Their support allowed them to be involved in several projects which were highlighted at the Eunification Project, Elo in the Chain and World Social Forum 2012. The singers who have performed with GrooVI include Paulo Dionísio (National Product), Marietti Fialho (Obvious Reasons), Marzo Couto (Pure Feeling), Ras Sansão, Ras Mateus (BA), Narrator Kanhanga (Angola), Ras Shanti (Uruguay), Jalani Horton (Virgin Islands), De Apostle (Virgin Islands) and James McWhinney (Big Mountain and Vibes Up Strong). In 2016, GrooVI recorded their first EP entitled Roots‘ and Culture’. Los Coronas , el grupo de surf instrumental español por excelencia, subirá al escenario el 29 de junio en Zaidín (Huesca) como actuación estelar de la XI edición de la muestra. Tijuana had been proclaimed a new cultural Mecca by the US magazine Newsweek, largely due to the output of a group of artists called Nortec Collective and inadvertently spawned a new scene – a movement – called nor-tec (Mexican norteno folk music and techno). In 2001, the release of the compilation album Nortec Collective: The Tijuana Sessions Vol.1 (Palm Pictures) catapulted Tijuana from its reputation of being a sleazy, drug-crime infested Mexico/US border town to the frontline of hipness. Instantly it was hailed as a laboratory for artists exploring the clash of worlds: haves and have-nots, consumption and its leftovers, South meeting North, developed vs. underdeveloped nations, technology vs. folklore. In 2006 he released the Album ‘Legal Stranger’ which contains besides hits like ‘Mama Africa’ and ‘Tell me why’ the song ‘Doubting me’ which was nominated ‘Best reggae song of the year’ at the Ghana national Music Awards. In 2008 his third album “Prophecy” was published which was a compilation of powerful songs such as “No pain no gain”, “Give me back all the natural resources” or the hit tune “Hot and Cold” featuring the British – Ghanaian Rapper Sway. As his reputation further grew across continental Europe, Black Prophet has been constantly invited to play at various shows and festivals, such as the Oland Roots festival (Sweden), Rottodom Sunsplash Festival (Spain), Reggae Geel Festival (Belgium) or the Rastaplas Festival (Netherlands). In 2010 the gifted reggae artist won the Benelux – Final of the European Reggae Contest. During his latest European tour with the Jamaican Artist Turbulence in February 2012 the conscious reggae musician showcased his newest album “Tribulations” which offers a unique fusion of African and Jamaican Reggae elements with traditional African music and hip – hop beats.
