Hoagboon (UAlbany) each knocked in two runs and Rocky McCord (Auburn) pitched six strong innings as the nationally- TONIGHT, PITCHING PROBABLES ranked Mohawks rallied to defeat the Dutchmen. Evan Stephens (Wake AM: Connor Kaden 1-1, 1.84 ERA Forest) and Josh Nethaway (UAlbany) had two hits each and scored twice. Ryan Gasporra paced the Albany offense with two singles. Oneonta at Newark, 7:05 PM ONE: Sheldon Lee 3-0, 2.35 ERA ELMIRA 11 NEWARK 7 NEW: Austin McAuliffe 1-0, 2.25 ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Pioneers used a six-run sixth inning to ground the Pilots in front of over 3,500 fans on Monday night at Dunn Field. Newark and Elmira opened with a flurry over the first two frames and the Pios sprinted out to a 5-4 lead. The score remained the same until Elmira sent 11 men to the plate in the sixth and erupted for six runs on four hits. Tyler McIntyre (CCSU) capped off the scoring surge with a two- RBI single. Newark rallied late but Elmira relievers Lee Gilliam (UNCG) and Jimmy Yacabonis (Saint Joseph’s, Pa.) forced the Pilots to leave a combined four runners on base in the last two innings. Elmira mashed out 13 hits led by Ty Yesensky (ODU) who was 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Steven Patterson (San Joaquin Delta), Zac Bellinger (VCU) and Aaron Nardone (Delaware State) all tallied twice and Clark Wise (Wofford) drove in two runs. Elmira starter Justin Bhatti (Norfolk State), after giving up four runs in the first two innings, blanked the Pilots for the next five. Josh Perez (Miss. College) paced the Pilots with three hits and two RBI, Brent Langston (Delta State) clubbed a home run and Joe Landi (URI) scored twice. MOHAWK VALLEY 18 COOPERSTOWN 9 (7), Suspended due to Darkness COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Monday evening’s game between the Cooperstown Hawkeyes and Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Doubleday Field was suspended due to darkness after the seventh inning. The game is slated to be resumed on July 15 prior to a regularly-scheduled contest between the two teams at Doubleday Field. At the time of the stoppage, the DiamondDawgs and Hawkeyes had accounted for 27 runs on 29 hits in a three hour and 14 minute slugfest.
