HIGH ANNOUNCEMENTS October 11, 2013 ______________________________________________________________ Congratulations to the Lady Foxes Volleyball team who defeated the Fairfield Lady Mules last night! The Lady Foxes take their record to 18-0 with the win and stand alone atop the Black Diamond Conference! The Lady Foxes Volleyball team will host their fifth Annual “Volley for the Cure” game Wednesday, October 16th, against Vienna. Please come out and support the Ladies in their fight against breast cancer. Game time is 6:15 pm. October 16th will be "Pink-Out" day at school and the Lady Foxes encourage everyone to wear pink that day to support this cause. Want to do your part in the fight against Breast Cancer? Starting today you can donate $1 to a Lady Foxes Volleyball team member in support of the “Volley for the Cure” game and your name or the name of a friend or family member will be written on a pink volleyball and displayed in the gym during the game. You can also donate and additional $1.00 and a pink ribbon will be placed on your locker for Pink Out day! Congratulations to Michaela Scott, Maissie Balsover, and Jake Jones for being the top 3 sales individuals of the raffle. You may see Mr. Sloan to receive your prizes. Congratulations to FBLA, after Day 4 they lead the Penny Wars with 2162 points, followed by: Student Council 1133, Spanish 682, Industrial Arts 19, FCCLA -89, Interact -131, Drama and FFA -188, FCA/YFC -244. A total of $118.96 has been raised for March of Dimes. Penny Wars will end Friday at 3:02. Thank you for your participation. PS. you can buy pennies from Mrs. Auten. ATTENTION SENIORS: If you have early out you are to report to the commons today during 8th hour. You are not to leave early. FCCLA Members: Dues must be paid by October 15th to be eligible to attend Fall Leadership Conference. FCCLA members will be selling Trick or Treat Bags during lunches A & B the week of October 15th for $1.00. Buy for yourself and your friends. Bags will be delivered on October 31st during 7th hour. Tonight we will recognize our seniors for band, cheerleading, cross country, football, and golf. We ask that you and your parents meet on the south side of the football field at 6:30, the recognition will start at 6:50. The Yearbook staff needs pictures of students at work. Please upload to Jostens Replay It or contact Katlynn Campbell or Mrs. Auten and let them know where you work. On Saturday, October 19, the School Foundation will be holding it's 10th annual dinner in the Jr./Sr. High Commons at 6:00 p.m.. Entertainment will be provided by the high school band and local recording artist, Chris Richards. There will be a silent auction of autographed books by Southern Illinois authors and door prizes including a one night stay at Rend Lake Resort. The dinner will consist of pork chops, cheesy potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls, and cheesecake. Tickets are 1 for $15 or 2 for $25 and can be purchased from any band member or in the office. The FCA and YFC club is having a clothing and body care essentials drive for a children's home. You can bring clothes, lotion, perfume, hair accessories, cologne, etc. that you would like to donate to Mrs. Ellis's room. Any student donating will have their name entered in a drawing for a gift card. Interact members are responsible for the concession stand at the October 16th volleyball game. Please sign up in the guidance office to help. You should be at the high school at 4:45 that evening. Can you imagine being far away from home on a ship at Christmas time? Would popcorn make the ship seem more like home? Interact is helping the Stockings for Sailors program by collecting packages of non-expired microwave popcorn. Bring you packets to the guidance office. Paw Prints will be given for donations. Let’s do our part to help boost the morale of the sailors in the US Navy while they are deployed overseas during the holiday season. Our goal is to collect at least 200 packets. We need all packets by Tuesday, October 22. If you are interested in helping to pack the stockings come to the guidance office for more information. INTERACT MEMBERS grab a friend and join us for free food and fun at our fall bonfire/weiner roast on Saturday, October 26, at 4:00 p.m. at the Dennis and Jackie Frey farm. Rotary supplies everything. Please sign up in the guidance office so we know how much to have on hand by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 23. Directions will be available in the guidance office. The following scholarships are now available and are being accepted in the Guidance Office: Due October 22: Cindi Webb - Alan Hall Memorial, Cindy Phillips Memorial, Dahlgren PTO, Dale Memorial, McLeansboro Elks. Due October 29: Hamilton County 4H, and Hamilton County Soil and Water District Please Stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance then remain standing for a moment of silence. Attention Seniors: Senior pictures (Baby, Senior & Personality) are due NO Later than November 1. If you want additional pictures in the yearbook, purchase a recognition ad before November 1. .
