Eremophila koobabbiensis (Scrophulariaceae), a new, rare species from the wheatbelt of Western Australia. Nuytsia 21(4): 157–162 (2011). Eremophila koobabbiensis Chinnock, sp.nov., is described and illustrated. This rare species is known only from one area north of Moora and its conservation is discussed. It is also established in cultivation and its long-term survival is assured. Introduction When the monograph of Eremophila and allied genera was published (Chinnock 2007) one of the authors of this paper (RJC) was aware of a number of undescribed species in Western Australia that had been seen in the field or had been isolated from existing herbarium collections but were either inadequate for the preparation of accounts for publication, or were discovered too late to be included in the monograph. Andrew Brown (Department of Environment and Conservation, Western Australia) also drew attention to other new species of which he was aware. Since the publication of the monograph, two new taxa, E. grandiflora A.P.Br. & B.Buirchell and E. densifolia F.Muell. subsp. erecta A.P.Br. & B.Buirchell have been published (Brown & Buirchell 2007). In this paper a new and rare species is described and illustrated. -

Australian Plants Society Yarra Yarra Group Inc (Incorporation No. A0039676Y) Newsletter May 2018 May 3: Maree & Graham Goods : Gardening in the Wimmera Graham & Maree come from a farming and administration background. They are Life Members of the Wimmera Growers of Australian Plants of which they have been members for over 40 years. Their garden has been open to the public on several occasions for various charities. They ran a wholesale nursery for several years specialising in Eremophilas. Graham and Maree’s current project is growing plants, landscaping and overseeing the planting of the gardens surrounding the new building of their Church which was opened recently. They first became involved with Australia’s inland deserts in 2002 with an organisation called Desert Discovery as part of the Botany team. In 2008, Maree became the Botany Team Leader, while Graham was involved with the photography and identification of specimens. They have done volunteer work for Australian Wildlife Conservancy, Friends of the Great Victoria Desert, Victorian and Western Australian Herbariums in collecting, identifying and processing specimens. Bremer, P. Cantino, J. Chau, J. L. Clark, B. Drew, P. Garnock- Jones, S. Grose (Heydler), R. Harley, H.-D. Ihlenfeldt, B. Li, L. Lohmann, S. Mathews, L. McDade, K. Müller, E. Norman, N. O’Leary, B. Oxelman, J. Reveal, R. Scotland, J. Smith, D. Tank, E. Tripp, S. Wagstaff, E. Wallander, A. Weber, A. Wolfe, A. Wortley, N. Young, M. Zjhra, and many others [estimated 25 families, 1041 genera, and ca. 21,878 species in Lamiales] The goal of this project is to produce a working infraordinal classification of the Lamiales to genus with information on distribution and species richness. All recognized taxa will be clades; adherence to Linnaean ranks is optional. Synonymy is very incomplete (comprehensive synonymy is not a goal of the project, but could be incorporated). Although I anticipate producing a publishable version of this classification at a future date, my near- term goal is to produce a web-accessible version, which will be available to the public and which will be updated regularly through input from systematists familiar with taxa within the Lamiales. Australian Plants Suitable for Tamworth Regional Council Areas Eucalyptus blakelyi Photo Tony Croft Tamworth Group of Australian Plants Society As at July 2007 Eucalyptus blakelyi II TAMWORTH REGIONAL COUNCIL RAINFALL DATA Most of the Tamworth Regional Council area receives an average annual rainfall of 600 to 800mm except for the north- west corner on the Mount Kaputar plateau and the tablelands country from Bendemeer through Woolbrook to Hanging Rock above Nundle which often receives between 800 to 1000mm. Similarly temperatures vary across the region with average annual minimums on the tablelands and nearby areas between 6 and 9 degrees Celsius. A series of frosts are received across the entire region each winter. Average annual maximums are between 18 and 21 degrees on the tablelands, 21 to 24 degrees across most of the region and 24 to 27 degrees in the west of the region. 1. Barraba 2.
