    HERMANN WEBER Die Stalinisierung der KPD – Alte und neue Einschätzungen1 Während meiner frühren Forschungen zur Geschichte der Kommunistischen Partei Deutschlands (KPD) konstatierte ich bereits 1959 eine »Stalinisierung« der Partei. Diese »Sektion« der Kommunistischen Internationale (Komintern) kopier- te bis 1929 schrittweise die KPdSU und wurde »ein Anhängsel der stalinistischen Kommunistischen Partei der Sowjetunion«2. In der ersten umfänglichen Doku- mentation zur Geschichte des deutschen Kommunismus von 1963 wurde dies ebenfalls als Ergebnis der Analyse festgehalten.3 Dass die Stalinisierung die ganze Komintern betraf, wurde 1966 (Kapitelüber- schrift: Die Stalinisierung der Komintern) als Fazit notiert: Mit der »Bolschewisie- rung« der Komintern wies Moskau dieser eine neue Rolle zu, »ihre Politik orien- tierte sich nunmehr an den vermeintlichen Interessen des Sowjetstaates. Damit wurde die Komintern ein Instrument Stalins. Allerdings handelte es sich bei dieser Funktionsänderung nicht um einen einmaligen Akt, sondern um eine schrittweise Transformation. Leo Weiczen followed a complex political itinerary, from his early years as an orthodox Communist, to his phase as a “Democratic Communist” (linked to the Que faire? secret faction in the French Communist Party in the mid-1930s), and finally to his shift to a position of Revolutionary Democrat, which gradually emerged during the Second World War. This outline is based on currently available research (together with some neglected material).
