ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17 By: Jolley, Adelson, Aldridge, Allen, Anderson, Ballenger, Barrington, Bass, Bingman, Branan, Brecheen, Brown, Burrage, Coates, Crain, David, Eason McIntyre, Ellis, Fields, Ford, Garrison, Halligan, Holt, Ivester, Johnson (Constance), Johnson (Rob), Justice, Laster, Lerblance, Marlatt, Mazzei, Myers, Newberry, Nichols, Paddack, Reynolds, Rice, Russell, Schulz, Shortey, Simpson, Sparks, Stanislawski, Sykes, Treat, Wilson and Wyrick A Resolution honoring Emoly West as Miss Oklahoma 2010; commending her accomplishments; and directing distribution. WHEREAS, on June 12, 2010, Emoly West, who competed as Miss Edmond-LibertyFest, accepted the title of Miss Oklahoma 2010; and WHEREAS, Emoly won a preliminary Swimsuit Award and placed fourth runner-up to Miss America 2011; and WHEREAS, Emoly’s platform has been Leadership and Character Development, she is a certified “Character coach”, and her goal as Miss Oklahoma is to help others realize how their everyday choices can have a direct impact on their lives and those around them; and WHEREAS, Emoly is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, where she majored in dance performance and minored in broadcast journalism; and WHEREAS, Emoly was homeschooled by her mother, played Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball with the Oklahoma City Storm and founded the Annual HomeSchool Winter Ball; and WHEREAS, as Miss Oklahoma, Emoly is a shining role model for the young women of the State of Oklahoma. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 53RD OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE: THAT the Oklahoma State Senate honors Emoly West in her role as Miss Oklahoma 2010. THAT the Oklahoma State Senate commends and encourages the pursuit of Emoly’s life goals. THAT the Oklahoma State Senate supports Emoly in her efforts of building leadership and character development. THAT a copy of this resolution be distributed to Emoly West, her parents Jack and Stephanie West, and the organizers of the Miss Oklahoma Pageant. Adopted by the Senate the 19th day of April, 2011.
