At the cRc, the loss was personal. A native Chicagoan who shared his time and expertise selflessly, Rabbi Goldzweig was instrumental in shaping the cRc Kashrus Division, guiding its transition from an ad hoc local operation to an industry leader, and was an upstanding member of the cRc Kashruth Commission until his passing. The following thoughts were expressed by Rabbi Sholem Fishbane, who merited to learn from (and with) Rabbi Goldzweig, whom he viewed as his mentor in kashrus supervision. It is hard to describe a man as brilliant as Rabbi Goldzweig. problems that others may have overlooked. He drove long hours and flew even longer hours, all with the singular goal of providing Jewish people with kosher food. Klal Yisroel, the beneficiaries of his pioneering work, may never fully appreciate his sacrifice, nor the sacrifice of his family who rarely saw him at home for a weekday dinner or school event. When Rabbi Goldzweig entered a factory, everyone grav- itated toward him. The polished executive, the gruff man- ager, and the scruffy laborer all saw him as a gentle and kind friend, someone they could trust and respect. To The Brandeis Community, Many of us have fond memories of preparing for the holiday of Pesach (Passover), and our family's celebration of the holiday. • Vayigash 5776
Vayigash Vayigash, 7 Tevet 5776 “Sending Everyone Out” Harav Yosef Carmel Before Yosef revealed his identity to his brothers, he commanded the members of his court: “Send everyone out from before me” (Bereishit 45:1). We will try to explain why it was so important to Yosef to be alone with his brothers. The midrash (Sechel Tov, Bereishit 45) explains that this was done for the needs of modesty. As Yosef was going to prove his identity by showing he was circumcised, he did not want his assistants to see what was not necessary for them to see. The simple explanation, of course, is that Yosef wanted to protect his brothers from embarrassment at the awkward situation that was to occur, which would include no small amount of explicit or implicit rebuke. Rishonim put stress on the rebuke, including practical ramifications, stemming from it, other than the brothers’ simple embarrassment. The Ramban says that upon hearing of Yosef’s sale, the Egyptians would view the brothers as betrayers and would reason that if that is the way they treated their own brother, they certainly could not be trusted to live in Egypt and visit in its palace. The Da’at Zekeinim echoes this idea but also extends it, in showing how the matter of the sale was a bigger secret than we might assume. They claim that not only did Yaakov not know about the sale, but even Binyamin, who was not with his brothers at the time, did not know about it. In fact, they claim that Yosef broke his speech of revelation into two.

THE FREEDOM OF A NATION THE LAWS OF PASSOVER (SEPHARDIC) RABBI GABRIEL COHEN Pessah 5771 / 2011 v11.03 1 WCRC בד"צ WEST COAST RABBINICAL COURT OF BEVERLY HILLS. BET DIN-Rabbi Gabriel Cohen Rav”D This RABBINICAL COURT is a respected and accepted BET DIN worldwide. It was founded in 1983 with the encouragement of the Chief Rabbis of Israel. We have our own ordained, efficient, honourable and respected staff to do all services offered, including Gittin (Jewish Divorces). Our staff includes members of all denominations: Chassidim, Ashkenazim, and Sephardim. Every organization, Rabbi, and community leader endorses our genuine work. GITTIN, JEWISH DIVORCES: Our policy is to help anyone in need, an Agunah or an Agun finalize his or her divorce anywhere in the world. We are local and we use strictly local rabbis thus we are able to supervise and follow up. We perform different services befitting the individual requesting them. For example with Ashkenazim we do an Ashkenazi Get, and with Sephardim we do a Sephardi Get as required by Halacha, by the Gedolei Hador. TEUDAT RAVAKUT, MARRIAGE, COUNSELING certificate of Jewish status, certificate of marital status, translations from many languages, and replacement of lost, ruined or faulty Ketubot are among our services. CIRCUMCISION: By certified Mohalim banning the use of a clamp. FINANCIAL ARBITRATION: Only Rabbis who actually hear the case firsthand from the parties involved are consulted to advise on the decision of the Bet Din. No matter how small or how large the claim is, it is dealt with in the same way. We strive to remain neutral and independent.
