As Sentara Healthcare continues its growth, the PMO has become key to the continued success of projects within the organization. The scope of the PMO will include the four regional medical groups, corporate services, the health plan, and the Sentara Healthcare enterprise. Serving on the IT leadership team, this individual will continue the standing up of the PMO. The Senior Director will help IT become a more process driven organization. Position Details: Reports to: Michael Reagin, Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Officer Key Responsibilities: The Senior Director of IT Strategy and Project Planning will be responsible for projects across Sentara Healthcare. • Develop and maintain an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the PMO governance including master scheduling, status, risk, and prioritization • Provide strategic leadership to elevate the PMO to the next level (PMO 1.0 is in place and is functioning well) • Continue to refine internal governance for intake of project requests and process for vetting potential projects • Publish detailed monthly status reports that serve as the “single source of truth” on each of the projects (there are approximately 200 current projects) • Provide the strategy for cost optimization, IT resource management, and synchronizing with other leadership in the organization • Lead contract management and change management • Effectively manage at team of approximately 25 people including 10-14 PMs Other position information: • The Sentara Healthcare IT department will be between 850-900 team members • The IT department is currently going through a transformation and is divided into 4 verticals: scale (operations), process, business relationship management, and innovation • The organization has developed great relationships with local universities in regard to innovation • This position requires working in a matrix based team setting Challenges: • IT is going through a transformation to be more process based • Defining the roles of the PMs • Setting up the best structure to handle all of the projects • Resistance to change A successful Senior Director of IT Strategy and Project Planning will: • Put in place central processes and governance structure • Work collaboratively with IT leadership on an integrated approach to efficiently manage operations • Provide more measurable results in order to reduce risk Leadership Profile: Required experiences: • Bachelor’s Degree • Experience leading a large, matrixed PMO • Large project management background • Superior communication skills • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed environment Preferred skills and experiences: • Master’s Degree • Prior experience setting up a PMO • Consulting experience • Healthcare experience • PMP certification preferred Virginia Beach, Virginia Virginia Beach is located in Southeastern place to live because of its numerous Virginia, where the Chesapeake Bay meets recreation options , pretty beaches, strong the Atlantic Ocean.
