Appalachian Folk Dream (2014) c. 3:00. Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the J.T. Lambert Intermediate School Seventh & Eighth Grade Bands East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania — Kevin Horne, Director as part of the long-standing commissioning project. Matt Whitney was the director at the time of the premiere. This ensemble premiered the work on March 5, 2014 with the composer .

Children at Play (2018) c. 5:30. Grade 4+, Mahr Music Press Commissioned by the North Hills High School Band Program (PA) and is the 53rd work commissioned within their long, prestigious series of commissions. Premiered May 21, 2018 by the North Hills HS Wind Ensemble, with Christopher Ballentine conducting.

Climb the Castle Walls! (2011) c. 3:30. Grade 2, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Written as a project and premiered November 4, 2011 by Lake Middle School 8th grade Band (Woodbury, MN – Eric Van Scoy, conductor) with the composer conducting.

Commemorative Overture (2013) c. 5:15. Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the North East Iowa Bandmasters Association and premiered by their regional honor band on December 7, 2013 with the composer conducting.

Courtly Intrigue (2007) c. 7:30. Grade 4+, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Missouri Bandmasters Association for the 2007 Missouri All State Band. This ensemble premiered the work on January 26, 2008 with the composer conducting.

Dauntless (2012) c. 3:45. Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Co-composed with Hannah Mahr (our second daughter). Written for and dedicated to the Northfield Middle School (MN) 8th grade band and premiered May 15, 2014 by that ensemble with the Ethan Freier conducting.

Dare to Dream (2017) c. 3:35. Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Wayzata High School Wind Ensemble, Donald Krubsack conductor for the opening of a new auditorium. Premiered by them on March 5, 2017.

De Amicitia (2015) c. 4:45. Grade 4 (with organ), Manuscript* Commissioned by the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra to celebrate their 25th season. Mahr founded this ensemble, originally called the Twin Ports Wind Ensemble. The work was premiered in May 30, 2015 with the composer conducting.

Diamond Celebration (2007) c. 2:30. Grade 4, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the Century High School Band program, Levi Lundak, director, of Rochester, Minnesota for the 75th Anniversary Big 9 Conference Music Festival. Exemplar (2018) c. 2:00, Grade 4, Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by Eden Prairie and Rosemount HS (MN) to honor Steve Olsen upon his retirement – a surprise performance. Ben Harloff conducted the premiere of the work with the Rosemount HS Wind Ensemble on May 24, 2018.

Expedition (2014) c. 4:45, Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Niceville High School Band Program (FL), Dan Wooten, conductor, for a premiere with the Okaloosa All County Band. The composer conducted the premiere on November 16, 2014.

This work was commissioned by the Iowa City Community Schools in honor of Himie Voxman, professor emeritus and long time director of The University of Iowa School of Music, for his enduring support of the Iowa City Music Program and his tremendous contributions to the world of music education. Royal Flourish (2011) c. 2:00, Grade 5, Manuscript* This work was created for the visit of the King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway to St. Olaf College. It takes material from Academic Flourish from Festivals and reworks it with additional music. The St. Olaf Band premiered the work on October 14, 2011 with the composer conducting.

Scenes from the Life Danced (2008) c. 12:30, Grade 6-, Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by Lawrence University (WI). The LU Wind Ensemble premiered the work on May 17, 2008 with members of the LU dance troupe joining on a few movements. Dr. Andrew Mast conducted. The work centers on the life of the composer’s niece.

This is a work written as an exercise and the dedicated to the stalwart young musicians and band parents of I.S.D. 191 (Burnsville—Eagan—Savage, Minnesota) in appreciation of their dedication and perseverance. The MS Savage Elementary Band premiered the work on April 26, 2012, conducted by Nicholas Ellison.

Suite for Band (2015) c. 9:30, Grade 4, Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by O. Jay and Pat Tomson for the Mason City High School Symphonic Band to commemorate the opening of the new performance hall at Mason City High School. This ensemble premiered the full work on May 10, 2015, with the composer conducting. The first movement received a preview premiere in April of the previous year with Russ Kramer conducting.

Summum Bonum (2016) c. 6:15, Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program (VA), Carl Holmquist, Director. The H-B Woodlawn Concert Band premiered the work on May 24, 2016 with the Holmquist conducting.

Symphony No. 1 (2016) c. 32:00, Grade 5+, Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by a consortium of 54 band programs (high school, college/university, and community ensembles) led by Matt Dehnel, conductor at Roseville Area High School. They Sing of Love (1997) c. 15:00, Grade 5, Manuscript* Commissioned by Morehead State University Symphony Band (Kentucky), Richard Miles, conductor, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the university. Premiered February 13, 1998 (40th Annual Concert Band Clinic), Button Auditorium, Morehead State University.

Three Solas: The Sense of Luther’s Rose (2010) c. 10:00, Grade 4, Manuscript* The work bears this dedication: “By the grace of God, this work is dedicated to the students, directors, and schools making up 50 years of Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod High School Band Festivals. To God alone the glory!” The 50th Anniversary WELS Festival Band premiered the work on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Luther High School in Onalaska, WI with the composer conducting.

Until the Walls and Rafters Ring (2006) c. 10:00, Grade 6/5 (brass quintet and band), Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by The University of Iowa to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the School of Music. Dr. Myron Welch asked for a work to feature the Iowa Brass Quintet as the featured ensemble with the UI Symphony Band. This collection of musicians premiered the work in February 21, 2007.
