This ensemble premiered the work in April 2010, conducted by Neil Schnoor. Premiered October 2003, Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Appalachian Folk Dream (2014) c. 3:00. Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the J.T. Lambert Intermediate School Seventh & Eighth Grade Bands East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania — Kevin Horne, Director as part of the long-standing commissioning project. Matt Whitney was the director at the time of the premiere. This ensemble premiered the work on March 5, 2014 with the composer conducting. Argentum: An Overture for Band (1986) c. 7:30, Grade 4+, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the Nebraska Bandmasters Association for the 25th Anniversary of their association. Premiered March 8, 1986, Nebraska Intercollegiate Band, Timothy Mahr, conductor, Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska. Beacon (2009) c. 6:00. Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned for the retirement of Thom Headley as Director of Bands at Bowling Green High School (OH). Premiered March 8, 2009, Kibacker Hall, Bowling Green State University, with the composer conducting. Blue Sky Day (2004) c. 3:30, Grade 4+, Manuscript* Commissioned by the North Dakota National Band Association and the North Dakota Music Educators Association. Premiered March 2005 by the North Dakota All State Band at the NDMEA Convention in Fargo, North Dakota, Timothy Mahr, conductor. Bridge Square March (2004) c. 2:30, Grade 1, Neil A. Kjos Music Co Co-composed with daughter, Jenna Mahr. Dedicated to the Northfield Fifth Grade Elementary Band, Roger Jenni, conductor. Premiered May 2004 at Minneapolis Kenwood Elementary School. Bright Side (2015) c. 2:30. Grade 4+, Mahr Music Press Written to honor William Webb upon his retirement from teaching. Premiered October 3, 2015 by the Edina HS Concert Band (MN) with Paul Kile conducting. by blue lake, listening, dreaming (2014) c. 9:30. Grade 5, Mahr Music Press Written in honor of Harry Begian on the 50th anniversary of the Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp. Premiered by the Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp Faculty Band on July 13, 2014 with Dr. Myron Welch conducting. Children at Play (2018) c. 5:30. Grade 4+, Mahr Music Press Commissioned by the North Hills High School Band Program (PA) and is the 53rd work commissioned within their long, prestigious series of commissions. Premiered May 21, 2018 by the North Hills HS Wind Ensemble, with Christopher Ballentine conducting. Christmas Adoration from Festivals (1994) c. 6:00, Grade 5, Manuscript* Commissioned by the St. Olaf Band, Miles Johnson, conductor. Premiered December 4, 1994, St. Olaf Band, Timothy Mahr, conductor, Boe Memorial Chapel, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota. Climb the Castle Walls! (2011) c. 3:30. Grade 2, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Written as a project and premiered November 4, 2011 by Lake Middle School 8th grade Band (Woodbury, MN – Eric Van Scoy, conductor) with the composer conducting. Commemorative Overture (2013) c. 5:15. Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the North East Iowa Bandmasters Association and premiered by their regional honor band on December 7, 2013 with the composer conducting. Courtly Intrigue (2007) c. 7:30. Grade 4+, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Missouri Bandmasters Association for the 2007 Missouri All State Band. This ensemble premiered the work on January 26, 2008 with the composer conducting. Dauntless (2012) c. 3:45. Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Co-composed with Hannah Mahr (our second daughter). Written for and dedicated to the Northfield Middle School (MN) 8th grade band and premiered May 15, 2014 by that ensemble with the Ethan Freier conducting. Dare to Dream (2017) c. 3:35. Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Wayzata High School Wind Ensemble, Donald Krubsack conductor for the opening of a new auditorium. Premiered by them on March 5, 2017. Daydream (1989) c. 4:15, Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the St. Olaf Band, Miles Johnson, conductor. Premiered November 11, 1989 (St. Olaf Festival of Bands), Festival Band, Timothy Mahr, conductor, Skoglund Center Auditorium, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota. De Amicitia (2015) c. 4:45. Grade 4 (with organ), Manuscript* Commissioned by the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra to celebrate their 25th season. Mahr founded this ensemble, originally called the Twin Ports Wind Ensemble. The work was premiered in May 30, 2015 with the composer conducting. Diamond Celebration (2007) c. 2:30. Grade 4, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the Century High School Band program, Levi Lundak, director, of Rochester, Minnesota for the 75th Anniversary Big 9 Conference Music Festival. Premiered May 4, 2007 with the Big 9 Honor Band with the composer conducting. Dig Down Deep (2011) c. 2:30 Grade 3, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by Shakopee High School (MN) for the California Tour of the SHS Wind Ensemble. Premiered April 2011 by this ensemble, Eric Christenson, conducting. Endurance (1991) c. 10:30, Grade 5, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the American Bandmasters Association as the inaugural work in their commissioning series. Premiered March 7, 1992 (58th Annual Convention of the American Bandmasters Association), United States Interservice Band, Ed Lisk, conductor, DAR Constitution Hall, Washington, D.C. Etched in Stone (2018) c. 7:00, Grade 4+ (with narrator), Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by Westbrook High School, Kyle Smith, conductor, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Premiered by this ensemble with the composer conducting on April 4, 2018. Everyday Hero (2000) c. 6:30, Grade 4+, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association. Premiered January 20, 2001, All Middle-Tennessee First Senior High Band Band, Timothy Mahr, conductor. An Examined Life (2012) c. 6:00, Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by Matt Goeke in memory of his brother Christopher Goeke for a premiere with the Apple Valley HS Wind Ensemble (MN), Corey Desens, conductor. Premiered by this ensemble in May 24, 2012 with Desens conducting. Exemplar (2018) c. 2:00, Grade 4, Mahr Music Press LLC Commissioned by Eden Prairie and Rosemount HS (MN) to honor Steve Olsen upon his retirement – a surprise performance. Ben Harloff conducted the premiere of the work with the Rosemount HS Wind Ensemble on May 24, 2018. Expedition (2014) c. 4:45, Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Niceville High School Band Program (FL), Dan Wooten, conductor, for a premiere with the Okaloosa All County Band. The composer conducted the premiere on November 16, 2014. Fanfare and Grand March (1980) c. 2:00, Grade 4, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the New Limitations Corporation. Alan Music Publishing Commissioned by Tom Davis and the Canandaigua Academy Wind Ensemble (NY). The composer conducted the premiere on June 3, 2003 with this ensemble. Flourish (1996) c. 2:00, Grade 4, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Commissioned by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the UWGB Junior and Senior Summer Music Camps. Premiered August 3, 1996, UWGB Honors Band, Timothy Mahr, conductor, Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, UWGB. “GF Redux: It’s Yours” from The Jack Stamp Suite (2015) c. 1:00, Grade 5, Neil A. Kjos Music Co. Composed to observe the retirement of Jack Stamp as a gift to Jack. Premiered by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble on April 25, 2015 with Jack Stamp conducting. Golden Opportunity (2012) c. 5:00, Grade 4, Manuscript* Commissioned by the Brooklyn Community Band of Minnesota, Jane Ruohoniemi, conductor to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band.
