة القوي والنابع من مهنية عميقة الجذور، وإلتزام بأعىل درجات الجودة التي يتوجها أكرث من أربعون عاماً من اإلنجازات يف مرص واملنطقة." رصح بذلك أرشف حسني، مدير املبيعات يف إدارة حلول خدمات النقل مبجموعة رشكات جيزة سيستمز.

يعتمد النظام الجديد عىل أجهزة إستشعار لقياس والكشف عن تغريات األرصاد الجوية والهيدرولوجية يف قناة السويس. ومتتد التغطية لحوايل ١٩٠ كيلومرت عىل طول القناة، وأجهزة إستشعار مثبتة كل عرشة كيلومرتات، وتركز أجهزة إستشعار األرصاد الجوية عىل الكشف عن التغريات يف الضغط والرطوبة ومستويات الرؤية ودرجة الحرارة ورسعة الرياح، بينام تعمل أجهزة اإلستشعار الهيدرولوجية عىل جمع البيانات من املد والجزر وإتجاه املياه وقوة التيار.

وسينقل كل جهاز إستشعار البيانات إىل أقرب غرفة من مجموع ١٨ غرفة عمليات منترشة جغرافيا، ًحيث يتم جمع البيانات وتحليلها من قبل نظام إدارة مرور السفن املفعل يف غرفة التحكم املركزية، ومن ثم يتم عرض معلومات األرصاد الجوية وتحليلها عند تحديد إتجاهات قوافل السفن وأماكنها عىل الشاشات املعنية لتنظيم إبحار السفن يف القناة.

وجميع الغرف مجهزة ومتصلة بشبكة إتصال من أحدث طراز، مع دمج املوجهات واملحوالت والخوادم ونظم التخزين، وشبكة السلكية )Wi-Fi(، و WiMAX، وكابالت األلياف، ومحطات العمل، ونظم إمدادات الطاقة غري املنقطعة، والخزائن، وأرفف التخزين.

Nozzom Issue # 26 20 Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company Awards Giza Systems Project for Suez Gulf Telecommunication Systems

Giza Systems was awarded the project for supply and installation of telecommunication systems, consisting of the active component of Power Line Carrier systems (PLCs), to serve the Suez Gulf 500 kV GIS substation.

Building on its longstanding working relationship with Giza Systems and the various projects delivered, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), awarded the project to Giza Systems for its commitment and know-how.

Giza Systems’ deployment includes the complete implementation of Digital Power-Line Carrier (DPLC) system on turnkey basis. The project is currently underway, scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The scope of work includes engineering, design, procurement, factory testing, site delivery, loading, unloading, training, installation, testing and commissioning.

Baheya Hospital Holds Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign at Giza Systems

As part of Giza Systems’ continuous efforts of spreading awareness ways; through text messages by sending the word "Baheya" to 9797, and promoting knowledge sharing among employees, and coinciding monetary donation in all banks to account number 66 66 66 66, or with Mother’s Day celebrations in Egypt, the company hosted a breast by simply calling 16602 to have a Baheya representative collect cancer awareness campaign in cooperation with Baheya Women’s donations anywhere. Baheya is also committed to raising awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

Audience engaged in discussions Baheya was named after an Egyptian woman, Baheya Wehbe, who suffered from the disease. Upon her death, her family decided to build a hospital that specializes in providing free cancer treatment for women. The hospital is established over an area of 1,000 square meters, covering six floors. It is considered to be the first hospital that provides social and psychological support to all patients, by offering home health assistance and supporting patients’ families through Social Assistance programs. The hospital also hopes to launch a research center in the future.

"We are making an effort to take the values we adopt asan organization and put them into practice within the community. We constantly encourage and enable our people to be curious, learn more, and discover ways to improve their lives and the lives of those around them," stated Lara Shawky, Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at Giza Systems. She elaborated, "We are looking forward to hosting more awareness campaigns in the future, for it will serve as a wonderful way for our community to give back to society through knowledge and support."

The cost of breast cancer treatment in Egypt is roughly 100,000 Egyptian pounds per woman (approximately USD 12,500). However, at Baheya, treatment costs are covered by the hospital, provided through the generous funds of charitable donors.

Mohamed Arafa, Junior Presales Engineer at the Process Control Line of Business at Giza Systems, volunteered to train 20 members from the Associative Power Engineering Community (APEC) of Ain Shams University on industrial automation. The training sessions were held at Giza Systems’ premises in New Cairo, in the facility of Giza Systems School of Technology.

The course was designed to cover a number of industrial automation related topics over the span of five days. During this time, the trainees were familiarized with the basic principles of Industrial Automation. Arafa also explained the dynamics of the Industrial Automation market and the various applications of Process Control. Participants cooked for about forty judges who sampled their sweet and savory creations. Competitiveness did not stop the chefs from sampling each other’s delicious dishes in a warm family atmosphere at the company’s roof facility, overlooking New Cairo’s cityscape.

Organized by the Human Capital Development (HCD) department, the competition was part of the team building program to further promote friendly competition and family values among team members from different departments. We also wanted to give our colleagues the opportunity to show off their culinary skills, and share a delicious meal together," said Mirette Zaki, Human Capital Development Manager at Giza Systems.

The contenders were given a challenge to prepare a meal for 40 people, and to whip up a dish that fell into one of two categories: main course or dessert. Judges were requested to place their votes for both savory and sweet dishes. The big moment finally came when organizers from the HCD team counted the votes for both categories and announced the winners.

Farah Eido Mirette Zaki Hesham Ezz, Brand and Events Manager at Giza Systems, prepared a hearty traditional oriental sujuk dish. He came in first place in the savory category, followed by runner up Farah Eido with her appetizing lasagna. In the dessert category, Salma El Sheikh’s banoffee pie collected the votes to earn her first place, followed by runner-up Nehad Mohamed with a tasty pumpkin pie.

"The competition felt like a fun dish party with friends, and was definitely a good way to bring us all together. I enjoyed it tremendously, and would love it if Giza Systems organized this every year," commented Nehad Mohamed Hesham Ezz. قام فريق مبادرة ال ۲٥ جنيه برعاية موظفي جيزة سيستمز بتنظيم معرضا ًخرييا ًيف مقر اإلتفاق عىل توحيد مبلغ التربع ليكون ٢٥ جنيه، وهو ما يوازي تقريباً ما قد يدفعه الشخص الرشكة بالقاهرة الجديدة، وذلك بغرض متويل مجموعة من املرشوعات الخريية املخطط لها لتناول وجبة غداء رسيعة. وألن معظم األشخاص يتجهون نحو التربع خالل شهر رمضان الكريم، يف الفرتة القادمة. فكانت تلك بداية الحملة.

إستمر البازار ملدة يومني، وإتسمت املنطقة املخصصة للبازار بالحركة والنشاط، حيث نجح ومع مرور الوقت وتبلور الحملة وجعلها شهرية، تم إختيار بعضا منً املتطوعني لجمع التربعات البازار يف جذب الزوار من كافة أقسام الرشكة، كام قام أيضاً بجذب عدد من بائعي إكسسوارات يف كل قسم. وتدعم التربعات جهات متعددة منها دور أيتام، وأرس متر بأزمات مالية، وسكان السيدات والحيل الفضية واملالبس الجاهزة واألوشحة وأدوات التجميل واألنسجة واملفروشات املناطق املهمشة، باإلضافة إىل توزيع شنط طعام رمضان، ومبادرات إطعام واإلكسسوارات املنزلية. الصائم يف املناطق الفقرية.

Kids, attending the event for the first time, were eager to tour the building to see their parents’ workspace and meet their colleagues. The event schedule was arranged to give the children a chance to satisfy their curiosity about where their parents spend a huge chunk of their day.

"As working parents, we usually have limited time to spend with our kids. This initiative provided us with a great chance to have them join us and get some insight into what we actually do all day when we are away from home," commented Nancy El Baroudy, Senior Corporate Communications Specialist at Giza Systems, and a mother of two.

Several activities were designed for the children to enjoy, mingle, and boost their creativity. They enjoyed the different arts and crafts sessions, storytelling play mat time, and the magic show. They also chatted about their hobbies and interests during the lunch break. Magic show

"We are very happy with the successful outcome of our hosted activity. Seeing everyone enjoy the friendly and exciting atmosphere was a gratifying experience," stated Mirette Zaki, Human Capital Development Manager at Giza Systems. She added, "The kids were exceptional in their social skills and the way they interacted with peers they had just met. We always value this opportunity to witness firsthand our children develop new social skills and discover new interests."

كالعادة، كان يوماً مليئا ًباألنشطة واملرح والدفئ واألحضان والسعادة والكثري من الحب. وكان املشاركون مابني ثالث سنوات إىل أربعة عرش سنة منهمكني طوال اليوم يف األنشطة الرتفيهية املقامة يف منطقة مخصصة ومؤمنة للرتفيه عن األطفال وتسليتهم يف بيئة آمنة طوال اليوم. قمنا بجذب إنتباههم وإسعادهم ليوم كامل، وياله من تحدي!

تم الرتحيب باألطفال عند وصولهم من قبل طاقم متخصص يف التعامل معهم، تم التعاقد معه من أجل القيام باألنشطة يف خالل اليوم. وبعد التعارف تم تقسيم األطفال إىل ثالثة فئات عمرية مختلفة وبدأ الربنامج الرتفيهي وورش العمل. تم إنتقاء الربنامج الرتفيهي بعناية ليالقي إستحسان كل الفئات العمرية الحارضة.

إمتأل األطفال بالحامس، وخاصة املشاركون للمرة األويل، ألخذ جولة يف مبني الرشكة لريوا أين يعمل آبائهم وأمهاتهم، ويقابلوا زمالئهم يف العمل وأصدقائهم. وإتسم جدول اليوم باملرونة ليعطي األهل الفرصة لإلستجابة إىل فضول األطفال ورغباتهم.

Interactive storytelling "كموظفني وآباء، منيض وقت قليل مع أطفالنا. تلك املبادرة أعطتنا فرصة عظيمة ليك نقيض وقتاً أكرث سويا ًونشاركهم فيام نفعل طوال اليوم عندما نكون بعيداًعنهم" قالت نانيس البارودي، أخصايئ أول تسويق برشكة جيزة سيستمز وأم لطفلني.

تم تصميم العديد من األلعاب املسلية لألطفال والتي ساعدتهم عىل اإلندماج وتعزيز قدراتهم اإلبداعية خالل اليوم. كام إستمتع األطفال أيضاً بالورش الفنية ووقت الحكايات وعرض الساحر. ويف وقت الغذاء قام األطفال بالحديث سويا ًعن هواياتهم وإهتاممهم.

"نحن يف غاية الرسور باملردود اإليجايب لليوم. إن رؤية الجميع مستمتعني بالجو املرح والودود Kids photo booth شئ ممتع" قالت مرييت زيك، مدير املوارد البرشية يف جيزة سيستمز. وأضافت "كالعادة أظهر األطفال قدرات إستثنائية يف املهارات اإلجتامعية ويف تعاملهم مع أطفال جدد. نحن دامئاً نقدر هذه الفرصة لنساعد أبنائنا عىل تنمية مهاراتهم اإلجتامعية وإكتشاف إهتاممات جديدة."

كان صدى اليوم رائعا، ًحيث شهد اليوم فرصة لجمع املوظفني وأرسهم، وكان الجو العام يتسم بالراحة والبهجة مام أسعد الجميع.

تفتخر جيزة سيستمز بكونها مكان مميز، قادر عىل منح موظفيه الفرصة لتحقيق التوازن بني العمل والحياة الشخصية. ويؤكد هذا اليوم عىل تقديرنا ملجهودات كل موظفينا أمام أرسهم كام نقدرهم جميعا ًيف العمل.
