Though Yarrow has often claimed that he "hates jxilitics," he justifies his involvement in this way: "I'm concerned with the con dition of human beings, VVhenone is concerned with the condition of human beings, one ultimately has to be involved in politics, because it is a matter of changes in the quality of life. If that were not the case, 1 wouldn't be Involved in j)0,litics,..The point is not to confront the system, but to become the system." To effect these changes, Y'arrow said, he has campaigned for atiout 15 candidates, helped to organize voter registration on a massive basis and done a number of benefit concerts. Yarrow isn't convinced'that political involvement can hurt the icommerciality of his album. "It is ridiwulousto think that anybody's life can be segmented in that klndofw'ayj" he said.
