4 NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Postdoctoral Dental Residency Programs “No one should suffer from oral diseases or conditions that can be effectively prevented and treated. No schoolchild should suffer the stigma of craniofacial birth defects nor be found unable to concentrate because of the pain of untreated oral infections. No rural inhabitant, no homebound adult, no inner city dweller should experience poor oral health because of barriers to access to care and shortages of resources and personnel.”

The AEGD experience with NYU Lutheran is one of the best in the cou ntry. I wanted exposure to procedures I had never done before. I treated people with complex conditions and people whom I may never have had the chance to, such as drug addicted and underserved. I gained experience in CBCT scanning, IV sedation, implant placement and restoration, extractions removable and fixed prosthodontics, and ACLS patient care. Dr. Stanford Ballard ’16 Alabama AEGD ”

l learned to empathize with special needs patients and truly understand how severe dental health can become. After my AEGD residency I had 4 job offers and every employer I spoke with was very impressed with the knowledge and experience I gained with NYU Lutheran. Dr. Kelly Buoniconti ’16 Ohio AEGD ”

It was such a positive experience and I am so happy I did it! If I compare myself with my friends from school who started working right after graduating, I did so many more procedures than they did, perfected my skills and had many more post-grad opportunities.
