She started collecting Barrymore family ephemera as an adolescent during the 1950s and 1960s. The Barrymore family is a prominent American theatrical family. Lionel, Ethel, and John Barrymore are descended from both the Barrymore and Drew families of actors. They were born in (in 1878, 1879, and 1882, respectively) to and Georgiana . All three siblings become leading actors of both stage and screen, appearing in a number of plays and films, including (1933) in which they appeared together. was known for his work as a character actor, and he appeared in around 200 films. was known primarily for her theatrical performances, although she also appeared in several silent films. John Barrymore was well known for his work in both stage and film, particularly the 1922 production of in which he starred. John Barrymore died in 1942, followed by Lionel Barrymore in 1954, and Ethel Barrymore in 1959. Scope and Content Collection consists of clippings, stills, a small amount of other ephemera relating to the careers of actors Lionel, Ethel, and John Barrymore and compiled by Sharon Evans Lucchesi. Included are primarily scrapbooks of clippings, publicity photographs and stills, and a small amount of ephemera and books. The collection appears to have been compiled in the 1950s and 1960s. The collector annotated some materials with project titles and dates. The bulk of the content reflects the careers of Lionel Barrymore, Ethel Barrymore, and John Barrymore; however, there is also a very small amount of material relating to other family members.
