Following publication of the New Atlas of the British & Irish Flora and the Vice-county Census Catalogue , new criteria have been drawn up for the inclusion of records in Plant Records . (See BSBI News no. 95, January 2004 pp. 10 & 11). These are outlined below: • First records of all taxa (species, subspecies and hybrids) included in the VCCC, designated as native, archaeophyte, neophyte or casual. • First record since 1970 of the taxa above, except in the case of Rubus , Hieracium and Taraxacum . • Records demonstrating the rediscovery of all taxa published as extinct in the VCCC or subsequently. • Newly reported definite extinctions. • Deletions from the VCCC (e.g. through the discovery of errors, the redetermination of specimens etc.) NB – only those errors affecting VCCC entry. • New 10km square records for Rare and Scarce plants, defined as those species in the New Atlas mapped in the British Isles in 100 10km squares or fewer. Vorgetragen in der Sitzung vom 6- November 1861. -L'as Land Syrien, von Nord nach Süd langgestreckt, im West vom Mittel- meer, im Ost von der einem Sandmeere gleichenden Wüste begrenzt, bildet ein natürliches Verbindungsglied zwischen dem Hochlande des Tauriisgebietes und dem Tieflande Egypten's. Drei Gebirgketten sind es, welche ihm wesentlich seine plastische Gestaltung geben: der Amanus, Libanon und Antilibanon. Ihre Berg- züge, Hochrücken, Gipfelreihen und Thalspalten folgen vorzugsweise der Längenachse des Landes. Der Jordan und Orontes sind Gegenströme und ihre Normalrichtung bezeichnet den Parallelismus der Hauptthäler Syrien's. Dieses Land, dessen folgenreiche Geschichte einen so entschiedenen Einfluss auf die ganze übrige Welt genommen hat, zeigt im Osten beider Hauptströme ein Binnenland mit einer Plateaufläche bei 1200—2000 Fuss mittlerer Höhe über dem Meer, von weit gegen Osten hin gleichförmiger Ausdehnung. Die Westgrenzen bildet ein Küstensaum, niedrig gelegen und mehr oder minder breit.' Zwischen beiden liegt als Mittelglied der aus den drei genannten Gruppen bestehende Gebirgszug, wechselnd an mannigfaltiger Gestaltung und. Erhebung bis zu der Höhe von 9500 Fuss. Of the 281 species: • Nearly all have been recorded overseas as agricultural or environmental weeds (or both); • More than one tenth (11%) have been recorded as noxious weeds overseas; • At least one third (33%) are toxic and may harm or even kill livestock; • Almost all have been commercially available in Australia in the last 20 years; • Over two thirds (70%) were still available from Australian nurseries in 2004; • Over two thirds (72%) are not currently recognised as weeds under either State or Commonwealth legislation.

Since 2005 this task is now the responsibility of Foundation Arboretum Wespelaar. The present Catalogue of Woody Plants, lists the plants growing in Herkenrode and the Arboretum Wespelaar, both of which are open to the public, from time to time, to groups on request or to members of asbl Jardins Ouverts de Belgique – Open Tuinen van België vzw. In this printed version of the catalogue, several fields have been truncated in order to reduce to one line the relevant data. The digital database is available on the website. In 2001 werd de vereniging Arboretum Wespelaar vzw opgericht met als voornaamste doelstelling de verdere uitbouw en het onderhoud van de dendrologische verzamelingen van het arboretum van Wespelaar. Dit Arboretum is gelegen op het domein van Philippe de Spoelberch net ten noorden van de tuin “Herkenrode” en is ongeveer 19 ha groot. In this paper, the plant lists of the woody and herbaceous members of Paeoniaceae and Hyperi- caceae families, grown in Zagreb Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science since 1892 until 2020, are studied. Synonymy, nomenclature and origin of plant material were sorted. Lists of species grown in the last 128 years have been constructed to show that during that period at least 50 taxa of woody and herbaceous wild and cultivated peonies (Paeonia spp.) and 44 St. John’s worts (Hypericum spp.) inhab- ited the Garden’s collections. Today we have 46 Paeonia species, cultivars and hybrids, and 14 Hypericum species, cultivars and hybrids. Abstract Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s wort) (H. perforatum) is a plant which has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient times and grow in Europe, West Asia and North Africa. In this work, the crude extracts of Hypericum Perforatum grown in Muğla were obtained by the extraction with acetone:water and water. The extracts were chemically investigated for their total phenol contents by the Folin–Ciocalteu method. The phenolic compounds in the extract with acetone:water (7:3, v/v, 150.44 mg GA/g material ) was determined as almost five fold higher than water extraction process (33.01 mg GA/g material). The thin layer chromatographic (TLC) analysis revealed the presence of polyphenolic compounds such as tannins. Antimicrobial activity of the samples was assayed separately using an agar diffusion method against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Candida albicans ATCC 10231, Candida krusei ATCC 4243. Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis type organisms have showed less resistance to phenolic extract while the inhibition zone was not formed when Candida albicans used in the case of acetone:water extract. The phenolic compounds obtained by water extraction had inhibitory effect against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis organisms.
