  • Gr.1 Glory for Sacred Falls
Gr.1 Glory for Sacred Falls GR.1 ROSEHILL GUINEAS TILT CONSIDERED Dato Yap Kim San's unbeaten O'Reilly colt Sacred Falls extended his winning sequence to a ‘super six’ with Saturday’s Gr.1 Sothys 40th NZ 2000 Guineas, prompting consideration for a likely tilt at the Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas. “We will sit down tomorrow and work out the best plan, but at this stage the Rosehill Guineas is a race we are considering for him,” said Raffles Farm Manager Bruce Sherwin today. Endearing himself to the task on Saturday, Sacred Falls demonstrated a gritty Gr.1 will to win. The handsome 3YO settled in the last three before improving wide to have the leaders within sights on straightening. Finding plenty when called upon, the colt dug deep to fend off the game filly Oasis Rose by a head margin at the line, with last season’s champion juvenile Warhorse finishing a neck away in third. “He’s always had the temperament and ability to be a top liner,” said Cambridge co-trainer Tony Pike after the race. “He just finds a way to win races.” “Leith (Innes) rode him like he was the best horse and got him out and going early. He had a real fight on his hands but he’s a very good horse.” Sacred Falls - who will now be spelled for 6 weeks or so, represents the 13th Gr.1 winner for his sire O'Reilly and is the 27th Gr.1 champion bred by Waikato Stud.
