A little about me: when I was 11, my elementary school class took a field trip to the Strasenburgh Planetarium. That trip changed my life. I couldn’t stop thinking about the size and scale of the solar system, galaxy, and universe. I went on to earn a degree in space sciences and have spent my career working at science museums and informal learning institutions across the United States. Most recently, I was Vice President of Audience and Community Engagement at the Milwaukee Public Museum, a natural and cultural history museum that includes the largest planetarium in Wisconsin. I’ve also held leadership positions at the Franklin Institute Science Museum, the Long Island Children’s Museum, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Griffith Observatory. Connecting museum, planetarium, and nature center visitors of all ages to the wonders of exploration in science, natural history, and our shared cultural background is my passion, and I’m excited to be back home to make a difference in the place that first inspired me. -

Eighty-eight of the state's finest craft breweries will be pouring more than 330 artistically crafted creations! Check out the fascinating beer names and styles below and let your imagination run wild at this annual Father's Day weekend celebration. The Festival kicks off on Friday, June 13, at 4pm and opening night goes until 9:30pm. Friday is for 21 and older only and features 74 of these Washington breweries and many of those will bring Friday-exclusive beers which are often smaller-batch, specialty brews. Another highlight on Friday night is the performance of Hell's Belles, an all female AC/DC tribute band, performing on the Redmond's Bar & Grill music stage from 7:30pm - 9pm. Saturday and Sunday guests can choose from the full beer lineup from all 88 breweries at the picturesque Marymoor Park venue. In addition, the festival features live music all weekend, terrific food options including a number of the popular local food truck vendors. There is also wine and cider options available for those who might prefer an alternative taste. The Washington Brewers Festival will take place on June 13-15 at Marymoor Park in Redmond. Admission is $20 on Friday (in advance or at the gate). -

(“Magic Hat”), and Pyramid Breweries Inc. (NASDAQ:PMID - News) (“Pyramid”) today jointly announced the execution of a definitive merger agreement that contemplates, among other things, a tender offer to purchase all of Pyramid’s outstanding common stock for $2.75 per share in cash, or approximately $25.7 million in total purchase price. The all-cash offer represents a premium of 56.3% over the closing price of Pyramid’s common stock on April 28, 2008, the trading day prior to the public announcement of the execution of a Letter of Intent between Pyramid and Magic Hat regarding the proposed merger. The transaction received approval by the respective boards of directors of the merger parties. A newly formed merger subsidiary of Independent Brewers United expects to commence the tender offer for all outstanding shares of Pyramid common stock on July 2, 2008 or promptly thereafter. annual report | 2016 Dear Friends, From the youngest to the oldest in our community, we proudly serve tens of thousands of individuals. While Rochester continues to be gravely affected by the opioid epidemic that is spreading across the country, and the ongoing struggle to lift children out of poverty, Catholic Family Center maintains compassionate and high quality services to Rochester’s most vulnerable citizens. You will hear from Ron Rizzo about the principles behind our prosperity initiatives in Rochester, and will have the opportunity to meet Erica King, who leads our Crisis Resource Services, to understand the impact of adding case management services to those in crisis. And, as always, we have a client story or two to further illustrate the positive change your support brings to our community. Other bright moments from 2016 include $6M of funding awarded to CFC for new initiatives to support this work: approximately $3M over two years to pilot 2 Partner- Navigator offerings that have proven effective in other communities; $1.3M over four years to integrate primary health care into our behavioral health services; and $1.7M to renovate and expand Sanctuary House, which provides shelter and housing for women and their children. Our Mental Health Clinic opened a new satellite clinic at 1645 St. Paul Street. And we began taking intact families, including fathers, at Women’s Place, now called Place of Hope. CFC is now one of three emergency shelters that provide services to men with families or children. Our results and community contribution in 2016 are cause for celebration and gratitude for all you have done to support the mission of Catholic Family Center. -

Food, Wine,Beer As the nation’s first frontier, Rochester drew settlers from around the world, and they brought their recipes with them. More than 200 years later, we’re a smorgasbord of traditional and contemporary cuisines. LOCAL FOOD • Since 1905, the Rochester Public Market has offered some of the area’s best seasonal produce, meat, fish, poultry, dairy products and baked goods. • Legendary Wegmans — still family owned after all these years - has enough prepared foods, and seating areas, to be one of the region’s best places for lunch or dinner. • Myriad farmers markets from May to October, some of which continue indoors year round. Some farms also have year-round stores or delivery services. • Since 1880, Rochester has been home to Zweigle’s, originator of the “white hot,” a concoction of spiced beef, pork and veal. The company also makes all-beef hot dogs, deli meats and sausages, including several chicken varieties. • Nearly every casual eatery has come up with its own version of the “garbage plate”made famous by Nick Tahou’s restaurant — a concoction of macaroni salad, fries, hot dogs or hamburgers and hot sauce that can only be appreciated by tasting it. Some upscale restaurants have created gourmet varieties, too. • Chicken French, an old Rochester recipe that uses an egg-based batter and a lemon- tinged sauce, has also found its way onto various menus and spun off “French-style” seafood and vegetables — particularly artichokes. Crop and value-added product exports reduce the unfavorable trade balance and generate new employment, grower income, and federal revenue. Maintenance of U.S. strength in agriculture requires continuing efforts to improve crop productivity and quality. U.S. agricultural production that can supply both domestic demands and can compete in world markets will only be accomplished by strong investments in agricultural research programs. Innovative and competitive research will keep the U.S. at the forefront of the development and implementation of new agricultural technologies. Domestic Use of Barley in the US Barley is a significant U.S. crop. Barley production 2014 - 2018 Average is approximately 215 million bushels with an Whiskey 2.7% Seed estimated value of $1.2 billion as a raw agricultural Beer 2.3% Feed & Other 62.1% commodity (2012 Census). 29.4% Barley producers stimulate the rural economy through the purchase of fertilizer, seed, chemicals, fuel, labor, other supplies and farm equipment.
