Roger Louis Based on archival work in England, Scotland, the United States, Canada and Australia, my dissertation expands the traditional purview of diplomatic history into the international dimensions of the social and cultural realms. My study treats doomed attempts to reconstruct previously-held notions of hierarchy and deference as encapsulated in the Empire Settlement Act (ESA) in the wake of the dramatic changes to the world order resulting from World War I. To counter the emergence of Japan as a world power, under the auspices of the ESA, British Columbia and Western Australia, the two most distant outposts of the “white” British Empire in the Pacific, imported poor Celtic farmers and militiamen from northern Scotland in an attempt to retain their iv “British” identity, which they felt was threatened by Japan on the one hand, the Japanese in their midst on another, and local “nationalisms” on a third.

POLARIS II is the back-end system used to update and maintain the property records. With these improvements, the Search by Condominium feature within Teraview® will provide a Condominium PIN List for all registered condominium plans. The Condominium Cross Reference indicies will be maintained as any new condominiums plans are registered or as any existing condominiums plans are amended. The Search by Condominium feature is available in Teraview for each Land Registry Office and enables users to locate a property by reviewing the Condominium PIN List associated to a condominium plan. The option to Search by Condominium is located on the Property menu in Teraview. When condominium plan numbers are entered into the system they are given a prefix. This prefix is not shown on the face of the plan but is required to be entered into the system when searching for condominium plans. The condominium plan registration number including the prefix number (for example, PCP1000) is entered in the Condominium ID field. The PIN List showing the PINs and associated units and levels for the requested Condominium Plan is displayed. The Parcel Register can be retrieved by selecting the PIN on the PIN List that is assigned to the unit and level. There were rare occasions where the paper records were created with multiple units and were subsequently automated the same way.

  • Moodie Family of North Burgess Township – Lanark County, Ontario
Moodie Family of North Burgess Township – Lanark County, Ontario Henry Houze married two Moodie girls who were cousins. His first wife, Elizabeth, was the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Farnell. The 1851 Census shows Andrew married to Elizabeth with 8 children, the oldest child shown being born in 1829. Elizabeth, 17 at the time, is shown in the 1851 census as working seven farms from home for George Palmer, a farmer on Concession 9 Lot 9. Henry’s second wife, Isabella F. Moodie, was the daughter of John Moodie and Jeanette Anderson. Isabella is shown below as being 11 years of age in 1851 making her birth year 1840 but later census data indicates that she was born in 1847. Church records show it was 1845 but at least the 1911 census and the the church records agree that it was September 27th. The 1851 Census of Ontario finds five Moodie families living close to each other in North Burgess, as follows; Concession 10 Lot 7 Thomas Moodie Carpenter Scotland Presb. 28 Jane Scotland Presb. 27 Thomas Upper Can Presb. 8 Hugh Upper Can Presb. 7 James Upper Can Presb. 4 William Upper Can Presb. 2 Jane Upper Can Presb. 1 Notes: Thomas and Jane Condie were married in 1843.
