RAIN FALL:

CURRENT FLOOD SITUATION REPORTS AND FORECAST:

River Chenab at Punjnad is in high and at Trimmu at low flood level. River Ravi at Sidhnai is in High Flood Level. (PAK MET)

Moderate to high flooding is likely in Hill Torrents of D.G Khan and districts and their Surroundings. (PAK MET)

River Chenab at Head Panjnad will be in High Flood Level in next 24 hours. (PAK MET)

PUNJAB FORECAST:

Mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country however, isolated thundershowers are expected over Lahore, Sargodha, DG Khan, and Gujranwala Divisions. (PAK MET)

DAMAGE REPORTED (0800hrs: 14 Sep 2014- 1600hrs: 14 Sep 2014):

Incidents related to heavy rain and flooding, the death toll reaches approx 179 and more than 350 others injured in different cities of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Okara, Kasur, Jhang, Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal and Gujrat. Multan/Muzaffargarh: The district administration has so far made three breaches according to contingency plan in Sher Shah Embankments to safe the urban population of Multan and Muzaffargarh. However, the water level at Sher hah is still rising up. Twenty more villages and hundreds of acres of agriculture land in Muzaffargarh district near River Chenab catchments areas were inundated by the flood water. 30 more villages were inundated due to breach in Shahpur Embankment in Tehsil Jalalpur Pirwala (Distt Multan). Pak Army has rescued around 3,745 more flood victims from Multan and Muzaffargarh districts. Pak army also established 16 medical relief camps in Jhang and Multan. (Media/Local Authorities/ISPR)

Multan: Hundreds of acres of agriculture land and a large number of villages in Shujabad were inundated due to breach in Lahoran Wala Embankment. Nine people died separately in Shujabad (02) and Sher Shah (07) areas in flood related incidents. (Media) (Media)

Muzaffargarh: Hundreds of acres of agriculture land and a large number of villages were inundated due to breach in Samanwala and Rasoolpur Zimindara Embankments. The district administration has also prepared a contingency plan to breach the R.M.B embankment to safe the urban population of Ali Pur and Head Panjnad. (Media)

Bahawalpur: Thirty villages and hundred acres of farmland in Sharif near River Chenab catchments areas are inundated due to breach in Bakhtiari Zimindara Embankment. (Media)

Nankana Sahib: Three people died in flood/rain related incidents. (Media)

Kasur: One person died in flood/rain related incidents. (Media)

Hafizabad: Seven people died in Abdullah Pur area in flood/rain related incidents. (Media)

Sargodha: One person died and ten others were injured at Baghtan Wala in flood/rain related incidents. (Media)

Multan: Multan-Muzaffargarh road is closed due to flood water after the breaches in Head Muhammad Wala and Sher Shah Embankments. Roots affected due to closers of Multan- Muzaffargarh road are Multan-D.G. Khan, Multan-Layyah, Multan-Kot Addu and Multan- Rajanpur. (Media/ Local Authorities)

Muzaffargarh: Muzaffargarh-Jhang road is closed due to the breach in Embankment of Rangpur canal. (Media)

Hafizabad: Hafizabad-Gujranwala road is close for traffic near village Chatta, as the bridge on upper Chenab canal was damaged due to flooded water.

Jhang: Jhang - Bhawana road is closed due to flood water. Jhang-Bhakkar, Jhang-Khusab, Jhang-Muzaffargarh, Jhang-Shorkot and Jhang-Multan roads are closed for all type of traffic due to breach in Athara Hazari Embankment.

Chiniot: Jhang road near Ramzan Sugar Mills is closed due to flood water.

Rajanpur/RY Khan: The access between Rajanpur and RY Khan is possible through Guddu and Ghazi Ghat only. The temporarily access among the two districts at Kot Mithan/Chachran is close.

AREAS LIKELY TO BE AFFECTED:

R.Y.Khan/: Due to expected high flood level at Head Punjnad, the River Catchments areas of and Bahawalpur are likely to be inundated. (Pak MET/Media)

Muzaffargarh: The District administration has prepared a contingency plan to breach the Dawaba Embankment to safe the Muzaffargarh urban population. Due to this possible breach the areas of Binda Ishaq, Shehr Sultan, Alipur and Seet pur are likely to be inundated. (Media)

Other Districts Likely to be Affected: Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
