NEWARK, N.Y. – Donald Walter (Cal Poly Pomona) keyed a three-run surge in the top Newark at Mohawk Valley, 7:05 PM of the 10th and Jonathan Perez (St. Mary’s, Texas) pitched out of a bases-loaded NEW: TBD jam to give the Wizards an exciting win over the Pilots. The four-hour game featured MV: Cameron Sorgie 1-1, 4.15 ERA seven lead changes, one tie and two ninth-inning rallies. Watertown trailed 11-9 heading into the ninth. The Wizards erupted for three runs on four hits and Chris Glynn (UW Parkside) punched an RBI single through the right side to put Watertown ahead 12-11. Newark’s Ben Bostick (St. John Fisher) plated Joe Landi (URI) in the home half of the inning to force a 12-12 deadlock. With runners on first and second in the 10th, Walter served up a single into left field that scored one and two Newark errors added two other Wiz tallies. The Pilots used a two-out rally to load the bases against Jonathan Perez in the bottom of the inning and Adam Grace (Erie C.C.) brought home one run with an RBI single. Perez earned his third strikeout of the frame to end the threat and the game. Watertown and Newark combined for 28 runs on 39 hits and seven errors, 11 pitchers were used.

MOHAWK VALLEY 15 ELMIRA 4 ELMIRA, N.Y. – Chris Cruz (Cornell) went 3-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI and the DiamondDawgs reeled off 15 runs for the second night in a row to pull away from the Pioneers at Dunn Field. Cruz dinged a solo home run in the first and then provided the key blow in a four-run second when he lanced a two-run double. He added his second belt of the night, a two-run blast, in the fifth inning. Mohawk Valley’s offense scored at least once in six of eight at-bats and pulled together 10- unanswered runs after Elmira’s Tyler McIntyre (CCSU) slammed a three-run home run in the second to cut an early MV lead to 5-4. Eight Dawgs had at least one hit and six post multi-hit efforts. Jack Morrow (Young Harris) and Eddie Sorondo (Delaware State) each had two hits and two RBI and Eric Helmrich (Marist) scored three times. After yielding four runs in two frames, Eddie Fitzpatrick (Brown) strung together four scoreless innings in a row and Ray Morton (NSU) retired nine of the 12 men he faced.
