Addressing a press conference, Javadekar said the package for Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) will ensure sufficient funds to both the Union Territories. The Cabinet has approved this special package for the UTs for a period of five years till financial year 2023-24 and decided to ensure funding of DAY-NRLM in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on a demand-driven basis without linking allocation with poverty ratio during this extended period. This is based on the outcomes of the evaluation pointing to the potential of the Mission to improve the quality of life of rural households and women empowerment and given the changed circumstances in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh. Around two-third rural women will be covered and 10.58 lakh ( 1.58 million) women will get the benefit from this package. The Modi government aims to reach out to 10 crore (100 million) women in the country through this scheme, of which over 10 lakh (1 million) will be from J&K and Ladakh. DAY-NRLM is a centrally sponsored programme that aims at eliminating rural poverty through promotion of multiple livelihoods and improved access to financial services. It involves working with community institutions through community professionals in the spirit of self-help, making it different from the previous poverty eradication programmes. The anti-ship missile, an Uran, was launched from INS Prabal to knock off the target warship in the Arabian Sea, officials familiar with the developments said. The navy did not reveal when the missile firing took place but officials said the images were from earlier this week. INS Prabal is deployed in the Arabian Sea along with a raft of warships, including aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, and other assets of the navy. Source: The Hindustan Times Indian Navy's indigenously built corvette 'INS Kavaratti' to be commissioned The last of four indigenously built Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) stealth corvettes "INS Kavaratti" under Project 28 (Kamorta class) is scheduled to be commissioned into the Indian Navy by Chief, General Manoj Mukund Naravane at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam today. Kavaratti has state-of-the-art weapons and sensor suite capable of detecting and prosecuting submarines. In addition to its anti-submarine warfare capability, the ship also has a credible self-defence capability and good endurance for long-range deployments. According to the Indian Navy, touted as a potent Stealth ASW Corvette, Kavaratti is indigenously designed by the Indian Navy's in-house organisation, Directorate of Naval Design (DND), built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), , and portrays the growing capability of the Indian Navy, GRSE NSE 0.61 % and the nation in becoming self-reliant through indigenization, thus, accentuating the national objective of "Atmanirbhar Bharat". The ship has up to 90 per cent indigenous content and the use of carbon composites for the superstructure is a commendable feat achieved in Indian shipbuilding. The ship's weapons and sensors suite is predominantly indigenous and showcases the nation's growing capability in this niche. The ship will be commissioned into the Navy as a combat-ready platform as the ship has completed sea trials of all the systems fitted onboard. With the induction of Kavaratti into its fold, the Indian Navy's preparedness will be enhanced. Kavaratti takes her name from erstwhile INS Kavaratti which was an Arnala class missile corvette. The older Kavaratti distinguished herself by operating in support of Bangladesh's liberation in 1971. Source: The Economic Times
